Just booked a Royal Room for a girls trip in Feb. How long is the walk to the food court and transportation?
It depends on where you are on the Royal Rooms, but IMO none are crazy far. I purposely booked a pool view RR for like $3 more a night so I knew I would be really close to the bridge to the main building, and that was a great location. If you are a different view, you could request close to that bridge. I can't answer about which rooms are close to the bus stop in that area, but if you look at the map or on portorleans.com (I think that's the site, unless it's .org. It's the site referenced here frequently) or touringplans you could see which rooms are close to that stop. We prefer close to the main building amenities, and often used that bus stop as well.Just booked a Royal Room for a girls trip in Feb. How long is the walk to the food court and transportation?
Yes will probably use that bus stop cause will stop to get coffee in the morning and be closer to that stop..It depends on where you are on the Royal Rooms, but IMO none are crazy far. check out portorleans.org. I thought they had an interactive map, but couldn't find it offhand, maybe it's there and I was looking too fast. But here's what they say about that room type. Can anyone help me figure out where the Garden view 5th sleeper rooms are compared to the main pool and the main building.
Thanks!

My only complaint is about food. Boatwrights was the worst meal I've ever had on property and possibly one of the worst meals I've ever had period. The food court at both Riverside and French Quarter were meh at best. I was excited to try the new larger beignet stand for the first time, but thought the beignets were absolutely disgusting. Given the shape and size, they were more like gross zeppole than anything approaching a New Orleans beignet. Disappointing. Given the quick boat service to Disney Springs though, I can deal with the food being less than stellar.
I’ve only eaten at Boatwrights once despite many POR stays, we are there last New Year’s Eve and I thought it was quite good. Much better than I expected because it doesn’t have a great reputation. I also have always liked the Riverside Mill food court and the beignets at FQ, but I also have never had a “real” one. We also got the Glute Free beignets, and thought they were not good, despite their good reputationI've heard that a lot about Boatwright's. We've stayed at Riverside a few times but have never eaten there. It looks nice, and is certainly convenient, too bad the food isn't good.
We didn't mind the food court at all, however we usually only go to there for a quick breakfast or snack.
We loved the beignets at the French Quarter, the one time we had them last March, however we've never had a REAL New Orleans beignet, so we have nothing to compare them to.
Hi folks! DH and I are unexpectedly staying at POR for two nights in January after my first and second resort choices were already booked up. We are excited to try a new resort! DH’s one request was that we don’t have a long “commute” to the parks. I didn’t tell him just how big Riverside is We booked a standard King room. There are so many room types at this resort that I am confused about what building to request. The most important thing will be minimizing bus stops on the way to the parks. Any suggestions? We don’t care about pools or the view - just want to get to the parks ASAP each morning!
Yes!Does the boat still take you to Disney Springs?
If you want to get a seat on the bus, you want to be at the first stop, the west bus depot. Building 34 is a very short walk which we appreciated in the evening. 24 looks like it's close as well. We were there two weeks ago and it was not uncommon for the bus to be standing room only by the time we got to the fourth stop at the lobby.Hi folks! Riverside also has Caffeine Free Diet Coke, one of the few places that does.Nope just standard drinks. From memory there was diet (and/or zero), cherry and regular coke, root beer, hi c, lemonade, sprite, Fanta. I di hear freestyle machines are at French Quarter.
I believe all of the beds and bedding were redone. The curtains all looked new and the flooring is all laminate now. They added a bunch of USB outlets. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos of the room but Port Orleans.org has more details. I thought they did a good job. The beds are high enough that you can stash your suitcases under there so the room never felt cluttered.Questions about room refurbishments at POR....
We have stayed here many times but not lately because the "Free Dining" didn't include Port Orleans. We stayed the last couple of trips at Coronado Springs after their room redos. Wow, the bath, shower, room and carpet removal were all wonderful. Last month, we reserved POR for next September and wondered exactly what POR rooms are having done to them? On a side note, in all of our stays at POR we have always been in the mansions.
TIA
The unofficial site is right. A room can only be one category so if you are booking a pool view room then it can be in many buildings. If a preferred building has rooms that are pool view then a person who booked a pool view room can end up in a preferred building.Hi All! Thinking about switching our OKW ressie to POR to save (a lot of) money. I was looking at the room views on TP and fell in love with the pool view from building 18! TP has it listed at "Preferred" view, but on unofficial POR site (link below) it says "Swimming Pool" view. Can anyone tell me which it is? Thanks!
