Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Ok, I am having a hard time deciding between WL deluxe and BWI deluxe room. We are only going to be there 3 nights, but we loved WL club level last time. With the construction at WL and F&W, I am leaning towards BWI. There is not much information on that particular club lounge on the boards, so if anyone has stayed there I would love input. I also don't see a list of the food offerings there, does anyone have a copy? Thanks for all the help!!
The deluxe rooms at BWI are beautiful! Very spacious, and they all overlook Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to book them.
Being able to walk into Epcot from the International Gateway is a wonderful plus, too. :goodvibes

Just found this thread, hope you can help me decide...

Which standard room, Club Level would you choose?
Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Animal Kingdom, or Wilderness Lodge?

Any recommendations? Best food choices? Pros/cons to any of them?
I have stayed at all 4 and here are my opinions

Yacht Club - This would probably be my last choice. Cons - Rooms need updated, QS restaurant is over at the beach club or walk to boardwalk, more convention business. Pros - nice walk to DHS, club staff was friendly
Boardwalk - This would be my #2 choice. Pros - Great staff, nice food offerings, great location. Cons - You have to go outside to get to the QS and TS restaurants, I am a light sleeper and have to request a garden view room instead of a boardwalk view (too much noise)
Animal Kingdom - 3rd choice. Pros - Nice food offerings, great to watch the animals Cons - Long bus rides to the parks, Club lounge and rooms on different floors
Wilderness Lodge - 1st choice and my personal favorite. Pros - Love the atmosphere, Best cast members, All areas are covered. On those rainy days, you can get from the bus stop to the QS to the TS to the room without ever going outside. In November the Christmas decorations should be going up. Cons - DVC Construction starting. That being said, we stayed there during both the recent room rennovations and the pool rennovations and didn't hear a thing.

Hello All,

Your opinion please:

1. Called the poly itinerary planning office (staying poly club in dec). I asked if they can help with a dining reservation. The CM wasn't all thrilled to help and told me to do it myself online. Said they only saw what i can see online...which i understand, but i don't want to be online all day every day to find something.

2. I asked for vegan items to be requested at the lounge (done it in the past). CM says they have stuff, and if we want others we can just do room service. Last few times i've made this request, they've provided items for us because the only vegan items out there...especially dessert time...is a piece of packaged fruit from the morning time. Clearly another CM wanting to be lazy.

If they are telling me to go online and find my own reservations, i don't need help with tix and they can't help put in a lounge request....what kind of requests are they used for?

I can do a lot on my own....like plan the entire thing from FP+, dining, tickets, etc....so what would i use the itinerary planning group for then?

tup1830 - I've spoken to CMs like that, who act like making ADRs is something you should do yourself... and I've spoken to much better ones who want to do what they can to help. I'd try calling another time and hopefully you will get a different IPO CM who has some idea of what customer service is. Or I'd just make the ADRs myself, since I know that I care more about them than the CM does. Honestly, I don't know what they think they are doing if they are just getting paid to tell people that they can do it all for themselves... My experience with Disney CL has been very inconsistent, from the IPO staff to the ones at the desks at WDW. Some are fantastic and need to be noticed (yes, I sent Disney a letter about one outstanding IPO CM), and some really don't seem to want to help you one bit. I have never asked for anything special in the lounge, so I don't have any experience there, but I'm sorry that they aren't being helpful.

We're making the exact same decision for February 2016 for the Princess Half Marathon! We've stayed CL at both BWI and WL, but in either standard CL rooms or a 2-bedroom suite. So I can't compare the deluxe rooms themselves from personal experience. I toured a WL deluxe room and it looked tight for six people, but it's nice that the bedroom and living room areas are separated by doors. The views and location of the WL deluxe CL rooms vary significantly, and the one I toured was on the ground floor and quite far away from the lounge. The BWI deluxe rooms are bigger, have a more open feel, and all have a boardwalk view. They are on the same floor as the lounge or one floor below, so not very far.

In the end, the discounts that pop up for our dates will be the deciding factor for us. A few thoughts about the differences between the two.

1. Space. We love the configuration of the WL club lounge, because it's on the top floor of the resort overlooking the lobby. It's nicely spread out so we always feel like we have plenty of space. The kids' area so much fun for our youngest - little chairs, TV with Disney channel playing, coloring area with crayons and coloring books. And the view out of the lounge overlooking Bay Lake is incredible. It's actually one of my favorite lounge views - can't see any parks but that's OK - looks like we really are in the Wilderness! BWI is fine. It's a nice space with a balcony overlooking gardens and the quiet pool. We've watched Illuminations from the balcony. The tables are all in one room and relatively close together, with a CM desk in the corner. There is no designated kids' area and just one TV, so our youngest doesn't have the same "kid social hour" opportunities that he does in other lounges. Given the layout, there is a feeling of "togetherness" at BWI that we don't experience in the WL club lounge. The BWI lounge was relatively recently renovated, so it's fresh and new - probably more fresh than WL. :) And it's very calm and peaceful - probably the most calm and peaceful of the lounges we've experienced.

2. Food. Breakfast at both WL and BWI is OK. I like the fact that BWI offers hard boiled eggs, so it's not just carbs for breakfast. In our experience, WL offers far more in the evening during appetizer time. It was really difficult for us to even eat a CS meal after WL appetizers! The selection at WL was varied, with soup, hot appetizers, salads and some kind of sandwich or roll up, in addition to fruits, veggies, cheese, crackers, sourdough bread with spreads, etc. It was a ton.

3. CMs. CMs at BWI and WL have been among the best, in our experience. We've stayed CL at all the deluxe resorts except YC and the WL and BWI CMs really stand out. But they stand out in different ways. We've always found the BWI CMs to be very chatty - they really engage with guests and with each other. They remembered our names and listened to our youngest talk about his daily adventures! We love the fact that, during down time in the lounge, the CMs really seem to enjoy hanging out together. And they seem to have a consistent bunch there - we remember most of the CMs we meet during repeat BWI CL stays. The CMs at WL have been wonderful, too. They are really friendly, but we didn't see them approaching guests to strike up a conversation. (Our teens are starting to prefer the WL way.) At WL, we have several examples of above-and-beyond service and all with a genuine, cheerful feel to it. Most CLs will say that when the lounge is closed, we should let them know if we need anything. At WL, they seem to really mean it!

That stinks. I've had nothing but amazing luck with the IPO CMs! They made all my dining, party, and activity reservations for me, and even managed to find a BBB appointment that they went through like four databases to find. I'd call back, for sure.

As for #2: I have celiac and have to eat gluten free. When I asked about options, both CMs I've spoken to advised me to actually talk to the chef when I was there and they would be able to provide what I needed, so I'd recommend that. Sorry you got such a stinker!

BWI CL is one of the happiest CL lounges that we have ever been fortunate to visit. The lounge was always filled with laughter, happy conversation, guests and CM's having a great time together. They are professional, and will give you your space, don't get me wrong...BUT there was a comfortable atmosphere of camaraderie that is difficult to achieve and we haven't experienced at any of the other CL's. At departure, we hugged some of the particular CM's that were so outstanding. I still miss Linda's cheery smile. Such honestly NICE people. WE stayed at BWI CL after a GF RPC stay and I have to say, that although the GF staff were awesome, the BWI CM's were even better. It was so nice that it ranks as one of my top three CL's in WDW (the other two are GF RPC and CR) despite the fact that the food was less to my taste than most others.

Food was good, regularly replenished, but not as much variety as at most other CL lounges that we have experienced (although better than at YC/BC, IMO). Instead of chocolates at turndown they had saltwater candy. THAT was disappointing! I like chocolate! For breakfast in the lounge, we would have a choice of pastries, bread, bagels, cold cereal, oatmeal, some cheese, fruit (melons, strawberries, pineapple, bananas, etc), coffee tea, milk, juice, water. Snacks in the afternoon would be like cookies, home made chips, gummies, other candy/junk food, sodas, milk, tea and coffee. Evening hors d'oeuvres , IIRC, would be skewered meat (Chicken?), some kind of fried spring roll or other fried 'mystery meat' thingy, crudities, some salad (like quinoa perhaps?). I am vegetarian, so a few raw veggies/salad would be pretty much all I would eat, so my memory is vague. There would be a selection of small desserts later in the evening, usually cookies, cheesecake and other various sweets that I don't remember well. Sorry. We found that breakfast was really the only convenient time to be at the lounge reliably. Afternoon snacks and hors d'oeuvres hours were frequently spent in the theme parks or otherwise having fun. The only real 'meal' that was served, IMO, was breakfast. you could make a light meal from the offerings in the evening if you really wanted to, but it wouldn't be very satisfying for more than an occasional light dinner. There was nothing that would qualify for lunch at all.
I liked the deluxe room itself for space and location. Very comfortable beds as well! There is a nice large sitting area as well as a bedroom area so the floor space is huge! Unfortunately there is no divider between the two areas. Lots of room to spread out, though. There were two TV sets, one across from the beds and another across from the sofa and chair.
The down sides to our room were 1. the very small balcony that was difficult to access because it was almost too small to open the door with the furniture out there and 2. the noise from the Boardwalk was loud enough to hear inside the room even with the door to the balcony closed.

We had a wonderful stay in the BWI CL. I would recommend it to anyone as a truly memorable experience!

Maybe try emailing instead of calling? The Poly IPO is polynesian.itinerary.planning@waltdisney.com. I emailed our requests - then when I spoke with the CM to give her our credit card, she said the same (that they check the same system for ADRs that we can do online), but they will check it once a day for your preferred time if they can't find it originally. That seemed helpful to me. She also made the reservation for our DD at the kid's club. I'm sorry you had a bad experience!

The CMs at AKL have been so helpful. I couldn't find a specific ADR and they have been checking for me and finally found one yesterday. They also made our kids club reservations. I am happy with their help so far. Hopefully tomorrow when we arrive, the service will continue.

Ok been doing tons of research and here is a first question...I don't know that much about WDW or the dining plan. Since we are staying CL at the Grand Floridian is a dining plan really worth it or should I just pay for meals out of pocket. I am planning on eating all breakfast at the lounge and picking up snacks there. So really only looking at lunch and/ or dinner out...staying 5 days. What do you experienced folks think? There are places I want to eat and try to get an ADR for of course. Thanks for input! I love this thread BTW!

As others have noted, WL and YC will be undergoing renovations soon, although it sounds like WL may have construction like they had at Poly when they were building the DVC units which would be MUCH worse. We ended up having to stay at Poly a couple of nights during that and it was awful! Fortunately, we had several nights after that at RPC to "save" our trip:) We were at BC in June while they were still renovating the rooms, and it wasn't that bad, but they were already working on the second floor by then. I don't know how bad construction would be at YC if you decide to go there. People on the BC/YC thread assume they will begin on the CL floor as they did at BC. AKL is a bit far from everything, IMO, and the CL lounge is on another floor (which I don't really like). Although I have not stayed at BWI yet, a fellow GF fan (TinkerbellLiz) just returned from BWI and was VERY pleased...so I am looking forward to my December BWI trip! She said they've added meats and cheeses to breakfast and two types of tea sandwiches at snack time! They also had either cream of potato soup or tomato soup in the evening as well as a vegetable roll, a seafood option, and a meat an cheese tray (like at breakfast). This was posted over on the BWI thread, so thanks, Liz!
@ninafeliz good to know a champagne welcome is not an automatic. I had read something about a strawberry champagne offered at arrival over on the bc/yc board--can anyone confirm? don't want to have my expectations way off base!

thanks for your feedback. thinking we, too, will probably not purchase the mugs this trip. want to take complete advantage of everything CL has to offer, and seems like heading to the lounge for our beverages will be one of the ways to do that.

I am so looking forward to our first deluxe stay. don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore POR, but I am just so excited to try something new. it will probably be our last trip before starting a family, so figured now was a good of time as any to give deluxe/CL a try! :) that being said, my husband still thinks we are staying at POR. I'm trying to figure out the best way to surprise him. any thoughts? should I wait until we are assigned to our queue for magical express and then break it to him? at what point do I let him know we will be club level? when you check in is it a big to-do and he will catch on, or should I inform him in advance?
We did receive the champagne with a strawberry drink upon our arrival/check-in at BC CL in June and saw others receiving the same. They do not serve champagne in the BC lounge (I haven't stayed at YC but I don't think they serve it in their lounge either). We have always been greeted by a CM and escorted to the CL floor upon check-in, so I hope this will work out for you as the "big reveal" for your husband:) I will say that my husband had to tell someone (once at BC and once at GF) that we were staying CL before they escorted us. There is usually someone standing out front that can handle this. You should NEVER have to go to the check-in desk! I think sometimes CL guests slip through the cracks if several CL guests just arrived before you.

My DH and I were appalled to hear about your IPO experience! It was so bad it was almost laughable! I have experienced some calls where the CM wasn't very friendly but never anything like you experienced. I would call back again as someone else suggested. I hope you have a better experience. You should have your special dietary requests noted on your reservation, and someone from Disney is supposed to contact you. I haven't actually done this before, but I have inquired about it numerous times at several resorts(including Poly) because my brother in law has Celiac disease. They all assured me that they do this all the time, so it shouldn't be an issue for you.

I've been reading most pages of this thread and thank you all for the great information. Here is my dilemma. We've been to Disney more times than I probably should admit and have stayed at value, mod and deluxe, but we've never done a club level. This January we are planning a short (3 night) stay and will be taking our grandson, age 5, with us. It will be his very first time at Disney. We would love to be able to give him a "special" experience with his grandparents and hope he is old enough to remember some of it. Would staying club level be an advantage or disadvantage in regard to our ages (50 ish) and his? It may be the only time we will be able to take him. We don't want him to be overwhelmed, so are planning to spend most of our time at the Magic Kingdom. DH thinks the Contemporary would be most appropriate because of the monorail going through the hotel. We have stayed there in the past and were pixie dusted to a Tower Park view room that was awesome. Right now, we are considering club level at either CR or Poly. DH does not care too much for the Poly - no offense to anyone, just his opinion. I would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations. Our goal with this whole experience is for our young grandson to have a delightful time with his grandparents and perhaps make some memories he can have for a lifetime. Thank you in advance.

I'll try to help, and hopefully others will chime in as well. In terms of whether it would be an advantage, to me it depends on how you spend your days. For my family, it's really nice. We like to be able to get up early and walk to the lounge for breakfast. No lines, no having to decide what to order, etc. Just grab a few items and start eating. It's also nice that we don't all have to be ready to leave the room at the same time (like we would if we were going to a restaurant).

We also like to take a break in the middle of the day and go back to our hotel. We tend to use the pools, then have a light snack in the lounge, and then rest. And we don't head back into the parks until dinner time, so we partake of the evening appetizers as well. So having the lounge is really nice for us. We tend to have a sit-down lunch and then either go out for dinner or play it by ear (have some apps and then grab something in the park to share). We also really like the espresso machine that's in some of the lounges. If we were spending every hour of the day in the park, I wouldn't find staying CL worthwhile (plenty of other people do, of course). Both CR and Poly are super close to the MK, so I think that either would be a good choice.

Hope this helps!

Hoping someone can confirm (or deny) this: when you stay club level, in-park purchases are delivered directly to your room rather than the resort gift shop. Thanks in advance y'all!

We don't get the dining plan, but that is our personal preference. Almost all of the restaurants that we like are signatures, so those require two table service credits per person if you are on the dining plan. So for us, it's not a good deal. We eat breakfast and snacks in the lounge, and then often split a couple of entrees from Gasparilla Grill for lunch. Otherwise, it is simply too much food for us...and we eat a lot! We eat at restaurants most nights, but it's always nice to "stay in" and enjoy the resort one night.

I think CL would benefit you and your grandson. Like mmmears said, it's really convenient to have breakfast ready for you in the morning... No waiting involved. I think it makes the trip much more relaxing. And if your grandson is anything like my five year old nephew, he will wake up early! Maybe you wake up just as early, but for me, it would be nice to be able to get food from the lounge (or send your DH to get it) and take it back to your room while you get ready for the day. And both of my nephews love juice...and you can get that any time in CL -LOL. Young children can be pretty demanding, so I think you would really enjoy the convenience of having CL. And staying in the monorail loop is definitely the right choice:) I'm pretty sure your grandson will remember the trip. Aside from seeing Buzz Lightyear and others, how could he forget the place where he had a never ending supply of cookies and chocolate milk??

This is true:) we just don't use the service much because we usually want the item that day.

Like Dispro1 posted, we don't do the dining plan. We like to snack in the lounge when convenient, and also make ADRs. But even then, we will often share 1-2 apps and 1-2 entrees and 1 dessert among the 3 of us... and we don't always want to order a drink, etc. It just seems easier to us to order a la carte and pay for what we eat as we go. There have been some evenings when the CL food was enough that we ended up canceling our dinner plans, and other nights when we wanted a full dinner. I just prefer the flexibility of being able to order what we want where we want. We don't have to know which places are "signature" and which aren't...

Thank you for all the helpful advice regarding my decision between BWI and WL. We have decided to switch to BWI since it is a new resort for us. I am excited for the extra room, but will miss the wonderful food offerings the WL provides in the evening. I can't seem to find a menu for BWI, can anyone point to one that I might be able to look over. Based upon what we see, we may add a dinning reservation or two. Thanks so much for your help, this thread is wonderful and helpful!!

So I guess that means I need my dates, and resort changed- We are no longer staying WL Oct 7-10, we are BWI Sept 30-Oct 4. ;-)

I have been stalking the threads and finally got done reading this one (entirely!) Everyone seems to stay and review Poly, BC, YC, GF, and AKL, but we are staying at WL CL. It's only for one night (8/15/15) for my DS5 birthday. I have only been to WL one time when I was about 14 (probably when it was first opening!) Obviously it was with my parents and we were upgraded to a Jr suite, what now looks like deluxe rooms. But I was super sick and never got to experience the lodge fully. Anyway, I have always wanted to go back and now we are! And this will be our first CL stay ever!!! So I had a couple questions.

1) Are there any bunk bed rooms on the CL?

2) I saw someone post about CL lounges being locked? Does this mean you can't grab a soda in between scheduled services? And does the WL have a locked lounge?

3) Can anyone give me any additional information or updated pictures (the ones I see posted have a time stamp of 2010). I, like most of you, am an obsessive planner and don't like surprises (especially bad ones!)

4) Are there any requests I should make for his birthday or otherwise?

Thank you so much for all your help! You guys are awesome!
