Answer to two of your questions:

Contact the IPO as soon as possible. I usually send them an email introducing myself and ask them to call me about reservations I would like them to make.

The Sunrise Safari is officially ending December 28, 2014.

OMG I didn't know it was ending this year.... are all the safaris stopping or just sunrise?!

The only reason I haven't contacted the IPO yet is I am waiting for Disney to announce the official dates of SWW 2015, because I might have to shift my reservation depending on that announcement. My guess on the dates I have chosen is a pretty good one, but you never know until they set it in stone!

Do you think I should e-mail them anyway? Heck, who knows maybe they will know sooner rather than later on when the real SWW dates are.

In 2010 we did the Wanyama sunset safari followed by a group dinner in Jiko. The whole experiance was incredible I would recommend it to everybdy to do etleast once. I believe this safari is only on Wed & Sun nt's (not certain). I would make reservations ASAP.

I heard some of our neighbors on their balcony at AKL last week discussing going on a night time safari. I don't know any details about it. Not sure how well you would see the animals after dark. Though one nt we could barely make out a giraffe in front of our balconey.

Sounds awesome.... I really hope they are keeping at least one of the safaris after hearing the sunrise one is closing at the end of the year

I saw someone mention the AKL Safari truck and that reminded me of a question. I am staying in club level so I have heard a few people mention get in on the safaris. How soon should I contact the IPO office about arranging those for us? PS has anyone done the safaris and what did you think? Which one did you like the best?

Contact IPO asap. Yesterday I called IPO to inquire about opening for the Sunrise Safari on 12/11. They said there were 3 openings left so I waited an hour after having breakfast with my family since I didn't have my card with me at the moment to call back and book and they said that there was only 1 opening left... The CM said that she will try and overbook us to see if it gets approved but if not then we'll be on the waitlist..

The other safaris stay on the AKL grounds. The Sunrise safari took you backstage at AK and then into the Kilimanjaro Safari ride for a slow long detailed ride. My total guess for ending the Sunrise is that the backstage area will be too busy with the Avatarland construction.

Either that, or it just wasn't busy enough to justify the cost, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Although they did expand it to DVC members this year, so maybe it wasn't as full as it needed to be?

Also does anyone know what time the buses start running in the morning? The one thing I will miss about staying at the Beach Club is running the boardwalk every morning. Was wondering what the earliest I could get over there via bus? Anyone care to venture a guess? I know I would prolly have to go to Epcot or Magic Kingdom run over to the Boardwalk, than run the beautiful scenery and run back to the bus stop......Any suggestions on the quickest and earliest I could do this and be back at AKL? Thanks!!!

Just a quick question, mostly for my piece of mind.

When you book room only w/ magical express, you just get the ME tags correct?

We moved 2 months ago and have been having trouble with our mail being forwarded. We found out that our local post office changed the end date on our fowarding so they didn't have to forward it anymore. I was NOT happy to say the least.

I called Disney to let them know our new address and they STILL sent the ME tags to the old address. Luckily the new forwarding order was in place.

I checked our Magicbands and that address is right. Just want to make sure we're not missing anything!

A month and two days! I'M GETTING EXCITED!

...me too! I just got notification yesterday that my bands are on their way.....also, I received my luggage tags last Friday....WOOHOO!!

Hi everyone,
Joining the thread because we are looking at staying in either Feb '16 or April '16. We are DVC members and we would like to do a split stay between GF (our home resort) and then finishing with 2 nights at AK with a savannah view. Debating Kidani Village vs Jambo House. Any suggestions? And what are the perks of staying at DVC club level at Jambo? Suggestion, input and recommendations are welcome. I should add that our boys will be almost 6 and 8 at time of travel.

What is the best standard room to request as another request option? 3rd floor in what section? Prefer not to have a direct parking lot view. Roof tops and trees or empty fields are not a problem

Just booked AKL as the second resort of a split stay for Thanksgiving Week 2015. My Husband has had some health issues this year so we decided to splurge and go for club level. We have never stayed here before but have always wanted to. We love Boma! We have eaten there for breakfast and dinner in the past and saw the holiday decorations.

We just stayed in a 5th floor room overlooking the lobby this July. The room had a rooftop view overlooking the main entrance to the lodge. You couldn't see the parking lot. It was quiet and the view was fine. We loved walking out of our room and seeing the lobby believe. It was very pretty. I would take one of those rooms again in a heartbeat.

Jambo! We'll be returning to WDW for the fourth December in a row, and after a stay at the Poly followed by two consecutive years at the Wilderness Lodge, this year we're moving to AKL. We'll be there December 8-13. I have to say, after being central to the MK, I'm a bit nervous about the location of AKL and the transportation, but it certainly looks like a lovely resort and I'm sure we'll enjoy our stay.
