Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Just thought of this question now as I was watching Rob's beautiful video.

Do we think (or has it been viewed) if the same ratio of gondola's will be on the Pop/AoA line as on the other 2 lines? It would make sense that it might be a smaller number (i.e. more spread out) as the number of guests it will be carrying will be less (I think) than the other 2, but just wondered if this is the case?

The sight of those gondolas floating in over Hourglass Lake takes my breath away! Cannot wait to be in one.

Will look forward to watching the testing while we're there next month and then hopefully riding in September!

I think you will find they are spaced roughly the same on all the lines. The could conceivably slow the POP line if they wanted to slow the amount of bodies entering trinidad station at any time. Reality, they could do that with any of the 3 lines to aid in line management.

To be fair, I wonder if they have a policy against filming their transportation systems.

Don't they have such a policy against filming and/or photographing their security checkpoints?

Could be the same thing. It happens all the time with transportation, but I wonder if they ask guests not to when they are so obvious and prolonged about it.

No film or pictures of their security (bag check areas, for example) and no pictures or video of back stage areas, but all the other public areas are fair game for most of us. Commercial use has to be approved (like if you want to make a film or tv show at Disney World or something along those lines). That's what I've learned today anyway.

Rob with Passport to the Parks was doing a livestream today from Pop Century, showing the gondola testing, and at the end a cm came up to him and said videotaping wasn't allowed ANYWHERE at Disney without an escort! Ugh. Watch the last minute or so if you want to hear how it went down.

That's just silly.....so according to the cm NO ONE is allowed to video record on disney property? Isnt that what the security said on Rob's video? I realize it's all straightened out now but fresh. I video stuff all the time.

Still though, since we have to comply when a cm says we have to do something or not do something (like what happened here, I mean), the end result is that he had to stop his video. So stupid. I hope they find a supervisor and the cm can learn the truth about their video taping policy.
I thought commercial filming was against the rules without permit, just not enforced against YouTubers.

Yeah, I'm actually pretty shocked ANY cm thought it was possible that NO videotaping or photography were allowed on ALL of Disney property! It's possible the cm was specifically thinking of bloggers/vloggers, but that's certainly not what he said during the stream. I'm glad Rob got it all straightened out with management and hopefully that cm learned something today.

Commercial filming is against the rules. YouTubers have never been considered commercial filmers. It appears there is a gray area here as some CMs believe they are and others don't.

I think the only way there'd be fewer gondolas on the Pop/AoA line is if it's shorter, distance-wise, than the other two (spacing should probably be similar between all three lines, with # of gondolas differing). Otherwise, in terms of throughput, there's a lot more occupancy at Pop+AoA than CBR, meaning they'll be most of the riders.

Pop = 2,880 rooms
AoA = 1,120 family suites plus 864 standard rooms

If you're averaging 2 people per Pop room, and 3 people per AoA suite, and 2 per LM room, and close to full occupancy, that's nearly 11,000 people.

CBR has 2,112 rooms. Even if all were filled with 5 people (and some are actually 4 max), it can't top a conservative estimate for Pop/AoA.

Busiest line will be CBR->DHS, with DHS likely to be more in-demand than Epcot, and people converging on that line from Pop/Aoa, CBR, and Riviera.

It was a momentary thought, given the sensitivity the security area gets. After thinking about it, there are a billion transportation videos on YouTube of all kinds. My son used to watch the ones where people filmed trains when he was really little.

It's just not an enforceable policy. Security is a small area, and backstage is already intentionally hidden. They are relatively easy to enforce.

Still, it's funny what random CMs will tell you.

That was weird, REAL weird. :scratchin
