Big Thunder Mountain RR temporarily closing this week
Sometimes the closures are short, only a week or so, and other times they need MAJOR work and are closed for months at a time (we’re looking at you Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster). If you’re heading into Magic Kingdom this upcoming week, you need to know about this ride closure!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
, one of the most popular rides in the park, will be closing for a temporary closure starting on January 16th.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
The closure will last through January 20th (expected to reopen for normal operating hours January 21st) and is for routine maintenance on the ride.

Pluto meet and greet at Donald's Dino-Bash

The Pluto meet and greet has returned to DinoLand U.S.A. for Donald’s Dino-Bash at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Meet and greets were suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are still phasing back in almost four years later. For a while, the Dino-Bash characters just appeared on a flotilla. Donald, Daisy, and Chip ‘n’ Dale meet and greets all returned in September 2022. After that, Goofy and Donald only appeared on the Dino-Bash flotilla. Goofy returned to DinoLand in October 2023 and now Pluto is the last character to rejoin the celebration.

Guests can meet Pluto in the mornings behind Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. Like Goofy, Pluto is meeting until approximately 11:30 a.m. or noon. Then the two will continue to appear on the Discovery River flotilla in the afternoons.

Times for the Pluto and Goofy meet and greets and the flotilla are not currently listed on the My Disney Experience app or Walt Disney World website.

Pluto is meeting in front of a Donald’s Dino-Bash medallion featuring Donald and a dinosaur. The medallion is at the top of a flag pole sticking out of a red fire hydrant with a bone on top. The pennant flag is orange, yellow, and green, the main colors of Donald’s Dino-Bash.

Donald has exchanged his collar for a purple bandanna patterned with neon green dinosaur skeletons. His bone-shaped “Pluto” tag is a matching green.

Donald’s Dino-Bash is an everyday celebration of birds like Donald and Daisy being descended from dinosaurs. Watch our 2020 video of the Dino-Bash flotillas below.

Walt Disney World guests can also meet Pluto at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Magic Kingdom and at World Celebration Gardens in EPCOT. He appears for character dining meals at Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Garden Grill at EPCOT, and Hollywood & Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

And they actually lose business from me because I don't want to schlep my purchases around with me all day at the park.
I agree with that! In previous years, it was nothing for me to spend $750 - $1000 on merch and pins in a single visit. (we went yearly in December)

We went in March 2023 and the only thing I purchased was a popcorn bucket because I did not want to carry items around all day and possibly lose them.

I'll be there Memorial day weekend so it being a holiday weekend and the last few days of Flower and Garden will make Epcot a disaster around that time LOL

I thought the same thing. It's a shame since Flower and Garden is my favorite festival visually.

I hope it doesn't mean Food and Wine is even longer. That festival is boring IMO.
Coming this Summer, the EPCOT International Festival of the Sun. They place reflective murals all over the place and just turn EPCOT into even more of a furnace. 😂🤣
