RUMOR: Buzz Says ‘Space Mountain’ at Disneyland will be Replaced with ‘LIGHTYEAR’ Mountain as Part of Tomorrowland Overhaul

So, rumor has it that Space Mountain at Disneyland will be overhauled (not simply receiving an overlay like Hyperspace Mountain or Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy) to represent the “Lightyear” film as the centerpiece of the Tomorrowland overhaul that will be under construction for the next few years. This rumor seems somewhat confirmed by the clear presence of the structure in the film.

To follow up, this is super unlikely now as the film underperformed at the weekend box-office, with about $51M. Expectations were more in the $70M range, and while that does not mean it is a flop by any means, it does mean it is unlikely to be considered a big hit either. I doubt they will pursue a heavy park presence with it.

RUMOR: Disney Vacation Club Considering Paid Member Perks Program

With many Disney Vacation Club member benefits discontinued as we emerge from the pandemic, we’ve long been left to question what the future holds for this perk of direct purchases. A recent rumor, however, may hold the key to what is in store for DVC Member benefits and extras!

Disney Vacation Club is apparently considering a new paid benefits program entitled “Membership Magic Diamond Level”. Members can opt-in to this new level of membership extras for a yearly annual fee, rumored to cost around $100 per year.

Rumored benefits include:
  • Enhanced Park Access
  • Priority Room Upgrades
  • Exclusive Ticket Offers
  • Premium Offerings on Disney Vacations
  • Expanded Access to Members Only Spaces
This rumor may answer the question as to how many member benefits will be returning. Want to visit the new “reimagined” Top of the World Lounge? You might have to be a DVC Membership Magic Diamond Level Member. Looking for a discounted Walt Disney World Annual Pass? You might be shelling out an additional $100 for that yearly benefit.

This could be bad or not bad, its really going to come down to the offerings and how the pricing works. As a family of 5 paying $500 a year would be too much, but if its per membership and includes the immediate kids in the house then $100 isn't too bad.

For my wife and I, it's a holiday today at least. So Monday isn't too bad!
Same for DH. Also we're at DHS so a good Monday all around : )

We didn't rope drop today since last night was long day and night, but at 9:30ish single rider RnR single rider was quick.
Bit the bullet and bought ILL for GotG for later. Will try for virtual queue also but don't want to plan days around what we might or might not get lol. DD wants to do the F&G concerts too.

It's really a shame AK doesn't do night hours when its dark. Even if just somthing for Pandora at night. ( First time seeing it...finally... and so pretty! Shame all that effort into it and winter hrs 5 pm closes and summer it's still light out. )

Sorry...way off topic for news, but I have this from Tron yesterday :)

Gold Christmas Tree Popcorn Bucket from Disney Springs

The Gold Christmas Tree Popcorn Buckets are back for the festivities! If you weren’t able to get your hands on them during the holidays previously, no need to fret because all across Disney Springs at outdoor vending carts, you’ll be able to find these buckets. Not to mention, popcorn is included with the purchase – what a treat! But don’t wait too long because these are only available while supplies last.

I don't know how they could realistically make it work with a per person rate given DVC members could be traveling with different party sizes on any given trip. Not to say they won't find a way to add that type of caveat but I'd wager it's a flat fee to start.

Do you know when will be open to ride?

That hasn't been announced yet. It is definitely getting pretty close to complete, but it's hard to say. Sometimes they wait for an opportune moment, though they really don't need to. I am going to guess it will be open for the holiday season, but that's really just a guess.

The link has been updated to state that this incident happened back in February, but the video was just reuploaded with claims it happened today.

Seems like they must have been able to repair it since then.

I would pay the extra $100/ membership if it meant no more park reservations needed for anyone in my party, great discount on APs and anytime park hopping!
