Probably more to "wash" your feet so nothing is tracked in.

For that they could put trays at the entrance with disinfectant you‘d have to walk through.

True, but so many people are barefoot, or wearing water shoes that would allow the disinfectant through, etc.

Bur it‘s more fun anyways to enter through the waterfalls. Didn‘t even DISCOVER there‘s another way into the aviary until my third bisit or so.

I don't like that people can only get to the aviary through the lazy river. I always bring my camera, and now I have no way to get it there

Is the aviary open yet? And by open I mean you can travel through it AND the birds are back.

I was there last week and it is open. You can’t enter without going into the lazy River, but there is an entrance before the waterfall.

And yes, plenty of birds and you can feed them
