Fan-Favorite, Limited-Time Festivals Return to the Disneyland Resort in 2022: Lunar New Year and Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival

On December 2, 2021, Disney Parks Blog announced that the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will be back in 2022 and run from Friday, March 4 to Tuesday, April 26, 2022. The 53-day festival is the same amount of time the 2020 festival was scheduled to run.

Disney promised a return of festival favorites such as a dozen food marketplaces (aka booths), the Sip and Savor Pass, culinary demonstrations, live musical performances, Carthay Circle Winemaker Receptions, and Wine, Beer and Mixology Education & Tasting Seminars.

The 2020 Food & Wine Festival only ran for 16 days before the parks closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A modified festival, A Touch of Disney, ran briefly in Spring 2021 before the parks were able to reopen in May 2021.

February 7, 2022

We haven't received very much information on this year's F&W Festival since it was announced over two months ago. With the Lunar New Year celebration coming to a close on February 14, I'm optimistic that we will get additional details released soon.

But today we did get one nugget from Disney Parks Blog: Disneyland's "Celebrate Soulfully" campaign that celebrates Black culture will continue through this year's F&W Festival.

February 9, 2022

Thanks to DIS Board members who are also Disney Rewards Visa members, we know a few of the marketplaces and food items that will be at the F&W Festival this year. In a recent mailer to Disney Visa members, they highlighted some of the tasty treats we can expect this year.
  • Avocado Time
    • Frozen Guacamole
  • D Lish
    • Cubano Slider on Hawaiian Sweet Roll

    • Orange Grove Cold Brew

What are the chances any of the booths might open at the beginning of the week for testing? My last day is Tuesday 3/1 so I guess I'll be missing it this time around.

The earliest they ever open is the day before the official start date.

We'll probably get a better idea of what booths are coming the week or two after the Lunar New Year Celebration ends on February 13.

Fingers crossed that we will get the seminar and chefs line-up this week. It seems like they were really hyping Lunar New Year more than usual this year, so I expect they didn't want to detract from that.

I was actually there for the F & W festival in March of 2020 when they shut down everything for Covid so I only had 2 days to try anything and then had to scramble to arrange to get back home. Now I'm heading back to use up the tickets they issued me to cover what was left on my 5 day pass that I requested the night before they actually shut down. I wish they'd be a little more consistent with their F&W dates like WDW.

I was there the weekend before things shut down so I had a bit more time. But in my visits since then, I've worn my 2020 F&W Festival shirt and cast members have asked if I'm also a cast member because so few guests had the chance to buy merch and the 2020 stuff was all on extreme discount in the cast member shop. :D

My DL trips have been few, I get to WDW way more. Two of my DL trips have ended with resort closures now, 9/11/2001 & Covid-March of 2020. 9/11 was a bit different as I ended up stuck there trying to get a flight back home to NY for days but finally ended up having to fly to my brother's in VA while my parents drive down there to pick me up. Also was at WDW back in the late 90's the first time they ever shut down for a hurricane.

We are headed to DL for spring break in March! So excited we'll get to experience this. We are veteran WDW goers but this will be new for us. Any tips or tricks? Is it like the Epcot F&W festival?

Epcot F&W Festival food is better. Disneyland really likes pushing impossible meat which you may or may not like and in my opinion, the food items aren't quite as diverse/interesting. Big tip would be to avoid the lunch rush where lines can get super long. If you know what you want, you can order all the foods you want at one booth and then pick it up later. Just remember to pick them up before they run out which can happen later in the day.

There's also some small activities like arts/crafts, cooking demonstrations, a show with Chip/Dale called Jammin Chefs and some years, characters in chef costumes.

I was a WDW F & W regular up until a few years ago. My one DL F & W experience was two years ago the day before they shutdown for COVID. I attended a special D23 event where the DL festival organizers explained that they prefer to tailor their offerings to their more local clientele (what they called California Inspired) as opposed to WDW where they offer foods that appeal to a worldwide (International) audience. Not very good for the tourists who don't care for the mostly vegan, asian, mexican & latin inspired foods. Don't they eat Meat & Potatoes in CA? Actually they did have some tasty items but lest than half the amount of booths that WDW has.
Since I only had one day I wasn't able to take advantage of their Sip & Savor Pass for the food booths because they stopped selling them. It is similar to the pass you used to be able to buy at the WDW F & W that was good for a certain number of food offerings at the booths.

We are legitimately past the January 20th and 23rd dates (2020) for "Winemaker Dinner" and "Tickets for events go live, including new culinary tour" in 2022. I hope they drop soon so I can see if anything exciting is happening the final weekend in April. We did the Trader Sam's mixology class a few years back and it was an awesome event! We still make the Tangaroa Cooler we crafted and sampled at the event. The wine tasting were fun too, but the TS's event was awesome.

I know, this is quite late. I keep check Parks blog and DL website every day in case I've missed something. I wonder if they are having any problem booking people or supply chain-related issues?
