Dancing in disney

The room looks great!

It was great being on the first floor...it was quiet..except for one instance that I will describe later :faint:. The beds were comfy. The ac and ceiling fan were heavenly. :cool1:

Everything worked and we didnt spend a lot of time in the room anyways.

Good morning Dissers!
So this morning is Saturday morning. I woke up at 6 am as usual. I look over at the girls and they are sound asleep.

So two things happen. First I pull a Memom. After doing a little work on my ipad, I get antsy and decide to go out and take pics of the resort at 6:30 am. Don't you do that on every trip, Memom? I was thinking of you as I was doing it too! ;) :rotfl::rotfl:

The second thing...is that I had the group camera (which I had to pass onto the next person today) and my hubby's camera/video. I am already regretting not just bringing my dslr...the pictures did not come out as nicely as they would have.:rotfl: So I apologize for the quality of the pics in advance. But here they are anyways! ha!

Leaving my room and looking left I see...

100_2891.jpg
http://[/IMG]

and to the right I see...

100_2890.jpg
[/IMG]

and this picture sums up why I love this resort now....

100_2892.jpg
[/IMG]

This pathway goes around and through the entire resort. Its for pedestrians, golf carts and if you are really lucky, you can have a horse-drawn carriage ride around it at night. :cloud9::cloud9:

This grass courtyard is pretty and directly across from my room/building

100_2895.jpg
[/IMG]

Here are the movies which are played out in the courtyard at night. Notice the start time....9 pm.

100_2896.jpg
[/IMG]

So I continued my walk past my building heading to the center of the resort. It was about a 2 min walk. I come to the crossroad and the back of the main building.

100_2897.jpg
[/IMG]

If I turn around 180 degrees, I see this:

100_2898.jpg
[/IMG]

That pathway past the three "band playing" alligators leads to the hot tub, playground and the pool area.

100_2899.jpg
[/IMG]

This is the kiddie splash pool

100_2901.jpg
[/IMG]

and the main pool which wasn't open yet. It didn't open until 9 am on the dot. (and closed at 11 pm on the dot)

100_2902.jpg
[/IMG]

I turned around and walked back to the Main building. You can see the sun is rising now....

100_2903.jpg
[/IMG]

Going into the lobby area.....so pretty

100_2904.jpg
[/IMG]

So I am getting close to my picture max so let me continue in the next post! :thumbsup2

Registration. I went in there twice. Once to ask a question about my fp+ ressie. One of the ones I canceled still continued to show up on my list. Plus the new one I made. I wanted to double check that it wasn't going to mess me up somehow. The second time I went in there was to replace Devon's magic band. They could not have been nicer both times. Makes you love Disney!

100_2906.jpg
[/IMG]

I wondered past the piano playing ragtime jazz type music...

100_2908.jpg
[/IMG]

and into the food court.

100_2910.jpg

100_2911.jpg

100_2912.jpg

100_2913.jpg

100_2914.jpg
[/IMG]

So I wondered out the side door and headed down to the river for some shots. Are you still walking around with me? Come one! :cool2:

100_2915.jpg
[/IMG]

This path leads to POR Riverside. Did you know people jog along this in the morning? So pretty isnt it?

100_2916.jpg
[/IMG]

I peeked in on the pool area too.

100_2917.jpg
[/IMG]

This slide is very popular!

100_2918.jpg
[/IMG]

Here is the boat dock. I didnt have time to try the boat to DTD. I took a bus instead but I have done this trip once when we stayed at Riverside. Really fun...once the boat comes...and you get on. Waiting for it to come...not so much.

100_2919.jpg
[/IMG]

Here I was trying to get a pic of the spanish moss in the trees...darn camera

100_2922.jpg
[/IMG]

I decided I had better head back to the room...past the themed laundry facilities but the pool....good thinking Disney, good thinking! :thumbsup2

100_2923.jpg
[/IMG]

Towards my room...

100_2924.jpg
[/IMG]

The back of my building had a sweet little garden...

100_2925.jpg
[/IMG]

You could even see the bus stop over there...straight ahead.,,, beyond the silver van where the little green roof is. Very convenient!!

100_2926.jpg
[/IMG]

Pretty garden..

100_2927.jpg
[/IMG]

OK so I used my handy dandy magic band to let myself into the room quietly and the girls were still sleeping. :scratchin

WE ARE IN DISNEY!!! Sleeping is so over-rated.

So I let them sleep a little more and rustled around enough to wake them up! ha! We had swimming to do you know. And breakfast with a coupon! So stay tuned to see all of that.
Thanks for reading and lurking!! :coffee:

Good morning Dissers!

And now you see why I do it. Not only are you burning valuable daylight Disney hours by sleeping in, but look at the wonderful no/few people pictures you can get. I quite enjoyed every step of this morning walk with you, and every step of the way I could so easily sense being there. We've only stayed there once, but we've visited many times. Brooklynn loved the slide there.

I am a bit sad that I won't get to do morning walks the three days we are at Boardwalk on this trip. I'll have Brooklynn and Bella, and I can't leave them sleeping alone, in case they were to wake up before I get back. Marc, Anita, and Baylor will be there, but I wouldn't want them to have to watch Bella if she happened to wake up. Brooklynn would sleep until noon, if she could, but Bella is an early riser. If there is a morning when she's up with me and Brooklynn is asleep, she and I will take a quick walk. I won't have any worries about Brooklynn waking anyone else up.

The walk between POR and POFQ is one of my favorites on property. It's so pretty and peaceful.

Love the pictures Cathy!

Marci

Thank you Marci! It is fun re-living the trip. The resort was so peaceful....maybe that is the word I am looking for. Plus we stayed off site last time and it was soooo nice to be on property this time!!!

I am so GLAD you liked my walk :cool1: The slide and pool area was wonderful. Hopefully Bella will wake up and you can do at least a little walking. I am excited about your trip coming up so soon! It is soooo much fun to meet other people there...course I dont need to tell you that. Really Marc and Anita are like family at this point ;)

****************************************************

Ok so I am going to do a short update in the next post! ya!

Why good morning!!!! :goodvibes

The girls woke up! :cool1:

I may have been a little noisy too...but it was our first full day in Disney and I was excited! Plus I didnt have to cook or clean up breakfast...that in and of itself was fabulous!!

The girls got ready...I believe in bathing suits and coverups for breakfast. Now, the food courts have gotten pretty fancy. The have a menu board with pictures of all of the platters and food options. It rotates between all of the offerings at each station so you can read and see what you are ordering. Talk about great! :surfweb: Check plus Disney making it easier to get a decision quickly out of my children.

So it looks like Brooklyn and I had Mickey waffles and Devon had a cinnamon bun and fruit.

IMG_0081.jpg
[/IMG]

A little butter and a little syrup...yummo!

IMG_0082.jpg
[/IMG]

The nice thing is...we didnt have far to go after this.

Alright....one thing you have to understand is that for every Disney trip, I have had to get everyone up and out for rope drop....which is tiring. We do get on all of the attractions we want and then leave mid-day. During that time I am the fast pass runner. I am never in line without a fastpass for another attraction. Right? You did this too?

Then along came fastpass plus....where I planned out my fastpasses ahead of time. Would this work??? Would my magic band work??? :confused3

So this whole sleep in and go to the pool and then the park at night was foreign to me.

So the pool opened at 9 am and we were standing by....there was actually a rope drop at the pool. I kid you not. :rotfl: I mentioned it to the cast member and they laughed and said they never thought of it like that.:headache:

My girls are fish so they were dying to get in! Brooklyn had to run back to the room and get goggles. Meanwhile Devon and her friend were picked to "open the pool". Yaa! I took pics and video.

IMG_0083.jpg
[/IMG]

If you click this link it should take you to the video clip:

They loved the waterslide...who doesnt? :confused3 :yay: :cheer2:

My spot!

IMG_0088.jpg
[/IMG]

So the girls swam and played and friends were around so it made it super fun! The life guards literally stalk/walk back and forth and back and forth...which is normally my job. They were very serious about their watching to the point that I actually stayed in my chair even when the girls were out of sight...which I never do.

And there you go! The first part of our day! yaaa!

Come back soon for the afternoon and see which park we picked! :thumbsup2

Glad to see you were able to enjoy the relaxing Disney trip without stressing over FP and rides. We took some days to go in the park late and soak up the atmosphere. It was probably the most relaxed Disney trip we have ever had. I know you were experiencing anxiety about not having everything planned. But in the long run, it looks like it was an awesome trip. :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

I was anxious about the bands working!!But they were fabulous!!! I love the relaxing in the park part.... :cool1: so much nicer than running like crazy which I have done. :rolleyes1

So it was time to head back to the room...took me 20 minutes to find the girls and pack up our stuff. We took showers and dressed for our day at....

....Magic Kingdom :cool1: :yay:

We had lunch planned for Be Our Guest and our window was between 1:30 and 2 pm. We also picked out our meals ahead of time. :thumbsup2

Our three fast passes were for BTMR, Spl M and SDMT. Would our bands which were working so nicely opening our room door, work at the MK turnstiles? At the attractions? :confused3 I dunno, but we were about to find out.

100_2932.jpg
[/IMG]

The bus stop was just behind our building and when we walked up a Magic Kingdom bus was just opening its door. pixiedust:pixiedust: Yep...first pixie dust!

100_2933.jpg
[/IMG]

100_2934.jpg
[/IMG]

IMG_0089.jpg
[/IMG]

With all of this picture taking, I am surprised we even made it onto the bus!

But here we are....first ride and we didnt even go around the stops at POR. :yay:

IMG_0090.jpg
[/IMG]

So they added another whole line of bus depot stops at MK....and we got off at one of them. We walked a while before reaching the bag check. Got through that and then came the moment of truth. Would our bands work???

We got the white mickey head spinning, put our index finger in and...it turned GREEN!! :yay:

We celebrated with a photopass pic. Yes, I ordered the Memory Maker ahead of time. So, kids, we are going to use it so get ready!

wd032wdw201417289072356_7000956401_18-1.jpeg
[/IMG]

Can you tell it was hot....not unbearable...but hot....and that's when Devon's eye hurt...her right eye/eyebrow was stinging. So we did what we always do at MK, head in and go right to the bathrooms. :sad2: Happens every time. Devon put cold water on it but it didnt help. The Move It Shake It Parade was in full swing (blocking the streets) so we decided to go through the stores (Emporium) to first aid. I had never been there but they were really nice. They had Devon wash the area with soap and cold water. I think it was sunscreen causing it but the soap really helped and she was right as rain in a few minutes. Crisis abated.:thumbsup2

I let her use my sunglasses for a while cause they are mom's magical glasses which also help. So it was time to enjoy the top of Main Street minus the parade. We had about 5-10 min to stroll our way to BOG. Time for more pictures!

So, about a month prior, I had finally given up trying to get ressies at BOG for dinner and figured we would all enjoy Columbia Harbor House for lunch and Plaza Restaurant for dinner. Then I remembered Kathy Werling (dis podcast) talking about getting lunch fastpasses for BOG. Here is how it works. You go to the website and select fast entry or pre-plan your meal. And I did not want to wait in line on the bridge at 1:30 pm in the summer. (hence CHH choice) however with this fastpass entry I could skip the line. How cool is that?!!! :yay: Best part is...it didn't take up my three fast passes at MK since it was a separate system. Once I selected fast entry, it then allowed us to pick our meals too. Yaa! So we walked up to the cast member who showed us the check in podium. We were on the list! We then walked past everyone waiting on the bridge in the darn heat and sun (Disney provides water which is sweet but they are going to have to do something about providing shade). We went to the CM at the door and we were escorted inside right away to the left of the line inside. We then were escorted to the kiosk where you select and pay. She reviewed our selections we had already made and I paid. We were given our "rose" locator and off we went. I let the girls pick where we would sit. We sat in the main ball room once so they picked the West Wing!!

100_2935.jpg
[/IMG]

100_2936.jpg
[/IMG]

Then Devon wanted to explore so she took off with the camera to take some pics....Not enough room on this post so I am moving on to the next one. Keep going.....

Devon took off with the camera and took all these shots!

I have no idea where she gets the picture taking bug from :confused3:scratchin:

She was back in a jiffy and I had to get some pics myself!

IMG_0095.jpg
[/IMG]

Our server with the cart and food came about 10-15 minutes after we sat down. Since we were taking pictures and getting drinks and checking our messages, it went by really fast. I got what I always get here...pot roast with green beans and mashies. And the strawberry cupcake. Devon got the kids grilled cheese and Brooklyn got the melted ham and cheese from the adult menu. We weren't on the dining plan per say so they could order what ever they wanted which was super duper nice. The kids meal plan stinks sometimes.

IMG_0096.jpg
[/IMG]

IMG_0097.jpg
[/IMG]

It was pretty dark in the West Wing but so themed and wonderful! Loved it and the food was great as usual. Love this place!!! :thumbsup2 Two thumbs up!

Brooklyn, my worry wort, was trying to back out of our first fp for BTMRR. :worried: I really tried to downplay it and remind her that its her favorite ride. But she was so worried or full and didnt eat her cupcake. Poor thing. We hit the bathroom and prepared for our afternoon in the sun. I had a plan though.

IMG_0098.jpg
[/IMG]

IMG_0099.jpg
[/IMG]

IMG_0101.jpg
[/IMG]

To settle Brooklyn, we talked about happy things and new things in the park...such as this cool area...Rapunzel's bathrooms

IMG_0103.jpg
[/IMG]

and I just tried not to let her fears ruin her fun. So we got to BTMRR via the short cut. We tried our bands....and it turned green! ::yes::

Yaaa....we walked up the pathway and entered the line at the ramp going down. It was about a 5-10 min wait maybe? I was happy so I wasnt really keeping track. We got Brooklyn on the train..front row actually...can you see is both happy and nervous?

IMG_0104.jpg
[/IMG]

We were ready for the wildest ride in the wilderness!!! Off we went!

IMG_0105.jpg
[/IMG]

Ummm she was not too sure about this yet....

IMG_0106.jpg
[/IMG]

IMG_0107.jpg
[/IMG]

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee...up and we went! Second lift hill....

IMG_0108.jpg
[/IMG]

...and her reaction at the end....

IMG_0110.jpg.html

IMG_0112.jpg
[/IMG]

Dont worry....I wasnt pushing her too much since the next night she asked to ride it three times in a row. :hyper:

Next our FP for Splash Mountain was ready....and no matter what I did or said, there was no way Brooklyn would agree to go on it with us. Devon tried her best. We even went to the cute little gift shop and I bribed her with a gift for going on it. Nothing. No how and no way. OK, I set her up in a nice cool shady spot next to the bridge where she could see us twice. I left her with the phone, water, and mister fan kind of tucked away on the side. She was perfectly content. We stayed there for a few minutes and then Devon and I headed for the fp line.

And that is all for now folks! :flower3:

I never got my BOG FP so I chalked it up to waiting too long. When we went into the park late one day, I had a 1:30 FP for Belle. We went through that and was going to go to Gaston's for a drink when I saw NO LINE on the bridge. I asked the CM if they were still open. They said you had to be in there to order by 2:30. Of course Tate was at Guest Services. I called him and told him to hurry because once they closed the doors no one else was allowed in (even if we were inside)...I guess it is Fort Knox. The one CM was nice and told me to go hang out by the door and explain he is enroute. The next one was rude and said oh well if he's not here tough. The last one was going to have me order for him to ensure we had our food. Just as I was going to go in, he came down the bridge. We did not get a rose, they used the magic bands.. When we checked in, they scanned it, when we paid they scanned the same one. They said pick a seat and your food will find you. It took me until the showed up at the table to realize it was the magic bands since I was shocked we got in. While Disney magic, it was a little creepy..It was big brother following you. I like the bands, but there were a few whoa, that's a bit creepy moments for me. The sandwiches were prob the best quick serve meal we have ever eaten there. So glad we got in there... :cool1: :dance3:

I danced in Disney in 96 and 98. It solidified my obsession ;). I remember trying to take some pics "backstage" and a cm threatened to take my camera :). It was so much fun-my first parentless trip. We danced on a tomorrowland stage that isn't there any more.

I think at first that was one of the big objections to the MB, was that Disney could track were you are. BUT, they use it to help guest flow not pinpoint you exactly....but I get that some people feel their "privacy" is invaded. Love the food at BOG too! Glad you all made it in there!

That is sooo awesome that you danced in Disney! Uggg about the backstage pics...I am pretty sure that they would still be the same way. I know on backstage magic tour they dont allow cameras and such. I do recall that stage area in TL....what did they do with that area? Did they turn it into a parking lot?

Hello again! Are you having a zippity do da day? I left you at Splash Mountain. Our magic bands worked great again! yaaa! We waved to Brooklyn as we went by. Wanna see our photopass pic? Devon and I are in the last row:

splashmountain-1.jpeg
[/IMG]

:confused::rolleyes1:headache:

YEP...we felt like Mike Wisowski. Oh well.

We then had some downtime until our next fastpass. So we decided to take the train around to Fantasyland (I almost said Toontown). Here we are waiting just a few minutes on the platform.

IMG_0113.jpg
[/IMG]

I was trying to use my lines app to figure out what to do. I knew we wanted to try some attractions without lines but I couldnt get any reception out in the wilds of Indian Country as we made our way around to FL. So we arrived and walked by the splash area..what fun. The girls didn't want to get wet. :confused3 even though it was really hot. I think we voted to try Under the Sea...the wait time was 20 min according to the app. Yes, I did get reception finally. So off we went to see if it true. The posted wait time was the same and there were a bunch of people (10-12?) standing at the entrance of the stand by, I guess deciding what they were doing. Some of their party started walking and some didn't. The three of us went around the people that didnt go and started walking the queue. I had never done standby on this attraction so I was looking forward to trying it. Once we got up to where the line stopped, the rest of the party that straggled behind came up and started passing us to get with the rest of the group. It was like 5 or 6 people which I have no problem with. Then a lady and kid who I didnt think was in their group started to "invade our space" and was trying to pass me...but we werent moving anywhere but she was way too close. KWIM? So I simply asked her if she was with them and she said no. I guess she backed off at that point. Anyways other than that the queue was fun..they had some interactive dinghoppers with Sebastian and fun music. The AC was really nice. We finally made it in in about 20 minutes like they said. Yaaa! A quick pic before our clamshell.

IMG_0114.jpg
[/IMG]

What a cute and fun attraction! After we headed out into the heat! We decided that a nice icey treat from across the way looked good!

100_2951.jpg
[/IMG]

We were heading back to fix Brooklyns fastpass. I couldnt get enough reception on my phone to change it. So the last tent right by the train tracks is a "secret" place to get that done. We changed Brooklyn's unused Splash Mountain fp to Winnie the Pooh. Since Devon and I hadnt used our third FP we couldnt add a forth. Darn. The CM said to come back after our third and they would add us to the Pooh fp. Okie dokie. Soooooo we decided to walk all the way to Its a Small World and take some pics of Mine Train too. Off we went:

Here we are going by Beast's castle again...
100_2952.jpg
[/IMG]

And by Ariel's UTSA...and there was a photopass guy...soooo...picture time!

And here is the Mine Train as we went past...

IMG_0116.jpg

IMG_0117.jpg
[/IMG]

We were getting excited about our turn! So we walked all the way over to IaSW and it was down :(

The sun was beating down on us and we needed AC...sooo....where would you go? Why Mickey's Philharmagic of course! The plan was to hop from AC to AC until it was cool!

We really enjoyed the show! Next we headed to Dumbo cause it had a cool tent to play in. There was hardly a line! So I let the girls play for a bit then we got in line...about a five minute wait. Devon wanted to go with me and Brooklyn wanted to go by herself. She took off and was completely on the other side...here she is over there somewhere on an elephant..ha!

IMG_0123.jpg
[/IMG]

And here we are..

IMG_0127.jpg
[/IMG]

So finally it was time for the Mine Train...I will continue in the next post...ran out of room here!

It was finally Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Time! yaaaaaaaa :cheer2:

IMG_0118.jpg
[/IMG]

Stand by looked horrid. Call me crazy but I just don't stand in lines longer than 30 minutes. :hourglass And it was really still pretty hot at this point. Let me check the time...5 pm. :beach: Still hot!

After this little mini photoshoot (since Brooklyn's outfit matched the attraction it was mandatory), we tried our magic bands...it worked! ya!

People were walking fast and I didnt have a chance to enjoy any of the queue...we stopped for a quick pic and that was it.

Ok so they fill ALL available seating on the train...which means as a group of three, the two girls were together and I was sitting squished :crowded: in next to a stranger and his two girls were behind him. Mine were in front of me. I think his wife was farther back. Something to consider if you are traveling as a family. The girls were in a "different" car than me. Luckily they were old enough but I can imagine if a little one wanted to sit with mom and dad or something they were going to be quite put off. Also, the loading is frantically fast. Get on...GO!

I took the pic and told Devon to keep her arms INSIDE the train at all times....No fingers were harmed in the making of this trip report :p

WEEEEEEEE......

It was fun but I felt a little short. Maybe cause I was taking pics. I told the girls we would definitely ride again the next night during EMH. So we had about an hour or so left. We were dying to check out Big Top Souvenirs and I tried to convince the girls to do a meet and greet with Goofini..with no luck. So shopping it was...and AC! Oh and we also fixed our fast passes so at 7:30 pm we could all go on Winnie the Pooh without a line. Yaaa for forth fp!

It was getting close to our ADR for the Plaza so we decided to head that way. We went between the castle and the back of Cosmic Rays on that pathway that goes by the rose garden. We checked in and got our flashing light/vibrating thingy and headed to the bathrooms next to the Plaza and TTR. The thing went off in the bathroom. Happens everytime. lol. LOVE the Plaza Restaurant. It is small and quaint and nice and cool! We got a nice table in the corner. It was nice to sit down...we had been walking since lunch!

It took us a while to decide. I got the strawberry, grilled chicken salad, Devon got a burger and Brooklyn got a cheesesteak. It was yummy as usual and our waiter was great. Very efficient. I think I drank like three unsweetened ice teas and he kept up with me too. We all saved room for dessert cause that is the point of eating here!!!

The girls split this....(get it?)

Loving the pictures and report. We love the Little mermaid ride. How was the areas around the hub with all of the construction?

The crowds didnt seem to bad except leaving after Wishes but even then, they moved along...Pack your patience! The hub construction didnt bother me too much because I had taken quite a few pics around there on the last trip. It is still pretty easy to move along since they didnt block the walkways. I hope the final result will be nice!

Oh please let me know if you do one...it is fun to re-live the trip and I bet you have great pics!

Hello! Gee I think a week went by in a flash!! So I am back for more updates. I left last at our dinner at the Plaza!! We were heading out at 7:30 pm and our intentions were to go use our FP for Winnie the Pooh. However, as we entered Main St and were walking over the bridge, I notice people were lining up for the parade already. It starts at 9 pm. Big Sigh. I really wanted to get a good spot and as we entered the hub...there were perfectly open spots. I asked a cast member if we could sit there and they said yes. I was in disbelief. The whole side walk was open facing the castle. So I plopped down:banana: next to the trash can which would block next to us. Here was our view:

Within about 5 minutes the spots and sidewalk were filled and people started a second row behind us.

By 7:50 pm it looked like this....and there was a distant thunderstorm which was scaring poor Brooklyn to death.

[/IMG]

Luckily the storm wasnt headed for MK..and went by....but showed us our own light show none-the-less!

So we people watched. Devon and Brooklyn left to go to the bathroom once and perhaps go on Pooh by themselves whilest I guarded our spots!

We also asked the people behind us to watch our spot while we got a quick photopass pic in front of the partners statue....

We people watched as it began to get darker. I had light up bracelets so the girls put them together. I passed some out to our neighbors too!

We did some selfies...lol
