Christmas 2012 I made a huge exciting treasure hunt for my children who were 7 and had twins that were 4. At the end of the treasure hunt we had a countdown on the fridge saying x amount of days until we go to Walt Disney World. We has never been to Disney World before and it was our first trip ever for everyone in our family. I had spent months and months planning. When we got there my son ended up getting very sick with some sort of infection, was in and out of hospital and him and our family missed out on a lot of the things we had planned. I had been pinching pennies ever since to try and get us back there again asap and without having to spend too much $$$. So..... Just before Halloween I booked a November trip with the free dining plan and booked to stay at Pop Century. Last time my parents and sister came with us and we stayed at the AOA resort which we loved. This time my mother in law and sister in law came with us. Here is my trip report from this much better, no one got sick, trip. :) Again I planned this trip like a crazy person and had an itinerary for where we were going each day, what rides/attractions we were doing and where we were eating all of our meals. I think planning is half the fun. I also ended up with AMAZING reservations despite having only a month to plan. That being said though, I had to check reservations everyday 100 times in order to get the ones I wanted. I found that around 8pm at night or first thing in the morning around 6am was when resos for Be Our Guest and other good restaurants would suddenly become available.

Tuesday November 12th after our children got home from school I had them all sit down at the kitchen table. I had wrapped up a big adorable Minnie Mouse who was holding a letter. My daughter who was 8, opened the envelope and read it out loud. It said "Surprise! We are all going on a Disney Vacation RIGHT NOW!!!" My girls starting screaming and dancing around and were super excited, my son however was upset and saying No no no since he would rather go to swimming lessons that they would have to miss that night. LOL. He was fine though once we explained he could go to Disney and swim in the bowling pin pool at Pop Century soon (he LOVES bowling for some reason). So all 7 of us (DH, me, DD, the twins and my MIL and SIL) hopped in the van and headed to Detroit (we are from Canada and it is much cheaper to fly out of the states). We spent the night at a hotel where we could also keep our vehicle parked for the week. The hotel wasn't the nicest but was just fine and our vehicle was still there when we got back. Their shuttle got us to the airport no problem the next morning. We flew with Southwest this time and the flight was very good and the kids made out great without having the tv that they had last time when we flew with JetBlue (also a good airline, just more expensive).

November 13th - Once we arrived in Orlando I was very surprised that we didn't have a wait for the Magical Express. We arrived a bit earlier in the morning then our last trip and we basically just walked up and went straight on the bus to our resort. Last time in January when we were there (which was to be the least busy week of the entire year at Disney) we waited in line for well over an hour to catch the bus. I must say as well that this trip I found the parks to be way less crowded then they were the week in January which really surprised me. When we checked in we were given our magic bands and were given our rooms side by side in the bowling pin section that we requested. We found the beds to be bigger (longer) then the ones in the Little Mermaid room at the AOA. My husband was quite happy and slept WAY better at Pop Century. We went for a quick swim for my son and by the time we got back our luggage had all been delivered to our room for us. We then got the girls in their princesses dresses and headed to the Magic Kingdom. The castle lights were gorgeous and we enjoyed the fireworks and the Electrical parade that night. We were however FREEZING. It was way colder then we expected and CMs were saying it was unseasonably cold. The weather got much better the rest of our trip thank goodness. That day we used our FP+ for Buzz Lightyear, and the Rapunzel princess meet and greet. We had one for Wishes but didn't need to use it as we found a nice spot right up close front and center a few minutes before the show started. :) During the day I got my one daughters picture taken with Rapunzel dressed as Rapunzel and the other ones picture taken with Snow White dressed as Snow White. (I do this a lot and we brought tons of costumes with us. We did that last time too with different costumes - I think it makes for amazing character meets). Meal wise that day we ate a QS supper at Cosmic Rays and it was quite good as far as QS meals go.

Nov 14th - We started off our day with an early morning swim in the bowling pin pool again. Then we headed to Magic Kingdom again. We used our fastpasses for talking Mickey, Peter Pan and Enchanted Tales with Belle. Enchanted Tales with Belle was BY FAR my favourite attraction and event of our entire trip. Just before our trip I lucked out and found a Beast costume at a locale Value Village and it was brand new with tags. I had never seen one before and it was the most adorable thing on my son. I wish I knew how to attach pics to show you. His twin sister was dressed as Belle. Can you get any cuter? I don't think so! Anyhow, my daughter dressed as Belle got to be Philippe the horse and my son was chosen ofcourse to be the Beast. My oldest daughter got to be a dinner plate. :) It was so magical to see my son dancing with Belle at the end of the play and we did a wonderful bow at the end. Belle gave him a great big kiss on the cheek after. Priceless! Talking Mickey was also very cool and he did a magic trick with my children. During the day we also met Gaston who was hilarious and tried to convince my daughter (dressed as Belle) to marry him. LOL For a snack during the day we stopped at Gaston's Tavern and had a Cinnamon Bun. WOW! Amazing!!! It had maple cream something on top and it was enormous and was the best snack credit I ever spent. That night we had dinner at the Be Our Guest Restaurant. It was quite magical again. This time we were in the West wing which wasn't as nice as the ballroom and it was also freezing in there for some reason (and I'm Canadian so...) I had the thyme pork and it was incredible. I would definitely get it again. I enjoyed it a lot more then the Cornish hen I had last time. My husband enjoyed his meal a lot more this time and he has the puffed pastry seafood thing (last time he had the steak and wasn't all that impressed). For dessert I knew to have the strawberry cupcake this time. Sooooooo yummy! (even better then the chocolate cupcake, and that says a lot coming from a chocoholic). After dinner I got a picture of my son dressed as the Beast with the Beast and my daughter dressed as Belle with him. After dinner we had to be escorted out of the park since it was a night of the Christmas party and we didn't have tickets for that and it was past 7pm by the time we left. It was funny having to walk behind the CM holding up the big snowman sign thing as we were escorted out. Either way this could not have been any better and was so magical for all of us.

Nov 15 - Our last day at Magic Kingdom. We got up nice and early and were at the park before opening for the opening show. We were front and center. We were able to do a couple of rides before heading to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We ended up sitting in the exact same table as last time with a perfect view of the castle. The breakfast was super yummy as usual and was for sure our favourite breakfast of the whole trip. I especially love the waffles with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. The characters didn't seem to hang out with us as long as they did the first trip but that might be b/c we didn't have first trip buttons on this time??? Either way it was fine since we had more time to eat that way. :thumbsup2 We used our fastpasses that day for Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain and the jingle jungle cruise (which I thought was quite lame). I finally got a dole whip to try and I must say I was VERY disappointed. I actually thought it was disgusting, as did my husband and we ended up throwing most of it out. We left the park by 2pm that day and headed back to enjoy another swim at the resort. That night my MIL, SIL and I went to Downtown Disney. It was my first time having a QS supper at Earl of Sandwich and man was it every delicious. Worth the wait in line for sure. I have to take my husband there next time.

NOV 16 - We had to get up nice and early again and headed for our breakfast reservation at Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom. Our reservation was before park opening and it was nice to walk through the park without anyone there. The breakfast was good and basically had a lot of the same things as Chef Mickey's although I didn't enjoy the atmosphere that much here and the characters were moving even quicker here. We also felt very crowded and close to other tables and it was hard for the kids to get in and out of their seats and find a spot for the them and the characters to get a picture together. I don't think we would ever eat here again. Our last trip when we were at the AK we ate lunch at Rainforest Café and it was one of the kids favourite restaurants (and mine too). After breakfast it started to poor down rain. We got out the ponchos I had bought at the dollar store and they worked great. We went straight to the Safari after breakfast and despite the rain the safari was very good and the animals were still quite active. We used our fastpasses that day for the Nemo Musical, Expedition Everest and Dinosaur. We left the park and headed to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. After reading all of the amazing reviews of this restaurant I had high hopes that it would be good. Having to wait well over 1/2 an hour for our table put a sour taste in my mouth right off the bat. The one curry soup was very good, but other then that I was not impressed with the food at all. Being a dessert person I was super excited to try the zebra domes. They were okay but not very good at all in my opinion. They weren't worth the calories in my opinion. Getting back to our resort was a huge pain in the butt too, we had to wait over 1/2 an hour again for a bus to Downtown Disney and then from there had to wait for our bus to show up to head back to Pop Century. Boma was not worth the trouble at all and we will not be eating there every again.

Nov 17 - Another early morning start. This time we were going to Epcot for breakfast at Akershush before park opening again. We ended up being the first people into the park. My girls were dressed as Elsa and Anna from the new Frozen movie and my son had his Olaf t-shirt on. :) This was our second time having breakfast here and we did not enjoy it as much this time as last time. I didn't find the princesses as good this time again, maybe b/c of the lack of a first trip button again??? I'm not sure. The meal also wasn't the greatest this time and I found it quite cold when it was served even though we were one of the first tables seated (it must have been ready to go well before we arrived). After breakfast we headed to do turtle talk with Crush which we loved. Crush talked to our daughter and then also talked to us as part of the show. We found him quite funny. After the show we headed back to be one of the first in line to meet Elsa and Anna, unfortunately everyone else had the same idea and we still ended up waiting well over an hour in that line and there was no cover from the sun. I've heard that since the movie has come out that the lines are even worse now so am thankful that we were there before the movie released. I'm also happy we got an Elsa dress since I heard there are none left. Frozen is definitely my new favourite Disney movie, we even went to see it in theaters twice (I've never done that before). That day we did a Perry adventure, the one in Germany. It was pretty cute but ate up a good chunk of time. That day we used our fastpasses for Maelstrom, Soarin and Test Track. We were too tired to hang around to watch Illuminations so I have still yet to see this show. That night we walked from Pop Century to the Art of Animation resort to show our MIL and SIL where we stayed last time and for my husband to eat a Surf and Surf burger thing from the foodcourt there and for him to get his favourite pumpkin dessert thing from there too.

Nov 18 - Hollywood studios day. We started off our day doing Disney Junior Live on Stage, since that attraction was closed for refurbishment the last time we were there. The kids seemed to enjoy it but I wouldn't do it ever again. You had to sit on the floor which is bad enough but what was worse was you were cramped in there with a ton of other people and I ended up with knees and feet in my back, butt and everywhere else. Not very nice at all. Not sure why they have it set up this way but that definitely needs improvement. During the day I got my sons picture taken with Woody and Buzz while he was dressed like Woody and also took him to meet Mr. Incredible and Frozone while he was dressed as Dash. They loved him there and made a big deal of him in his costume. We had to wait over an hour in line to meet Sofia since the girls really wanted to meet her. We ate another incredible lunch at Hollywood and Vine (we loved it last trip too). I really don't understand the horrible reviews this place has. We think it's wonderful. We also tried the Carrot cake cookie sandwich thing form the writer's workshop that you hear so much about and it was really quite yummy. We used our fastpasses that day for Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollercoaster. We all watched Fantasmic that night and really after watching it twice now I don't think we'll ever fight through that crowd ever again. While walking into the show we had a lady cut us off and actually try and push our stroller out of the way and said "hey, I'm walking here". We are always quite aware of other people and are not aggressive at all so were quite upset. People can be so rude in the happiest place on earth. After the show we went to check out the Osbourne Spectable of Dancing Lights, they were very nice, but again it was quite crowded and kinda hard to enjoy while you are being pushed around. That night when we got back we went for a nice evening swim in the pool again.

Nov 19 - We had to catch the magical express at noon that day so in the morning I headed to Downtown Disney by myself and used up the rest of our snack credits at Goofy's candy company. I got a ton of the chocolate dipped rice crispy things shaped like Mickey's head covered in mini m&ms. We LOVE those! I was upset b/c I sat at the bus stop for Pop Century for over half an hour, then someone who worked there (who has seen me sitting there the whole time) finally came over and said "are you waiting for the bus?" I was like, yes (thinking duh! what do you think I'm doing), then he told me that the bus for Pop Century doesn't start running until 11am. I was so confused b/c I had taken the bus from there to DTD so why wasn't there one running back? I was in a bit of a panic thinking I was going to be late getting back to the resort, but luckily the bus for AOA was running and I could take it back and then walk to Pop Century from there. The kids had already been for a swim. We all went for a nice last QS breakfast at the foodcourt which was quite good. We finished packing and checked out of our room and went to the arcade to play until it was time to catch the bus.

All in all we had an amazing trip. The girls were a little sad to not be able to go to the BBB this time as I couldn't get a reservation for there at the last minute. One other thing that really bothered me about this trip was the number of rude and self centered people that were in the parks. Here comes a bit of a rant, I am sorry. I am not normally a complainer but I'm just wondering if I'm the only one that finds this. It seems like no one has respect for anyone anymore. On the buses everyone in my family was quick to give up our seats all of the time for elderly people or to people with small children, when I had my sleeping 5 year old with me one night I had to stand and no one offered me a seat, even though there were a ton of young healthy people that could have quite easily stood. My back hurt for a good 2 days before it was back to normal. Also, why can't people move to the back of the bus like you are supposed to? It seems like everyone is so fat and lazy in the parks. They step on the bus first and sit closest to the door with their strollers in the way for everyone else trying to get on the bus. My husband or I would always be carrying our stroller and we ALWAYS went as far back on the bus as we could (like you are supposed to)to be out of the way for everyone else getting on the bus. I think we sat at the back of the bus the entire trip because no one would go back there. I don't find this a difficult concept and it was something that really annoyed me. Strollers are not that heavy people. Think of others and get out of the way so they aren't tripping on you or your stroller. Okay, end rant. Just wanted to say that. Am I the only one that feels this way? Again, besides all of that we really enjoyed our trip and feel very blessed to have been able to go twice in one year. We are saving for our next trip already.

Sounds like a great trip! I got me excited for our trip coming up next week. Thanks for sharing.pirate:
