Concierge Check-In - Do you have to go right to Lounge?

From what I understand, Concierge guests are escorted direct to the concierge lounge to meet with the hosts and go over itineraries. Is it necessary that we do that first? Since we should be one of the first families on the ship, I thought it might be nice to take the kids swimming right away and do the concierge thing later when the ship begins to fill up. Any former concierge guests' thoughts on this? Or what you've done?
Thanks!!

They certainly aren't going to lock you in the lounge. However, it's not a bad idea to swing by and see if your rooms are ready that way you can drop your stuff. You might even grab a drink to enjoy while you swim. There is certainly no reason you cannot do the meeting stuff later though.

We stopped by the room first and dropped off some of our stuff and relaxed a bit and then we went to the lounge and introduced ourselves to our host.

So my $.02 - go to the lounge, grab some food/meet the hosts, find out what time the Open House(s) is for the kids club and go from there. This way you can plan time to be fed, get wet, get dry, and be ready for sail away.

Get there too late and there's a chance the lounge will be full and they'll turn you away. It's happened to us before. We try and get there first thing, get everything taken care of, drop our bags off and go do whatever. We're usually ready by 12:30 to be out and about.

Also when you get on the ship, the pools still are not open...each time we have gone to the pool areas first, we haven't been able to avail of being there so early. so now we just go to the lounge...that way you will also be able to go to your cabin before going out to the pool area.

We weren't escorted at all, so we kind of explored the ship and then made it to the lounge. We just got a drink and some snacks. The hosts were all busy with other guests, so we made sure our rooms were ready (which they were) so we went to our rooms. We stopped back by the lounge later that evening to introduce ourselves and talk with the hosts.

huh, did not realize this was an activity to address on day 1 as concierge, thanks for this question OP!

I am wondering if concierge rooms are available early? There is a hint in these earlier posts that might be so.. Prior to the normal 1:30 as for all?

My rooms have always been ready by the time we go through the concierge lounge snacks/meet and greet but of course YMMV.

I've gotten onboard so early the lounge wasn't even opened, so I went to Cabanas. You should stop by, to don't need to go straight away.

I have found that to be the case also. We are first on, grab snack, get a mimosa ( or 2 ) and make sure all our requests are on file. The room is ready!

If we sailed concierge again, we would go up, see how busy it is and either get lunch or check in. First time we had to sit and wait a while because everyone went right up there, kind of a pain. The second time we were in and out quickly because we were one of the first families in the lounge.

We have only sailed Concierge once, but we got on the ship pretty early and it does not take that long to go over things.

Plus, your room is usually ready. Which is great. Plus, like someone else said the pools are not open right away.

Enjoy your cruise. We loved Concierge...loved all the food and cocktails!!!

We normally go right in to the lounge just to confirm all our our plans and reservations. We dont mind waiting a bit and having a drink until the hosts get to us.

We went straight to the lounge after boarding first with the rest of the concierge guests. There were probably three families in there. We sat down, had a drink, and our host came over after a few minutes to go over everything. We went to our room after and dropped off our bags then went to cabanas for lunch. We were eating at around 1230. The best part of the lounge was a youth club counselor came in and set up my boys with their magic bands. The line was very long in the terminal and slow moving. I didn't want to wait because I wanted to be in the concierge waiting area with the rest of my family because I knew we would be boarding soon. I was fully prepared to go to the clubs later that afternoon but the counselor walked right in and set us up. It was a nice touch.

The pools don't open until 12pm so you should be able to go to the lounge first and still be at the pool when it opens.
