Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

Oh no, I'm way behind! But if this TR is going backwards does that mean I'm actually ahead? Looking forward to reading more!

Hopefully your back gets better as the trip continues. It is amazing the distance you travelled. If I had known you were heading through Michigan I would have given you some great spots to stop at in the Upper Peninsula. It really is breathtaking.

Maybe tthe robe guy was on his waytoWalmart! Apparently sleepwear is encouraged there. :rotfl2:

:lmao:
I should've asked him!

I'm glad you could at least get your socks on the next day,.

It's one of my great
accomplishments of the
whole trip.

Betcha can't wait
to see the rest of
this TR now! :lmao:

I looked at your map. I lived in Baudette as a little girl. I thought it was closer to Duluth than it is.

Nope. Four hours away.

Heard alot about Duluth as a kid, with alot of my family living in MN. I don't know why. :confused3

I don't know why
you'd live in MN either.

:duck:

Nice DISmeets. So much fun you could get those in.

More to come! :)

Yay for May 3rd! Our group is headed back to Hawaii that day. May 4th is Mason 's birthday so a great celebration for himparty:

Hey! That's great!
That'll be wonderful! :)

Hopefully your back gets better as the trip continues.

It did get better,
although I did have
a few minor setbacks
(no pun intended)
now and then.

It is amazing the distance you travelled.

I'm not sure if that was
my longest drive on that trip.

But it may have been.

If I had known you were heading through Michigan I would have given you some great spots to stop at in the Upper Peninsula. It really is breathtaking.

Oh! I'd love to take you up on that.
I'd love to do the drive again
at a (far) more leisurely pace.

This time, there was a time
constraint, so I was basically
"Go! Go! Go!... stop for poker chip...
Go! Go! Go!"

Psh. I drive in flip flops all the time. And occasionally while changing from work shoes to flip flops.

Would you go out in public
like that?

So, again, I'm just guessing at what his robe looks like. But I will say that the only time I've wandered out of my hotel room in a robe was at a B&B that only had like 8 rooms, and the robe literally covered me from neck to ankles.

The Michigan Upper Peninsula
is beautiful.

I've heard that. Joe has family in Hancock, and we talk about going to visit. Except 1. I hate the cold and 2. We're not huge fans of that part of the family.

Future bike trip, for sure.

Hmmm......now that we could get onboard with. Except we'd have to trailer the bike. I am NOT going from NC to the UP on a sport bike.

Well... twist my arm...
Peanut butter and chocolate chip, please.

Always an excellent choice ::yes::

Jenn was kind enough to drive
thirty minutes north to meet me.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Nope!

Psh. I drive in flip flops all the time. And occasionally while changing from work shoes to flip flops.

"And I've hardly had any accidents!
Why just this year, I'm down to six
and only two of those did we
have to buy a new car.
And except for that one guy,
who shouldn't have been walking
on the sidewalk anyways, practically
no one was hurt! Much."

So, again, I'm just guessing at what his robe looks like. But I will say that the only time I've wandered out of my hotel room in a robe was at a B&B that only had like 8 rooms, and the robe literally covered me from neck to ankles.

Hmmmm...
I think that counts as acceptable.

I've heard that. Joe has family in Hancock, and we talk about going to visit. Except 1. I hate the cold and 2. We're not huge fans of that part of the family.

I'm betting #2 is the main reason.

Because who wants that
when you're in the middle
of nowhere?

Hmmm......now that we could get onboard with. Except we'd have to trailer the bike. I am NOT going from NC to the UP on a sport bike.

No you're not!
Even I am having
a hard time thinking
of that on a cruiser.

Always an excellent choice ::yes::

Yum!

:sad2: I suppose not.

:sad2: I suppose not.

The good news you're really good at painting pictures with words. And eventually I will go back and look either on my phone or laptop and see the pictures.

Also, I think you may have missed my first reply to this TR. Or I missed your response to it.

I called up and made an
appointment for a massage.

Good for you!

It hurt like the Dickens, but...
after a minute or so, the pain eased off.

No pain, no gain! Just kidding, yes massage can be painful at times

While I just about died from the massage,
I think in the long run it did me some good.
I do know that by the next day,
I was feeling much better.

That’s awesome! Sometimes it takes a couple of days to feel better.

But "masseuse" is quicker to type
than Massage Practitioner.

We usually prefer “massage therapist” :)
Masseuse gives me visions of large Woman named Helga

Tentatively planning on WDW
with Elle first week of May

That’s awesome! I’ll be traveling at the same time with my son, Dray and my Daughter, Devin for her 21st birthday. You let them last year at MVMCP.

Still haven't quite gotten
the hang of selfies.
Sorry about that.

I think you look great!

Except today I just felt like
having some fruit.
And of course there wasn't any.

What!? No fruit! How dare they.

Am I a prude for feeling
that the gentleman in
the robe may have been
a touch under-dressed?

No

Would you go out in public
like that?

And no

Safety tip:
If you see one deer,
there will be another.

Yep. We see deer all the time here, rarely ever just one

If you're keeping track,
that was a fourteen and a half hour day.

Wow that’s a long drive

Did you see it in this chapter?

Dang I missed it, have to go back and look with fresh eyes later

My phone politely chirped
at the preset time of five a.m.
Hmmm.... perhaps "chirped"
isn't quite the right term here...

Blared.

Blared is a good word.
So you can decide for yourselves
how I felt about getting up at
five o'clock in the morning,
I would say just fine! It may not be Disney, but it is still not work! Well, at least until you try to move!

my back immediately
put in a request that I switch
from rock n roll to doing the shuffle.

At least it wasn't a crawl. Look at the bright side?

But then I had to put my socks on.

Yeah, at least you have the excuse of your back being out...I don't have that excuse!

I looked at my other sock,
it looked back at me.

Um...I'm concerned here!

Would you go out in public
like that?

Truth be told, I do go out in PJ pants and T-shirts when I have to just run for something that I need for dinner or something quickly. However, I would not just go in a robe. It would be my luck, I would step outside and a huge COLD draft would fly up from underneath! BRRRRRR

So... it looks like
she was right.

Of course... SHE is always right.

There was no one on the road,
so I stopped just long enough
for one quick snap.

Fall is my favo(u)rite season. Love this scene.

Safety tip:
If you see one deer,
there will be another.

This is so very true. My dad drilled this into my head as a teenager. I have never seen just 1 deer!

I bought some caramel corn
for the drive.
Maybe not today, but tomorrow.

Uh, yum. Now I want Karamell-Küche

So... choices were a tad limited.

I told you!

(That about right, Jenn?)
Yup, but compared to your drive, it was just a hop, skip, and a jump.

Thanks again, Jenn.
That was very thoughtful. :)
You are welcome! It was a pleasure seeing the surprise on your face!

She suggested sausage, ham & bacon.
(I think that's right? Jenn? Sound right?)
Almost. It was actually sausage, bacon, and meatball.

(which turned out to be
surprisingly good!)

I thought it was very good. I have actually told my husband we need to go there!

Jenn? It was really nice meeting you! :goodvibes

It was super nice meeting you too. Not to shabby for my first ever Dis meet.

Did you see it in this chapter?

I did!

Yay Fallon and Luke She posted about your M&G on FB. I'm hoping to meet them the first weekend in May at Epic Dis meet. You should really try to make it to Disney many of our fellow dissers will be there. I know Su-Lynne @chunkymonkey would love to meet ya. Mark will be there and several husbands.
Too many people for Elle anyway.

I saw Fallon's post on FB as well. Can't wait to meet them myself.
You should definitely try to make it to a meet up Ponzy! Maybe we could bribe Elle into going to O'hana. I could make her something super cool and entice her to deal with the group of crazy ladies and a few of their husbands!
I know you said she is a vegetarian, but from my understanding O'hana has an excellent Vegan option. Check this out: https://www.moderntravelprofessionals.com/single-post/2016/08/12/Vegetarian-Eating-at-Ohana

Nervously hopeful that the weird guy you met online isn't a mass murder.

HAHAHAHAHA! That's what my daughter said when I told her where I was going!

Jenn... i see your festive shirt. We would be friends!
LOL I forgot I had that scrub on. I had an exam that day and on exam days, I ALWAYS wear a holiday scrub as it helps me feel more confident! Something to keep my spirits up. I am obsessed with 2 things... Disney and Christmas.
I am sure we would be friends!

Hello Su-Lynn! Can't wait to meet in May!

And I'm sure she'd have said yes. I mean... you provide caramel corn for road trips!

caramel corn... Hubby....caramel corn...Hubby....caramel corn.... Good thing your married already!

Looks like she listened.

Yes. I did.

So it was YOU!!! @Chrystmasangel , now I can blame him for my snoring bothering you!

Yes, it was. I was telling him that I was thinking about asking but had seen your post about @Malia78 rooming with you and didn't want to impose, but he encouraged me to still send a message. Glad I listened! Your snoring won't bother me, see below!

What were we talking about again?

I have short term memory loss.

This is why your snoring won't bother me... by the time morning rolls around, i will have forgotten that you snored. :)

The good news you're really good at painting pictures with words. And eventually I will go back and look either on my phone or laptop and see the pictures.

Wait... if I'm that good...
then why do you have
to look at all?

Also, I think you may have missed my first reply to this TR. Or I missed your response to it.

:(

I don't know how that happened.
I know I read your response...

Gee, I'm really sorry Annie.
I'll do that right now.

So. I actually read this last week.

Me too!

 :sad2:

But it was on my work computer, and so, per usual, I get a little black box with an x rather than a photo. So I told myself I'd reply when I got home and could pull it up on my laptop.

Yeah.

Why?
I've been told by a semi-reliable source,
that I'm really good at painting
pictures with words.

Here I am week later and still haven't pulled it up at home, so I'm going to reply and just pretend what I think the photos are.

Sure! Because I'm...
really good at painting pictures with words.

For some reason I first read this as "Fairly hairless" :scared1:

Well, I did post that photo of me, so...

Whaaaat? I can't imagine there's anyone reading this TR for the sole purpose of reading about you meeting them.....

Nah. I'm sure no one
is doing that.

When did you get a picture with Joe in the background?

Earlier this fall, I believe.

Isn't that the way it always goes?

Or in my case, I bought tickets for a concert in Atlanta, saw said concert, and then the next month the band announced they were breaking up.

Oh my gosh!
What did you do to that poor band!!!!

Yes! Excellent choice. I always pick those up for a road trip.

Of course you did!

Now I want to know what you
thought the photo was?

Oh, ok. Maybe not then.

I tend to unscrew my cap first before anything else. And then because every car I've owned prior has had a broken clip, I let it fall and hang by it's cord. Joe yells at me every time and says I'm going to scratch the paint. I tell him it's my car and if I don't care then it doesn't matter. Then I pump my gas, finish, put the nozzle back, tell it no receipt, then screw the cap back on and close the door.

Yeah! It's your car and you'll scratch if you want to.
scratch if you want to.
scratch if you want to...

And then get into my car and check my mirror to make sure I've put the cap back on.

Probably not a bad habit!

Also maybe why he didn't ask if you were constipated.

This has been noted by my
regular readers. :goodvibes

Next TR title?

I could do worse!

No... really...
I could do worse.

Good for you!

I didn't think so at the time!

No pain, no gain! Just kidding, yes massage can be painful at times

I think that was a bit more
than just "painful".

Debilitating.
There's a good word.

That’s awesome! Sometimes it takes a couple of days to feel better.

Must admit, I did feel better
after a couple days.
Not sure if the massage helped
or not.
I think it did... but not positive.

We usually prefer “massage therapist” :)

Ugh! That's the word I was looking for!
I knew "practitioner" wasn't what I wanted,
but I was having a brain fart at the time.

Masseuse gives me visions of large Woman named Helga

This dude would fit part of
that description!

That’s awesome! I’ll be traveling at the same time with my son, Dray and my Daughter, Devin for her 21st birthday. You let them last year at MVMCP.

::yes:: I remember. :)

I think you look great!

Awww... shucks.

What!? No fruit! How dare they.

Jerk move, Country Inn & Suites!

Seems to be unanimous.

As is that.

Yep. We see deer all the time here, rarely ever just one

Yup.
Even that deer photo I posted
had another just off camera.

Wow that’s a long drive

It was... just a tad long.

Dang I missed it, have to go back and look with fresh eyes later

Okay! :)

I would say just fine! It may not be Disney, but it is still not work! Well, at least until you try to move!

I'd say you were right, too.
Unless it's too many early
mornings in a row.
Then it starts to feel like work.

At least it wasn't a crawl. Look at the bright side?

This is truer than you think.
One of my least favourite memories
happened not long ago.
I was taking Kay to school and
we decided we'd take the dogs
along for the drive.
I bent over to pick up the smaller pup...
And the next thing I knew, I was face
down on the concrete floor of the garage.
Poor Kay was so scared and was shouting
over and over. "Should I call 911? Should I call 911?"

:sad1:

I still feel badly about frightening her like that.

I told her I was fine, just my back, go ask
your sister for a ride.

I then proceeded to crawl up the steps,
into the house (opening the door
was no picnic) and eventually
managed to get into bed,
where I stayed for the next few days.

Yeah, at least you have the excuse of your back being out...I don't have that excuse!

But you do have very valid excuses.

Um...I'm concerned here!

Why?
Because your socks don't talk to you?

Tragic.

Truth be told, I do go out in PJ pants and T-shirts when I have to just run for something that I need for dinner or something quickly.

That's just the fashion these days.
All you're doing is proving that you're hip.

However, I would not just go in a robe. It would be my luck, I would step outside and a huge COLD draft would fly up from underneath! BRRRRRR

Yay!!!!!

Er... I mean...

Yes, that would be terrible.

Of course... SHE is always right.

Hold onto that thought until
after the next update.

Fall is my favo(u)rite season. Love this scene.

Isn't it gorgeo(u)s?

This is so very true. My dad drilled this into my head as a teenager. I have never seen just 1 deer!

::yes:: Listen to Dad.

Uh, yum. Now I want Karamell-Küche

Who doesn't!?!?

I told you!

::yes::
Yup. You did.
But the pizza was good!
And you didn't have to drive
hours and hours. :)

Yup, but compared to your drive, it was just a hop, skip, and a jump.

You must have a very interesting car.

You are welcome! It was a pleasure seeing the surprise on your face!

I was really surprised and touched
by the gesture!

Almost. It was actually sausage, bacon, and meatball.

Right!!! I changed it in the TR.
Thanks! :goodvibes

I thought it was very good. I have actually told my husband we need to go there!

It was good, wasn't it?
I was surprised... and happy about that!

It was super nice meeting you too. Not to shabby for my first ever Dis meet.

That was your first?
Wow! You were like
a pro at it!
Put me completely at ease. :)

;)

I saw Fallon's post on FB as well. Can't wait to meet them myself.

You'll like them.
They're really nice!

<sigh>
If I was alone...

But, considering she hasn't been since 2009.
we'll be spending as much time as possible
in the parks.
I don't think we'll have time for it,
even if she didn't mind all the strangers.

HAHAHAHAHA! That's what my daughter said when I told her where I was going!

Good thing I left all my serial killer
stuff in the car.

caramel corn... Hubby....caramel corn...Hubby....caramel corn.... Good thing your married already!

Yes. I did.

:goodvibes

This is why your snoring won't bother me... by the time morning rolls around, i will have forgotten that you snored. :)

convenient!

my back immediately
put in a request that I switch
from rock n roll to doing the shuffle.

Yikes! Maybe one of these in your future? :rotfl:

Nope, definitely would not do that.

Beautiful! That's one thing I miss now living in the south. Our leaves down here mostly just turn brown before falling.

You always know that you
share at least one thing
that you can talk about.
Yup.
The weather.
Oh, and probably Disney, too.

I'm always nervous before a DIS meet but never have had a problem with conversation once I get there.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yep, your airline has offices everywhere! I will admit I spent way too much time looking at all the maps thinking there may be a pkondzville in there somewhere. :rotfl2:
