Can a Disney room booking be moved for a fee or is it cancelled?

Hi

Got a room booked for 2 nights in April 2016, paid a deposit. Would like to move it to another date later in the year. Has anyone done this or does Disney cancel and lose the deposit paid?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

We have changed dates with a room only. They just move your dates. If you are moving to a more 'expensive' resort then you have to pay the difference.

We are booked for the Grand Floridian room only, but have now got DVC points for Villas at GF instead. So will be moving the booking to later in the year to a lower priced room probably to the Yacht Club.

DVC I know nothing about - that board may be more helpful. A true, for real money, room reservation may be moved around and as the pp said, you would just need to pay the difference for the deposit. But I suspect DVC throws a nice little wrench in there.

Assuming you're booking through the normal Disney booking methods, there shouldn't be a problem. Do you have your original booking reservation email? It should lay out the change/cancellation info for you. Or just call Disney.
