Cabins are great

I just got back from staying at the cabins, and what a great experience. When we first got there, Bonnie upgraded us to a cabin from a home, and let us go to the cabin at 8am, way before check-in time. The house keeping was excellent, and the bus system was great. it never took us more than 20 minutes to get to any park. I would reccommend Fort Wilderness to anybody.

Are there any Homes left. I thought they were all being upgraded to Cabins. Last 2 loops that were left were 2700 and 2800.

I am so glad to hear that you had a good time. We
will be going before too long. I am just curious, which cabin did you stay in?? What loop were you in? How was the bus system? Did it take long to get where you wanted to go? We will not have a car and will really be at the mercy of the WDW transportation system. Any info. would be greatly
appreciated!! <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

disneynovice,
I will try to answer your questions. We stayed in a cabin in Nov 2000. We were in loop 2600 cabin # 2604. The cabin location was great for us, we were near the front of the loop, the bus stop was very close, the quiet pool and laundry was just across the road. We had a golf cart and used it to go to the trading posts, Trail's End, and the marina, you could also use an internal bus. This was the first time we stayed at FW so I don't have any other cabin location experiences to compare to.
We used the bus transportation to get to all the parks. For EE at MK we took the bus to the TTC and then got on the monorail and got there in plenty of time. The other times we went to MK we used the boat. For Epcot we took the bus to TTC and got on the monorail. For MGM we took bus to TTC and transfered to another bus. For AK we got a direct bus from the bus stop near Pioneer Hall.
We did EE at all parks and got there in time. FW transportation gets a lot of negative comments which is unfortunate. There were 3 adults in our party and all of us thought the transportation was just fine.
Have a great trip!

Thanks so much for the info. I am new at this and after looking at these discussion forums, I feel overwhelmed with how little I know. We are also not used to going on vacations where we do not have a car to use, so I am a little nervous about that.

Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. Everyone has been so nice and helpful.

:)
