I'm sure that it is still empty, go while you can because my guess is that it will be closing.

We went twice a couple weeks ago (before it was open to everyone) and it was very peaceful. Quite a few people came up at fireworks time and stood outside, but the lounge itself was not crowded. I hope that it doesn't close: we loved it.

Why would you think they would close it. I worry more that they take it over for private parties and dvc people are not able to use it at all

I meant close it to DVC Owners.

Ok yes that would be terrible and hope it doesn;t happen. We where up there last week and the lounge was full and they had lots of folks watching the fireworks. It might help if they replaced couches with chairs and tables but I don;t ever know if it will ever be something that can support itself

Thanks, I hope to get up this week to check it out while it is open to all DVC owners. We have no plans to ever stay at the Contemporay - too many points so I want to take advantage of it!

when you get back - be sure to post and tell if it was crowded or not. and how you liked it or not.

We went over to TOWL last evening (we were staying at VWL). Arrived at 9PM, checked in at the 1st floor desk, was asked where we were staying, eyeballed our resort key and then escorted us to the elevator. Entire process took only a minute ! Limited seating available but we were able to grab a table and enjoy a cocktail prior to the fireworks. Only 1 bartender and server working and Boy, were they running and working !!!! Many folks came in to get drinks and enjoyed them outside (due to limited indoor seating). It was a beautiful night and the fireworks were amazing--plenty of room for all to view outside (although--some folks did stay indoors for the viewing). :thumbsup2

Doesn't seem right that before they allowed other DVC folks access they had a bartender and sometimes 3 servers. Now they schedule only 1 server with the added attendance?

Is this a mistake?

Do they want the sales to suffer?

Have they already decided to close the lounge in September?

Will the increased attendance sustain the necessary sales to keep TOWL open?

Will increased attendance subside as time goes on?

I had the opportunity to go up tonight, sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. Had no problem getting up there once I got in the building..but getting in the building was a hassle, they need to address this...

One bartender and one server, they handled the buisness very well till about 9:30, then they got slammed! I asked the bartender if they planned on bringing in more help and he said its not really worth it for a half hour "fireworks crunch". He advised getting there around 8:45 if you want a good seat and time to get a drink and something to eat....

All great questions, Bill. Makes you suspiciously wonder. I guess time will tell. For folks visiting TOWL, please keep posting updates about the staffing and attendance situation.
