I have been (not so) patiently waiting. There don’t seem to be many “leaks” yet. For me the big ones will be Target, Walmart, Best Buy. I’m looking to upgrade my kids iPads for their birthday (Nov. 30th) and tossing around the idea of a PS4 for Christmas.

As I posted in the Christmas shopping thread, I'll get back to you on December 15th when I START my shopping. Amazon Prime, it will be at my house early enough for me to have everything under the tree a week before Christmas. And, the final 10 days are when the REAL bargains are there.

I wish you luck. Deliveries have been an absolute MESS from all sources. Hopefully it’ll be straightened out for the holiday season but I’m sure not counting on it. As far as the final 10 days, that has never been my experience. The best deals usually come leading up to Black Friday. The retailers are trying to beat each other before the sales are supposed to happen. Then again, I suppose it depends on what you’re after. Most of us with younger kids can’t afford to wait it out and hope for the best.

Just be careful, many of the "Black Friday Bargains" are inferior products or versions made just to be sold cheaply for Black Friday.
I've got it easy so far, I think I can get the tree saw on my wife's list at Ace Hardware. Ah, the romantic gifts you get after 36 years of marriage.

I know I wish they would hurry up and leak the ads because I am trying to determine if with some of the current sales are things going to be just as cheap or cheaper if I buy now vs waiting until black friday. I don't go to the stores but I buy a ton on-line sitting in the comfort of my living room on Thanksgiving day.

I’m a hardcore experienced shopper, lol. I don’t buy products made for Black Friday, I shop for sales on products I’ve been waiting all year for. People get caught up in the words “sale” or “deal” and don’t know their prices. I know my prices.

I don't really do much shopping for Christmas on BF but I do end up grabbing things like throw blankets, household stuff, gloves and other "necessities" because you can find them pretty cheap.
All of my shopping is done on Wednesday or Thanksgiving from the comfort of my own home. I love that I don't even have to go out of the house to get the BF deals!

Most of my BF shopping is now done online, since I refuse to shop on Thanksgiving day. The ads have become pretty repetitive over the years IMO. The main things I'll be looking for are video games and sporting goods. Kohls and Target are the ads I'm impatiently waiting on.

Since we live in a 24 hour town and over the years most of us have/had to work on Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember we don’t typically have Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving Day. I might run out to Michael’s or something like that but the majority of my shopping is done online and often times done by Black Friday. When I have gone out Thanksgiving/Black Friday the last couple of years it’s crickets, clerks standing around twiddling their thumbs, people outside practically begging you to come in. Most of the sales are happening weeks before and online. It’s kinda sad, I miss the rush of Black Friday shopping.

I do most of shopping before BF in recent years most sales have been available before the actual day or at least anything I am interested in... It seems as above most of the amazing BF are products made of that day and the rest well I am just not leaving my house to get the crappy 5 dollar toasters that will last 5 days. The person above looking for IPAD's.. I am not sure if you are aware but IPAD has a NEW IPAD named such the retail is 329 but they have been on sale for 289 at a lot of places here and there I doubt they will be any lower for BF and if it is it will likely be an older model which will be slower then the new one. IPADs have become a thing of the past in recent years due to the size of the new phones.

More ads should be "leaked" (really they are mostly just released by the stores these days, not really leaked) in the next few weeks. It's still a bit early for the big ads to be out.

My plan is the same as always: Up early to hit Home Depot at their opening (usually 5am I think?) for $1 poinsettias (the price has been stable for years, hopefully they will be the same this year), then onto Kohl's to buy any clothing DD and I want to try on first and that I don't buy during their Veteran's Day sale. If it wasn't for the Home Depot run then I probably wouldn't bother going to Kohl's, but since I'm already up, why not? The store is typically empty at that time - the craziness happens earlier. I don't plan to hit any other stores for deals, which is normal for me. I figure if I can't get it online, then the supply in the store is probably so limited that I would need to fight the crowds to get it, and I just don't do crazy crowds. My gift shopping is pretty much done anyway - anything I buy on Black Friday is just "extra", or for me personally, and is probably stuff I shouldn't be buying anyway LOL

Later in the day we will go back to Home Depot, to get our tree. But I need the sun to be up to pick out a good one :santa:

ETA: Remembered the one thing I'm waiting for Black Friday to pick up. DD18 wants the "Crazy Rich Asians" dvd, which is due to be released right before Black Friday. So I'm hoping someone will have a deal on that online.

I'm looking forward to seeing the ads, see if it's worth my time to go out. These days, the sales start so early, that by my usual wake-up time of 5am, I can head out after the big crush. And I find that "filler" items from Walmart (fuzzy socks, jammies, etc.), they have so much, I can pick them up a couple days later, no problem.

One place I'll definitely hit is Jo-Ann Fabrics. Every year, my kids have come to expect homemade sleep pants, and they have flannel dirt cheap for BF. Added bonus, they start the sale a few days early, so I can stop by at my leisure on Tuesday or so, avoid the crowds.

Beyond that, I prefer to do my shopping online. Then I can wear MY homemade sleep pants!

There will be a sale + gift card deal at most places for the latest basic model. It’s how I’ve gotten almost all the ones that have been through this house. I keep up with Apple Tech and know the pattern of sales. My fallback is Apple Refurb but I’m 99% sure I’ll be able to score a better deal through Target/Walmart/Best Buy for the latest model (not talking the ones coming out tomorrow.) It just takes patience and knowing the prices of the current and past models.

I've had good luck with the Target Cartwheel daily toy deals and Amazon lightning deals. This is a good reminder to get my list finished though! I've actually got the list for my kids mostly firmed up, but I need to make sure I've got ideas for the in-laws.

It depends on what happens tomorrow. There are slight rumors there will be AirPods 2 and an Apple Pencil 2 but that’s a long shot. If it *does* happen, Apple’s trend is to make the previous generation a lower price. If it doesn’t (which is most likely) it’s hard to say. Unlike iPads, AirPods are hard to keep on the shelves and sell as fast as they can make them. They really have no incentive to put them on sale because people are buying them, kwim? There are TONS of fakes so look for sales at reputable places like Walmart, Target, Best Buy. They may offer gift cards or combo type deals. I doubt they’ll go down much. You can check the refurb page at Apple but it’s only going to be a small discount.

Thanks for the insight. I'm not expecting much of a sale, but some sort of gift card deal would be nice for sure!

You can buy the flannel on line for the exact same price and it is delivered in 2 days. With black friday, they usually have free shipping or pick up in the store for free. I did this last year and walked right in and picked up my material and what wasn't in the store was delivered Saturday morning. I was shocked. I don't mind shopping on line, since I use a website where I get cash back going thru their website: Sunshine Rewards.
