Bizarre Conspiracy Theories

On a related note, I've encountered quite a few people who have a wide array of conspiracy theories about the moon landing coverage being fake. The why's and how's vary.

Yea another of those conspiracy theories where THOUSANDS would have to be in on it and not a SINGLE one of them every went public to brag to friends/relatives/social media about their involvement. That by itself makes it seem implausible.

Myth Busters (the TV show) actually did a segment investigating the allegations of the Moon landing being faked. They were able to disprove every allegation using science/facts/rational information and thought their show was very well done.

I remember that episode! Their shows, as a whole, were just so well done and quite entertaining.

Always found this amusing:

“You’re the one who said you walked on the moon when you didn’t,” Bart Sibrel told Aldrin as he walked by his filming crew outside the Luxe Hotel. “Calling a kettle black …”

“Will you get away from me?” an irate Aldrin warned the man in the incident caught on video.

Sibrel responded, “You’re a coward and a liar and a … ”

Aldrin, then 72, socked Sibrel in the jaw, right when he finished the sentence with “thief.”

I watched the first moon landing at my grandparents house with lots of other relatives there.

A uncle or two joked that it was being filmed somewhere in the Nevada desert.

There was another NASA conspiracy about the whole 1970s Skylab project being an elaborate hoax.

I liked the 70s film Capricorn One about a faked space mission. OJ Simpson played one of the astro-nots.

Yeah and this one :(

"A conspiracy theory circulating on social media claims that a tragic historic event captured on live television — a U.S. space shuttle’s fiery disintegration — never happened. "

Seriously? Everyone knows the moon landing was completely and totally real.

What they don't know is that we quit going to the moon because the aliens that live in the hollow core told us to stop.

If you look too closely at the moon with a telescope, they will come to your bedroom late at night and disappear you.

👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽 (not an accurate representation, the moon aliens are blue)

I like to respond to the people that share stuff like that on social media and ask why would the government need to spend money microchipping us, they are holding a perfectly good tracking device in the palm of their hand. Probably shared that post using it.

DH struck up a conversation with a random couple while out shopping this weekend (he is a crazy magnet, they always seem to find him). Seemingly normal couple until they started ranting about how the hospitals murdered every patient that died from COVID as a way to thin the population of elderly people.

I remember when people were saying that Andy Kaufmann had faked his death. He's playing a long-game hoax and is just waiting for the perfect time to reveal himself and say, "Gotcha!"

I recently heard one that actually sounds pretty good.

Before taking the 3-hour trip on the S.S. Minnow, the Professor had invented a battery that never died. It was going to revolutionize the energy industry.

Of course, the people in the energy industry found out and went to the U.S. government to put a stop to it. Why, if this new battery came out, it would cripple the energy industry and put millions of people out of work!

So, the CIA enlisted one of their top agents, Willie Gilligan, to thwart the Professor's plans.

At the time, the Professor had only the one, working prototype. He couldn't risk leaving it behind, so he took it with him on the boat.

Remember, it was Gilligan who "sabotaged" the compass on the boat by removing the magnet.

The passengers wound up marooned on the island, but they were determined to leave. So, many plans were made to return to civilization. They even tried to repair the hole in the boat.

However, Gilligan was determined to keep the Professor away from civilization at all costs. So, feigning being a bumbling goof, Gilligan repeated foiled every plan to leave the island.

When you think of this and rewatch the show, it's really interesting!
