Big River Grill is supposedly closing

Tried it once. Absolutely the worst table service meal we've ever had on property. Seriously mediocre, and the service experience wasn't great. The beer was fine. Hopefully what replaces it will be better.

Same. I have never eaten anywhere else at Disney that was as lame.

We went the last day and was told by staff there that Big River made bank. Rent is expensive there but they made a LOT. They are thinking Disney shut it down to take over the spot. … Who is the owner of the cake shop, Disney or private?

If the restaurant turned a profit then they must have come up on the lease or Disney paid them to break it or had an option to terminate it. Since Disney has rented the place out (they probably got not only rent but also percentage rent) and the cake shop spot is being occupied by a new tenant (Disney doesn’t own that concept, there are a couple of these places elsewhere in the US) it’s a decent bet Disney didn’t clear BRG out for themselves but for a better tenant.

I don’t think Disney closed BRG. The parent company is having financial issues and closed it at short notice. I think Disney was surprised by it. Hopefully they’ll fill the space with another casual restaurant that’s easy to walk into.

Have a reservation there in a week and a half. Would have been nice if they had let us know.

Sad to see it close. Never a great restaurant, but a good option on the Boardwalk. Always had good beer. Always got a good burger there. A good location for the next restaurant.
