Best way to do Hagrid

USF opens at 8 tomorrow and IOA opens at 9. Is it a bad strategy to start at Diagon Alley and take the train to Hogsmeade to do Hagrid first when it opens? About how long would that line be? And how long has Single Rider been recently? We’d like to do Hagrid as many times as possible with our limited park time.

You will be well back in the line if you try to take the train over. The best way to do this is to line up outside of IoA no later than 8AM and just wait. We did this yesterday and our line was already up to the train station when the first group of people came off. They looked extremely disappointed once they realized that strategy was not a good one.

It did seem that single rider was moving pretty quickly when we were there. The thing is you have to wait in line for quite awhile before you even get to the single rider break off point so I still think taking the train and then doing single rider would be slower than just lining up outside of IoA.

As @glamdring269 said you'll be in the back of the line if you take the train. The only way you'd be able to beat guest at the IoA gate is if they had HE leave prior to when the gates of IoA open which they never do. Not only that, but HE sometimes can even be delayed when the parks open.

Also, SR is more closed than open. While it's been told waits are shorter if SR is open when guests are able to use it, they often have it closed for crowd control reasons. Once a line is filled to a certain capacity they close it. That's how all of SR lines are. However, it's occurs the most at Hagrid's now since so many people want to take advantage of the "lower" wait time. If more people join the line, then it can even be as long, or longer of a wait depending how many people are in the line.
