We are sailing to Nassau on DCL just before Christmas and we have all wanted to see Atlantis. Do we have to book a tour, or can we just take a taxi and wonder through the resort? Thank you :)

You can take a land or water taxi $4 pp each way, I think. You can wander around the casino and shopping areas and lobby for free, but a good chunk is blocked off. We bought an Aquarium pass when we got there for $38 per adult (DD was 1.5 and free). That gave us access to the aquariums and a good amount of the outdoor areas. The pass is available in the Casino info desk. If it is busy enough they reserve the right to limit the number of passes they will sell in a day.

I think it was worth the money and time we spent there. I too wanted to check out what it was like. Reminded me of some of the larger Vegas casino resorts.

You can rent a room (or rooms depending on how many are in your party) at the Comfort Suites (which is accross the road from Atlantis). Included in the room rate is all access to Atlantis including the water park area. You would need to take a taxi to the hotel, check in (even though you are not spending the night) and walk accross to the Atlantis. This is much less expensive than the Disney excursion and you get to use all the Atlantis facilities.

Does anyone know how much the day pass is for the water park if you buy it directly from Atlantis? Adults and kids prices? Thanks!

I was just in Nassau and want to say it was $11 from the port to Atlantis. I think the day pass to Atlantis was $110 a person but like other say the comfort suits deal is great I think they give 4 passes for a 1 night stay

So you "check in," get your passes, go to Atlantis, and go on with your day? No worries about checking out?

I have heard people say they have done it both ways- some use the room only to change and freshen up after the water adventures and some never go to the room. You could probably tell them at check in you won't be checking out. Have a great time ...Atlantis is gorgeous!

Do your homework and make sure the CS is a good deal! I priced it for my family if 4 (my sons are 16 & 15) and it was not that big a savings when you took into consideration that the excursion for the Aquaventure thru the ship provides transport and lunch. Just a burger, no drink or fries, runs about $10-$12. Also, be sure to read the fine print below the total estimate on CS website because their estimated total does NOT include the fine print fees. They will expect to collect those fees when you check-in. The fee amount for my family was some crazy high amount which when comparing everything didn't make the CS route much of a value at all. Just be careful! I know if I'd gone with CS & had them ask for those fees upon arrival I would e pitched a full-on fit.

Also, if for some reason your itinerary changes (which happens sometimes) you'll need to know what the cancellation policy is for your CS booking. You'll likely be outta luck on whatever you already paid them if the ship doesn't port. ;)

Good point! I also read the fine print, and it came out to an additional $24 per person for my family of 4, so the price jumped $100 from the room rate, and that was BEFORE room tax. Factor in food, and taxi, and you really aren't saving. I consider the extra money a sort of "insurance" since I have missed a port every time I've sailed so far.... I'm not willing to lose my money if we can't port, and at least Disney will refund me if that happens. : )

We booked the comfort suites and the night before ordered room service sandwiches wrapped to go so we could pack in bags and didn't need to buy food at Atlantis. Don't forget to also order some of those good cookies. I don't remember what we ending up saving but I know it was a big difference for our other friends that booked with DCL. You can call comfort suites and ask them any questions people do it all the time!

it depends on the ages of your party. my son will be 10 whwn we go. So he will be charged as an adult through Disney, but is "free" when I book a room at the CS.

"Free" as in they won't charge you the per person add ons listed in the fine print? I know they don't charge them to stay in the room, but I'm pretty sure they still incur the "per person" fees listed at the bottom. For us, that's an extra $50.

the per person add on of 40$ is for persons 16 or older.
it's my understanding that he'll only pay the 13.95 + 5.00 extra

So what if you just wanted to walk the beaches there on the ocean side of Paradise Island? Is there anywhere you can do that anymore?

I priced a room for one night for the end of May and it really did not come out to be a bargain, the room, itself was expensive, then taxes was almost $80, plus the hit you with a cleaning fee for each person then to cap it off, the hit you for an energy surcharge of $13 per person, all in all, saved maybe $30 if I remember.

One other thing to consider, if you book a hotel room you usually cannot cancel with 3-5 days of the stay, so if the ship changes port days for some odd reason, you will be out of luck.

Just ask for the "bum boat" on the docks. It's a free ferry you can take to and from Paradise Island. Only drawback is you may have to wait for a while on either side because it doesn't run on a set schedule.
