Atlantis or stay on the ship?

We are doing our 3rd DCL in April. We're doing a 4 night with Nassau and CC stops. In the past we've gotten off in Nassau to walk around a bit then right back on the ship.

We're debating some time at Atlantis and would love some input. We'll have 2 adults and 2 almost 13 year old children. We won't have passports, if that influences your decision.

Would love some input from those that have done Atlantis and what you've done...would you do it again? Thanks!

We stopped at Atlantis on a Carnival Ship and while fun we will not being doing it again on our DCL cruise in March. Our plan is to stay on the ship. If you like water parks or gambling Atlantis may be fun for your family.

We were debating the same thing and decided to stay on the ship. For us, the price tag (almost $1,000 for our family to go the the water park there) was just too much to justify, especially after reading reviews that described long lines for the inner tubes, slides and mediocre burgers/hot dogs. We decided to add a day at Typhoon Lagoon water park to our post-cruise Disney World stay at considerably less cost instead.

I think we'll likely do the same thing. We're staying at WDW for a few days pre-cruise.

We thought about Atlantis too for our last cruise, but were turned off by some of the reviews that say the place has been slipping in the last few years: overcrowded, understaffed, in need of repairs, bad food... you name it. If you've been there, your mileage may vary but we decided not to chance spending that much money for what could turn out to be a subpar experience, and we stayed on the ship. At this point we're pretty much over Nassau; the excursions we've done there were one-and-dones for our family so we'll probably stay on board next time too unless something new catches our eye. I've read about some food tours (not offered through DCL) that sound pretty interesting.

we stayed at atlantis for a few days and while i think it's worth a visit, i wouldnt waste my time with it during a cruise. Too crowded and not relaxing at all - well, i supposed i'd go to the casino but i wouldnt do the water park.

We've been to Nassau as few times and did Atlantis once. For background, 2 adults who love casinos, beaches, animals, and water parks. We didn't do the water park but did see the aquarium, casino, and walked around the resort. We did not enjoy any of it except the aquarium. Our local casinos (Seattle area) are far superior. The resort wasn't in great shape and the employees weren't great. We left early, and would not repete unless doing a swim with program.

Done the Discover Atlantis excursion and it was fun. Atlantis is beautiful.

That being said, between Atlantis and Blue Lagoon, I would pick BL!

Given the price difference between BL and Atlantis, you should be able to afford an animal encounter at BL if you wish to do one.

I went to Atlantis when we did an NCL cruise... I LOVED their (not so) Lazy river called "The Current" ..it has rapids and turnoffs to go on slides

Im so torn on this. I really love a (not so) lazy river, but that would be the only thing I would go for. Do you think its worth the price just for that alone?

It was different than anything else I had ever done ... it was also fun to see the aquarium and stuff

Hi, our first time there was a few years after it opened. And we loved it, so much fun so we said we will be back one day. That day came and we were so excited to go...... unfortunately it had changed a lot. It seemed run down, old. And oh so crowded. I think BL would be nicer.

I don't know, I visited in April and I thought it looked great. That being said, I haven't see the waterpark. Maybe the waterpark is in bad shape? I don't know...

We did Atlantis but we booked a room at the hotel across from Atlantis that has pool privileges at Atlantis. It is Comfort Suites Paradise Island. Much cheaper and you get access to everything. And they know cruisers do this so it is not problem. You just taxi to the hotel, checkin and get your wristband. If you want you can use your room for showering or changing but we never did. Just got our wristbands and headed to Atlantis.
