Are you more of a card or a cash kind of person?

Card - carry very little cash. It was card all the way for the rewards but since so many places are charging a fee now for using card, not worth it for the rewards. Just got my hair trimmed last Friday and remembered to bring cash for it.

Always carry both. Smaller purchases make more sense to use cash. If making a larger purchase use the credit card to avoid carrying around large amounts of cash. Sometimes the card readers are down for whatever reason and then those with -0- cash aren't able to purchase anything. I don't see any need to change what I have always done.

Like others, I am mostly card but will use cash for smaller businesses to help them avoid card charges.

The other exception is the casino, where it's obviously best to have cash with you.

Let's at least get rid of coins. Round everything up to the nearest dollar and give it to charity or something.

Depends on the amount. I always carry about $60 in cash that I use for small purchases under $20. I have a cash back CC, it's the only one I have and I use it for everything else. I can't remember the last time I used my debit card, probably to get cash out of an ATM. I also only write one check a year. Our little local tag office only takes cash or check if you go in to pay. If you pay by sending in the bill you can use a CC but they charge a whole dollar for that. Since I'm retired, I can easily just go to the office and pay it and there is never a line.

OMG, my lifelong hatred of pennies is being brought to the surface. I realize that pennies matter and why, mathematically, they add up. They are still horrid.

01 or 02 cents over goes to the payer. 04 or 05 over goes to the payee. If it's 03 cents then the payee and payer have to rock/paper/scissors to decide which way it goes. Pennies no longer matter.

I have been using card lately. To get points and convince. I tried to go cash only for budgeting but somehow it stressed me out. Our local pizza shop had a cash discount for the past few years so I normally paid cash there. They have done away with it so I will most likely use card there.

I get the idea of trying to make small purchases with cash, but I work at a coffee shop and you would be shocked at the amount of people that use a hundred dollar bill to pay for a cup of coffee. Stores like that are not set up for large bills. We honestly are not supposed to have any 20s in our drawer so making change requires a manager and other guests a longer wait

Oh, just used cash to buy my annual shipment of Girl Scout cookies. Some troops take credit cards or you can use a card on Digital Cookie but the troop I bought from today is cash only.

By dollar amount, most of my spending is by card, especially since I started charging my groceries, which is something I NEVER thought I would do. The old warning about not charging something that would be gone by the time the bill came.
If I am lazy I will buy gas on credit, but the 10 cent a gallon discount for cash is pretty attractive.
Big chain stores, usually card. Mom and pop places usually cash since they small businesses seem to really get hit hard by the credit card fees. Although more and more small businesses are adding a charge for using a card.
I never leave home without $60 cash in my wallet, enough to buy a tank of gas in an emergency like the POS network failures that happen from time to time.
Always use Card for gas since all gas purchases get 5% off.

Card.

I recently found a shoebox filled with quarters and am trying to figure out what to do with them. I assume the man was saving them to do the laundry but the building switched to an electronic system. Then there’s the water bottle he saved paper currency in…kinda sigh ish.

not a fan-grew up with parents who practiced ben franklin's saying of 'watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves'. served them well and so far me too. them pennies add up-some big dollar scams were done undetected for years by virtue of keeping the dollar amounts of the thefts/skimming under 99 cents each instance.

I have managed to save quite a bit over the years by saving change. Especially now that the credit union we go to has a free change machine
