Hi again!! We are direct purchase owners since 2007. My question is this. If we purchase the same UY but a different resort, can those resale points be used at all resorts since there are restrictions now with buying resale even though we are already direct? Will DVC limit the resale contract for booking at say Riviera or future resorts? Also what if you transfer retail points into our a direct contract for booking a trip, does that limit where we can book? Thanks. If there is info on this and you want to point me in that direction please do. TIA!!!!

Being a direct member does not "unlock" your restricted resale points. Resale restrictions will apply.

Separately (but related), there's no such thing as transferring points from one contract to another. You transfer from one MEMBERSHIP to another, but since you'll have the same use year, both of your contracts will be under the same membership in the first place.

A good framework to think about it is that the restrictions don't apply to you, the owner; they apply to the contract. A resale CONTRACT has restrictions even if otherwise you're a direct OWNER.

The exception to this rule is when it comes to Membership Extras, which attach to the owner, not the contract. If you take a trip using resale points, you'll still get your blue card benefits.

Points carry the restrictions. It doesn’t matter what else an owner has. Any resale points purchased post 2019 can not be used at RIV, VDH, CFW, and presumably all future resorts.

Thank you!!!! So if we bought say an OKW resale and wanted to stay 7 nights on our direct points at say Riviera, but needed 35 more to make that happen we could not book those two nights with OKW points. Correct?

Thank you!! Understanding this better now. 🙈
