Another podcast is having a Disney cruise!

Be our guest podcast is also doing a cruise.

I'm going! I'm going! :cool1:

I've always wanted to go on a DIS cruise, but since I'm a teacher, it was bad timing. Now they're having one in summer (2012?), but I can't afford two years in a row.

Looking forward to sailing with Mike & the Be Our Guest Podcast crew!

I don't like the Lou Mongello podcast. It's very professional, well done and very informative...I just can't listen to it. Too slick and schmoozy for me. I want to scream, "Just talk like a person, for Pete's sake!"

I do like the WDW Today podcast and listen on a regular basis.

The only ones I ever listen to are the DIS one and the WDW Today one.

I think that Reunion is what is left of Mousefest. I have no idea what happened there, but Mousefest is no more. Such a shame.

I think MouseFest was a victim of its own success. It got to be so big that no one wanted to organize it any more.

(And sorry for what ABD costs they better make sure I don't have ONE moment when I am not personally the most satisified person on the trip... and since I KNOW they can't do that, I won't bother to give them cash. Those trips are WAY WAY WAY overpriced IMHO!)

I have yet to hear from someone who went on an ABD trip that didn't have an outstanding time. You should look into them again. I'm excited to go on my first with the DIS Unplugged this summer. :woohoo:

All of the many guests on ABD trips applaud your self awareness and thank you for it

My "must listen to" podcasts include WDW Radio. Lou is a very rah rah guy who works incredibly hard to produce a top notch podcast.

Remember people, there is enough Disney for everyone!!

Agreed. Love WDW Radio!

If I were spending top dollar to do an ABD tour, I would prefer an adults-only trip myself!

ABD offers family travel and adults only travel.

The options are out there.

All of the Dis Unplugged Adventures are inclusive of adults and children.

Sounds like no one agrees with me so I will just bow out of this discussion. Go have your adult conversation and try not to make someone feel so bad for having their child join them on a special Disney vacation. I'm not feeling to happy right now.

It's just a choice. Depending on the trip, I might travel with young grandkids or just with adults. I love having young ones with me at Disney but it doesn't stop me from traveling with just DH. Hope you feel better! :flower3:

I listen to 3 non-Dis podcasts. They are all different. This one is my "must listen" every week. I agree there is plenty of Disney! :thumbsup2

Lou seems like a very nice person and this comes through his podcasts. While they have a more "radio feel", I still get a lot of information from him. As I stated above, though, the Dis is my absolute favorite (I also found it first on iTunes).

--Danibelle: do you mind divulging what other podcasts you listen to? I am always trying to find more Disney podcast goodness for my commute! I agree....Lou is great. There is plenty of magic to go around!

In addition to the Dis:
WDW Radio
Inside the Magic
WEDway Radio (this podcast is mainly descriptive of Disney trivia (and historical segments).

WDW Today is fun too. They are not always accurate (I find myself screaming the correct answers at my car radio more often than not ;))- but they are a hoot to listen to. All nice guys too- I have met them all at previous Magic Meets.

And I also subscribe to Season Pass- they are not strictly Disney, but all theme parks. So I pick and choose which episodes to listen to. They do a nice job on the Disney episodes, and have had come pretty great interviews. They did a 2 part Bob Gurr interview- the 2nd part was while Bob was in a hot tub at a ski resort! Not that we've met him, I can totally see this!

A lot of people like Be Our Guest, but there's usually too much giggling for my taste. (Just my opinion)

You too, huh? :) Then again, I've done it once or twice with the DIS too ;)

Reiterating what others have said-

There are LOTS of Disney podcasts out there, all different perspectives and different personalities. I've had the pleasure of meeting lots of the podcasters, mostly at Mousefest gatherings over the years. :cool1:

Although Unplugged is my very favorite (these are my buddies talking, and I love the interaction between them and the variety of topics), I also have a lot of respect for the others and like to hear THEIR voices, too!

The Disney community is huge, and personalities like Deb Wills, Lou Mongello, Steve Barrett, Mike Scopa, and so many others are part of the family, whether they're podcasting, writing books, providing travel info on their websites, doing cruises and trips...

There's MORE than enough Disney to go around!

I agree with this! I love listening to them, love the length of their episodes (a good 5k distance podcast), but I often wonder why they don't seem to get the correct answers first before reading listener emails. But they are so freaking funny and good natured that I am willing to overlook that;). HEN-REEEEY! And Mike and Len's information about Disney races really helped me when I was training for the Wine and Dine. If they hosted a cruise, I'd be there in a heartbeat, but it sounds like DCL isn't a must do for them. EVERY podcast I listen to has given innaccurate information at some point, but as the info always seems to change at the drop of a hat, it is understandable!

Oh, and only 35 more days until that "other" Disney podcast cruise:goodvibes:banana:

I had the pleasure of having lunch last week with Len Testa - he's a great example of the best of the Disney fan community. I have a great deal of respect for him and the work he and his team do on a consistent basis. His TouringPlans.com web site is phenomenal and I know they put a huge amount of work into what they do and it shows.

You have got to be kidding?

Sorry, but that attitude makes me think "there's a reason I don't want to be around your kids"

Some of us chose NOT to have kids and don't think that everything we do should involve you kids.

I am not offended by your choice to do a trip that does allow kids, but you would be offended by my choices?

(And sorry for what ABD costs they better make sure I don't have ONE moment when I am not personally the most satisified person on the trip... and since I KNOW they can't do that, I won't bother to give them cash. Those trips are WAY WAY WAY overpriced IMHO!)

Since the "I was offended" comment was directed towards me, I already posted a non-confrontational and logical reasoning behind my comments. The person I unintentionally offended didn't post back, "Ok, I was a little hasty in my judgement", but that's ok. There are some Disney parents out there who freak out when they think people aren't welcoming children at Disney. And it wasn't like that. At all. I actually like kids, even though I don't have any. I just choose to have certain trips with only adults because I tend to relax more.

And I guess Adventures By Disney isn't marketed to you if you feel they are overpriced for what you get. I went on the Backstage Magic ABD in December 2008, and I can tell you right now, there was no way I would have had access to the majority of what I saw in California. Not by a long shot. I felt the money I spent was well worth the access I had to things like the Henson studios, Imagineering, Walt's apartment above the firehouse at Disneyland. D23 members have been able to do events at the Burbank studios lot, so I didn't include that, but still...it was worth it.

The service of being picked up at the airport, and all your bags are magically transported to the next hotel was worth the price to me. I felt pretty pampered by that. And the majority of my meals were included, so that expense was also factored into what I felt was a pretty fair cost.

If it's not for you, don't book it. But I know that I want to do another ABD trip because of my experience on that trip. And yes, I want to do another adults-only trip. I hope that doesn't offend anyone else.

We are also a child free family (by choice) and I too would choose an adult only trip if I wasn't choosing to join the Dis group. I don't feel this is anything for anyone to feel offended by - its simply my preference.

There are a lot more things I could do or say that would offend some people but I would never of considered choosing to join an adult group to be one of them.

If there are children in our travel group, its not like I'm going to be mean to them or pinch them but I will simply choose to socialise with the adults in the group rather than the children for the majority of the time.

In terms of "worth it", I too had to think carefully about the cost of the Backstage Magic trip, its a heck of a lot of $ but I weighed up the fact that there are so many things included that you can't put a $ value on, that I decided to just do it. We are cutting corners on some parts of the rest of the trip in order to keep our expenses down.
