Alcohol delivery rumor- Confirmed

I mentioned on another thread: On my way to the speedway station by DS a few weeks ago- I went through the Grape fruit garage and asked the security guard on the DS side to make sure I could walk out of the garage (took a different way previous) He went out of his way to tell me I could not bring back beer or wine or like he said because of the glass I asked about cans he said no outside alcohol period. He was very nice as we made some jokes.... he did tell me I could walk in a different way where there was not a check point. On my way back he just smiled at me... It seems Disney is trying to make it harder to bring in outside liquor as one of the jokes.... How else can you peddle 11 beers and 15+ drinks. Years ago I would haul a case back just walking across the street... Then the walkway by the bus stop which is now CM only although you can walk both ways you will just be escorted to the garage to walk through security on the way back. The sidewalk that disappeared in front of the speedway by the BW sometime between 2019 and 2021.... you can still get there but you will need to walk on the curb for a few hundred feet it has become difficult to BYO these days unless you pack in a checked bag, drive or take an UBER.

I spoke with Garden Grocer today about my upcoming September trip, my order includes beer and white claw. They said "No worries"! They have a contract with Disney, this is meant for instacart etc.

I have a friend there and she asked about the policy she I am going in September.

She asked if there were any exceptions and was told that no delivery service would be allowed to leave it without the guest there to accept it.

I’ll see if she can ask again about Garden Grocer to see what answer she gets.

I would think (hope) that if there was an issue with the delivery, Garden Grocer would send emails to their customers with orders informing them. Also post something on their website. Please keep us posted!:-)

Walt Disney World Hotel Bell Services No Longer Holding Alcohol Deliveries

August 7, 2023 by Shannen Michaelsen

Walt Disney World Resort hotel bell services are no longer holding alcohol deliveries.

Guests can have various services like Amazon, DoorDash, and Instacart deliver groceries to their Walt Disney World Resort hotel. As of October 2022, bell services were able to hold alcohol deliveries. As of August 1, 2023, bell services are no longer able to do this. Guests must be at bell services to accept any alcohol at the time that it is delivered.

Bell services Cast Members can assist with handling non-alcohol groceries. As with package deliveries, if they have to store the groceries, there is a $6 fee for most items.

Bell services will also no longer transfer perishable groceries from one hotel to another.

edit:
Policy from WDW website

Getting Grocery Orders Delivered to Your Disney Resort Hotel Room

Grocery deliveries are subject to the Disney Resort hotel’s policies and may be unavailable, limited or restricted. If the delivery service vendor requires age or ID verification, Guests are required to meet and accept delivery directly from the vendor; Disney Resort hotels will not accept delivery of such orders on behalf of any Guest.
For other grocery orders delivered to the Disney Resort hotel during your vacation, a $6 fee will be charged to your room account for each grocery delivery order brought to your room by Bell Services or Luggage Assistance. Alternatively, these deliveries may be picked up in the Resort Lobby from Bell Services or Luggage Assistance at no charge.

I hope they figure it out for those getting deliveries soon but Instacart was never able to leave alcohol. I saw a post somewhere that stated they weren't able to get their alcohol but garden grocer made a second trip back when the guest was there. So who knows the real deal until we get a confirmation from someone there now that used GG.

My friend did ask again today at Animal Kingdom about GG. She was told that there were no exceptions to the rule and that the guest must be present to accept the delivery.

I reached out to GG and they are saying that it should still be allowed but that bell services won't deliver to the room, one must pick it up in person....

When I informed them of what bell services said, there response was just that its still infux and if there is a change, they will let people know...so, it seems that the information from the company and Disney is still different.

I am just going to continue my normal process and get it on the way to the resort...

With GG sky high prices, the Alcohol being delivered without the guest present was really the only reason to use them. Now that its potentially gone I'm not sure why anyone would ever use them over Instacart/walmart/amazon etc.

Hi,
I emailed Garden Grocer this morning, asking if bell services will HOLD the alcohol if customer is not there yet due to travel/flight etc. I also mentioned that some posts have said NO EXCEPTIONS! Their response was: "Yes! we have been delivering with no issues, bell services just advised to make sure the customer is aware they will not deliver to the room and will ask for id when picking up the order." As has been mentioned in other posts, they did say that if there were ANY changes to ANY part of the process, they would notify us prior to delivery date! Fingers crossed!

The thing that i followed up with and didn’t get a response was if they have delivered without a guest present to sign since August 1st.

My friend did say that bell services will hold the order once a guest signs if room is not ready.

I am personally going to go with bell services answer..two resorts with the same answer.

But it will be nice to get first hand experiences!

The question of whether they will transfer the alcohol to your other resort is a good one. If they won’t, I will need to change my plan for delivery. Are they still transferring normal food items? I know they won’t transfer items that can spoil.

We are checking into Old Key West on Monday am. Plan to have Garden Grocer deliver our order around 5pm. We do have alcohol in our order so I will update here how it goes as soon as I know.
Hope all goes smoothly! 45 days for me and my girlfriend, will be at Port Orleans French Quarter. Also using Garden Grocer with alcohol.

Thank you for sharing because this does match what bell services confirmed with my friend this week regarding all companies.

It does sound like they will be flexible and do multiple deliveries for people to meet the guest which is great! I am also glad to hear that bell services will hold until room is ready.

So I’m here to report that our order through Garden Grocer was delivered last night (including alcohol) and no one needed to show ID.
My son 22 and his fiancé went for a walk and I told them to check at bell services in case our order had been delivered. They checked and the CM said not yet but just then a van pulled up and it was GG.
The CM confirmed the last name and pulled our order directly to a golf cart and they brought it to our room.
Perhaps there is some kind of agreement with Garden Grocer?
