Airlines to Jackson for Quest for the West

Hello Folks,

I've been looking at airlines into Jackson Wyoming for our Quest for the West trip next year. I'm way to early, but you can never been too prepared!

I have to make connections from my area (Albany NY area) and I am thinking of going the night before.

I also have looked at flying the first leg of the trip and staying over night at a hotel near the airport. Salt Lake City looks better than Denver as far as the flights for the next morning. The flight from Denver appeared to be on a very (8 rows only) small plane.

Has anyone had any experience flying into Jackson? What airport (airline) did you use to get there?

Thanks in advance.

We are also going on Quest for the West next year. When is your trip? We are July 23. We have made our airline reservations with ABD already. We are flying Delta from Houston to Salt Lake City and Delta from Salt Lake to Jackson. Our fare is $573.30/person, tax and fees included. We arrive into Jackson at 11:30 am on the first day of the adventure and fly out at noon on the last day. As soon as you are able to book, I would. Jackson is a small airport and flights in and out at the times necessary are limited.
Can't say enough about letting ABD book your flight for you. They booked our Southwest Splendors that we took last month. Anything goes wrong, and they handle it for you. Absolutely no worries, which is what these trips are supposed to be about!

Thanks for the advice. We are going in September.

I'll have to check out the Delta connections. From where we fly out of, I think we will have to leave the day before and stay an extra day on the end.

I'm trying to look for only one stop connections, but finding it difficult.

Thanks again.

We did the Quest for the West this past summer. We flew American Airlines. As the previous poster mentioned it s a very small airport, so there is not a lot of options. I remember Delta and AA, but there might have been a third at best. We looked on line, found the best flight for our schedule, then had Disney book it for the protection. For us it was best to fly in the day before. Hope this helps.

Just came back from our own Yellowstone/Teton adventure there (not ABD). Flew from Chicago to Denver on United, then Denver to Jackson on a United Express/Mesa Airlines codeshare. On the way into Jackson from Denver, it was a small prop plane that seated around 30 people. Leaving Jackon, it was a big Airbus. 757's also have no problem with the quick climb out of this airfield.

Jackson is a tiny airport but wonderful to fly into with the Tetons flanking your landing and takeoff. No jet bridges, so you have a taste of the halcyon days of air travel walking down stairs onto the the tarmac and through the elk antler arch into the terminal. And did I mention the Tetons RIGHT THERE? It is pricey to fly into Jackson...we hoard our Chase United Mileage Plus debit card points for this location...enough for two free flights there every other fall. We have in the past taken Southwest to Salt Lake City and taken the 4 hour or so drive, but you lose nearly a day's holiday on either end of the trip.

United is another option. There are non stop flights from Chicago to Jackson. United offers that, there is on per day departing and arriving and AA does during certain times. I would go the day before the trip starts because of the airline limitations.

We did this adventure this past summer. It was too wonderful for words!! You will love it!!

Anyway, we flew United out of LGA in NY to Denver, then from Denver to Jackson. There was only 1 flight from Denver to Jackson per day. The fare was ridiculous $720 each, and this was booked at 330 days out. We priced it every which way, even through Disney, but this had the only times to get there on time. We flew in that day and luckily had no delays.

Good luck.

What date in September are you going? We are on the last trip of the year, which I believe is Sept 6-12, and I am booking my flights with miles tomorrow on United. I am just waiting for Sept 12 to be available to book. Because it is so early I am able to get the tickets for 25,000 miles each.

We are flying in from Washinton DC and right now the fares are running over $1000 each. Miles will be a lot cheaper.

Hey there!

We did this trip the last week of June. Flying out of Miami we used American Airlines which connected via Dallas. The flight was fine and the layover in Dallas not too long. Out of Dallas American flies 757's so no worries there..

I have booked our flights using miles on United for next Sept and was glad to get them for 25000 miles each. We travel a lot for business and do not mind the small turbo prop planes, so no big deal for us on the flight from Denver. We are flying in the day before just in case there are delays. United now has two flights a day from Denver to Jackson.
