I think we're going to buy a small add (50 or fewer pts) on at AKL. Does this mean that I can book at AKL at 11 months w/ those pts and then at 7 months at AKL w/ my other pts if I need more days?

That is correct. If you want to book more than 50 points with the home advantage, you can always bank and borrow to increase the number of points using your home booking advantage. You would then just bank the points from the other contract that you aren't using that year, or use them for another trip.
