Accessible rooms at the AKL

Has anyone stayed in a AKL Standard, Savannah, roll-in shower room? We are going sight unseen because we love animals. We have always stayed at the Beach Club or the Yacht Club. The rooms are large and the bathroom is perfect for rolling a wheelchair around in. The AKL room will have a "king bed and a daybed" as opposed to two queens and a daybed. Is sounds like this might be a smaller room. Thought all the deluxe resorts would be the same and now I'm wondering if the room will work for us. Any information about the room configuration or bathroom - especially the roll-in shower - would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We stayed in a standard room with a parking lot view and roll-in shower ... and I would definately not recommend a standard room at AKL if you have a wheelchair, especially a motorized one. My friend (who uses a power wheelchair) stayed in a standard room with one of her other friends, and they had quite a few problems there. The bathroom was spacious, but the room was TINY!! My friend was constantly hitting the furniture trying to maneuver in the room. There was the king bed and a folding chair that turns into a bed, and that was about it! There was very little room, and the balcony was completely useless to get to with the chair and table blocking access. But the good thing about the room was that the bathroom was great - huge roll-in shower, and plenty of room around the toilet area for a wheelchair. I felt a bit bad since I booked the room for my friends (I had an ajoining room), but I felt being in a one-building resort made up for it (we were close to the lobby, easy roll to the bus stop, buses never crowded when arriving). We managed okay, but there is no doubt about it - AKL's standard rooms are very small!!!!
