A question about the queen of hearts castle

Did the slide down the side of the castle in Alice's Curious Labyrinth ever actually work or was this just an imagineering idea that was built but abandoned before being opened to the public?

I might be wrong, but I seem to recall reading (possibly on here) that the slide did work, but it went so fast kids were flying out the end and into anyone passing by at the bottom - so they closed it.

I'm sure someone will be along to confirm/deny this as I might just have dreamed it

You are right, they closed it for safety reasons!!!!
