A Private, Romantic 30th Anniversary Trip- Just Ask My Friends! Last Afternoon: EP p. 37 9/19

It is so neat that they put your name up on the poster. And your ride photo is awesome!

I really liked the Jawas. It sucks that they are leaving.

Great photos with the anniversary buttons!

I love that they put people's names on the posters like that. I haven't had it done there but have at the exit of Space Mountain.

I'm impressed that you sneaked in a ride on RnR before your Boma dinner and that you had place of honor on the poster! Gosh some people are just grumps (silly woman). You and Mark look so relaxed and happy in your photos  and I love that you're jawa sized ( me too):rotfl:

Great picture with the Jawa I'm sad they are leaving too :(
Another great picture of you and Mark and very cool about the poster :thumbsup2
Glad you were able to ride RnRC ::yes::

My DH and DS would be totally bummed too if they couldn't ride RnRC.
My DH's name was on that poster too on our April trip.
Love your anniversary buttons. We have them too.
OMG I don't think I knew the guitar was on a keyboard either. There's always people sitting in front of it.

I love picked onions, too. We used to dine at the San Angel Inn every trip, and there was a pork dish that had these. At home, I will soak red or sweet white onions in white vinegar when I am cooking some Mexican dishes.
Do you get pink pickled onions if you use red onions? How long do you soak them in vinegar? I need to try these out. There is a watermelon salad that they serve at Flower & Garden, and I think Food & Wine, that I just have to try to make out home.

I turned to the woman and said “Did you get creeped on, too?”

She looked at me like I was a psycho killer.

Whatever!

I've gotten some strange looks, too, from people I've tried to talk to. ;)

Food & Wine Festival booths for lunch are the best! Did the Italy booth have the ravioli or lasagna this past year? Also, the Italian Margarita? Those were always my favorites and I haven't seen them in any trip reports.

Cute picture with the jawa! Yay for short people! (I'm five feet one inch tall)

Very cool getting your name on the poster! I wonder how many people actually miss their names.

Good choice with Boma for your anniversary dinner. I'm getting ready to drool!

The posters are a fun touch! But a bit unsettling. Weird that they include your hometown.

:magnify:

The Jawas were awesome. I never traded with them, that sounded like a fun thing to do, but I'm sure it got out of hand.

I'm glad we wore the buttons. Lots of Happy Anniversary greetings.

The personalized surprised messages are neat. I don't think I have seen that at Space Mountain.

:goodvibes

I'm glad that a ride on RNR fit into our plans.

I think the woman was taken aback by the phrase "creeped on". But we use that at home all the time.

We looked relaxed in these photos but the early mornings and late nights got the best of us by the end of the nigh.

:cat:

Glad you were able to ride RnRC ::yes::

We made the most of our trip to AKL with a Jawa visit and RNR with the anniversary picture and recognition. A great start to the night.

OMG I don't think I knew the guitar was on a keyboard either. There's always people sitting in front of it.

It was a damper on HS visit the previous day when we didn't get to ride, so this was a nice pick me up!

Isn't that weird about the keyboard. I did not notice until I saw a picture in someone's trip report. Like you said, there must always be people standing in front of it.

:rockband:

Yes, red onions = pink pickled treats. Leave them in as long as you want, several hours. I think if you are having them for dinner, start soaking them in the morning.

So much for spreading cheer!

We didn't get anything from the Italian booth. Pretty sure the ravioli was there. I'll check my F&W passport when I get a chance.

I posted this over on the FAQ board but I'll share it here too.

Boma was an excellent choice!!!

I just went through the pictures I am going to use for the update and I'm drooling too!

::yes::

Jawa-height isn't too bad! Ewoks are shorter...

I love that the poster had your name on it! What a fun (and somewhat appropriate ... would have been more appropriate if Mark was there too) touch!

And yay for finally getting on RNR! I've had to skip that a few times, and it's always a little sad. I'm glad you guys got a chance to do it!

Hi Dee! I'm all caught up but I'm going to be replying in backwards order...lol, just seemed easier!

Tonight was our Anniversary Celebration.

Dinner at Boma (scheduled last minute), followed by the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise (also scheduled last minute).

Sounds amazing!

As we entered HS, we saw Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie meeting over in the corner

IMG_8601.jpg

I've never seen those characters at DHS before! How cool!

The Jawas were out. I’m glad we spent some time with them since it was announced this week that they will no longer be meeting at Launch Bay.

That is sad indeed. I hope they are replaced by something else...Tuskan Raiders!!! Or better yet, Jabba the Hut!!

LOL I would not ahve thought you were Jawa height at all!

What a lovely picture with your anniversary buttons underneath the RnRC arch!

IMG_8612.jpg

I can’t believe that it was just a couple of years ago that I noticed the giant guitar rests atop a keyboard.

I did not realize that either! Thanks for letting me know and I'll pay close attention from now on.

IMG_8613%20-%20Copy.jpg

My name and hometown (blocked out) appeared on this poster. Note for those of you who don’t know, my legal name is Diana, but not many people have ever called me that since birth when my favorite uncle nicknamed me “Dee Dee”

I did a double-take and pointed it out to Mark.

I thought it was amusing that only my name appeared on the Anniversary Poster. Still, a sweet touch.

That is so cool. I did not notice it last time we rode RnRC but it was a while ago. I also haven't ridden IASW recently so I haven't seen the new names at the end. Will rectify that in 2 weeks!

We were really disappointed when we had to leave the park the previous day without going on RNR, so I’m glad we had a chance to ride it at the last minute during the trip!

Yay! You look like you're having the most fun out of everyone!!

After a busy morning of attractions in Future World, it was time to get busy at the Food & Wine booths.
That sentence describes how I wish all my days would start... :rolleyes1

I confess I am a fan of the cronut! But I like a good ole plain cider donut, too :thumbsup2

He was not interested in riding again.

So we “Let it Go”
:rotfl:

The Jawas were out. I’m glad we spent some time with them since it was announced this week that they will no longer be meeting at Launch Bay.
What?! :worried:

Great picture of you two! :goodvibes

I thought it was amusing that only my name appeared on the Anniversary Poster.
 I find that amusing, too ::yes::

I never thought about that with the Ewoks! LOL! (Am I remembering correctly that you are not a super-psycho Star Wars fan? If so, impressive use of characters in a comment)

The poster effect is really cool but, yes, for anniversary greetings it should really list my spouse as well!

We were so happy we got a chance to ride RNR!

:rockband:

Hi Dee! I'm all caught up but I'm going to be replying in backwards order...lol, just seemed easier!

Thanks so much!!! I need to get over to your report, and binge-read. I have had minimal free time for DISsing, gosh, since May, I think. I am having trouble keeping up on the Beach Club FAQ thread and I always feel I need to catch up there before doing anything here on the trip report boards.

Sounds amazing!

Our anniversary celebration plan of Boma and the Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise was a great lineup. Funny thing is, they weren't part of our original plans and we booked both the previous day!

I've never seen those characters at DHS before! How cool!

I think these were pop-up characters- Is there a name for characters who are not scheduled but appear randomly?

I haven't thought of it before, but are there any Aladdin-themed connections at HS?

That is sad indeed. I hope they are replaced by something else...Tuskan Raiders!!! Or better yet, Jabba the Hut!!

Those are some excellent suggestions for replacement characters.

LOL I would not ahve thought you were Jawa height at all!

I am definitely height-challenged.

What a lovely picture with your anniversary buttons underneath the RnRC arch!

I don't think we have posed there before. We once had a family picture taken in front of the guitar, but that is the only time we had pictures not show up in our account. I even called and was able to tell them exactly when we were there and what we were wearing, but it didn't help.

I did not realize that either! Thanks for letting me know and I'll pay close attention from now on.

Isn't that crazy about the keyboard below the guitar! I could not believe it took me so long to notice it.

Yay! You look like you're having the most fun out of everyone!!

I do look like I'm into the ride!

:goodvibes

That sentence describes how I wish all my days would start... :rolleyes1

Yup, morning at EPCOT and Food & Wine lunch is a great start to the day.

There are also a lot of options including Magic Kingdom that would also be great star.

I confess I am a fan of the cronut! But I like a good ole plain cider donut, too :thumbsup2

I prefer savory to sweet, in general. Except for chocolate! Mmmmm.... chocolate frosted cronut. That wouldn't suck!

I haven't heard why the Jawas are getting the shaft, but its a bummer because they were fun to watch and meet.

 I find that amusing, too ::yes::

Yeah, why would you have both the wife and husband's name on an anniversary poster?

I'm glad we were able to book a Fast Pass for Rock N Rollercoaster that afternoon!

::yes::

Cheers to Boma!

We left Hollywood Studios and walked to the bus stop for Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Somebody got on the bus and asked the driver where Boma was. The driver, on the AKL/Jambo route, said “I don’t know”

:confused3

Someone else on the bus told him to get off at AKL.

At least we are headed to the right area

IMG_8622.jpg

We were a little early for our reservation, so we spent some time walking the outside trail and in the gorgeous lobby.

It was time for dinner!

The hostess saw our buttons and asked how many years we have been married.

When we said 31 years, she asked what our secret was. Awww!!! I don’t know what I answered, but my wise-*** answer is usually “We decided a long time ago that neither one of us is going to do any better, so we might as well stick it out.”

We were seated here, a really nice, quiet, out-of-the-way spot with a view outside. Our waiter was Isi and he was fantastic. Attentive and friendly.

Boma Food Porn!

I took lots and lots of pictures of the buffet and a few pictures of my plates.

Everything was SOOOOOOO good, from the soups, to the salad, the bread, the entrees and the sides.

I love to try everything and I ate way too much.

Although neither Mark nor I drink much at home or on vacation, today was a special occasion so we ordered drinks- I spy a mojito and I don't remember what the other drink is- I'm not sure where I have stashed my receipts.

IMG_8695.jpg

This was such a sweet touch. Although we were stuffed, we managed to eat most of the dessert and we drank the champagne which was quite good. We didn’t want to be rude and not enjoy this wonderful gift.

I think Boma is my favorite Disney restaurant. The exotic selections are plentiful and delicious. This visit certainly did not change that opinion.

Thank you! I've finally seen all of the Star Wars movies, so I actually understand some of these things now. I'm still not great with the Star Wars references, but I'm getting better.

The food at Boma looks delicious! I'm glad you guys enjoyed. The nut-crusted salmon sounds like something I would enjoy (I'm a big salmon fan) ... I wonder if I could find a recipe somewhere and make it at home.
So nice that they brought you a special anniversary dessert!

That is actually a good answer, I think. :)

That was nice of them to bring that out for your anniversary. We celebrated our 42nd anniversary at Artist Point in May and they brought us champagne and a little dessert. But the ybrought the champagne in the beginning of the meal, which was nice, because I had both glasses instead of ordering a drink. :)

I think Boma is my favorite Disney restaurant. The exotic selections are plentiful and delicious. This visit certainly did not change that opinion.
We have eaten at Boma twice now and really like the food. I'm glad that we finally tried it because it is probably the best dinner buffet at WDW. I'm debating whether or not to go there during our October trip. I only have one dinner ADR booked so far.

Mmmmm.... chocolate frosted cronut. That wouldn't suck!
No, it sure would not!

I haven't heard why the Jawas are getting the shaft, but its a bummer because they were fun to watch and meet.
I agree! And I'd been looking forward to another visit later this month :sad2:

The driver, on the AKL/Jambo route, said “I don’t know”
Um, what?! :confused3 That should be required knowledge!

“We decided a long time ago that neither one of us is going to do any better, so we might as well stick it out.”
:rotfl: I seriously LOL-ed on this!!!

I love to try everything and I ate way too much.
That's my go-to move at Disney.

Congratulations on your anniversary
I loved your comment about why you have been married so long :rotfl:
We celebrated 30 years in January

I really enjoyed all the food pictures it's been several years since we've been to Boma. Now I'm thinking we need to return.
What a nice ending to your meal :goodvibes
