Well hello! Super late trip report here! I wasn't going to do a TR, but I'm having withdrawals and the countdown to our next trip seems really long...So I want to relive this one with you guys! It was a quick trip, so it'll be a quick TR.
So, Introductions.
DH and I have been married 4.5 years, we have 2 DDs, both under the age of 3. They had some time with Gigi while we explored the World. Don't worry, we're taking them in December, keep an eye out for that TR. DH is a sports and recreation pastor at our church, and I stay home with our girlies. Oh, and plan fantasy trips to Disney, but who doesn't do that? That's how this trip was born, but more on that later.
Here are the basic:
June 1- Travel, Disney Springs, Dinner at O'hana
June 2- Magic Kingdom!
June 3- Sleep in, travel home
We are aiming for rest and luxury on this trip, and we got it! We also wanted to ride all the rides we couldn't bring the girls on. Done.
Day one- Travel/DS/O'hana
We got on the road early, around 7:30. The girl's were still asleep, so it as a good thing we had said our goodbyes the night before. I had run by Panera the day before and gotten a few bagels to take with us, we are them in the car and brought coffee from home. I use Young Living Essential Oils, so we brought along our USB diffuser and put a new combo in it. The hope was to create a scent memory of the trip
We live about 5 hours from WDW, so we were seeing this around 12:30
Ah, what a welcoming sign! We drove down Hotel Plaza Blvd and got even more excited when we saw this:
Let the vacation begin! We parked in the Lime garage, and made our way to the Springs. We hadn't been back since all the new stuff opened. It looks completely different (probably because it is) and it took us awhile to find our bearings. Luckily, the Welcome Center is pretty much right outside of the garage. We stopped there first, got a map, and talked with a CM. We had the dining plan and wanted to make sure we could use it to get lunch. Since we hadn't gone to the hotel and checked in yet, the CM had to call over and clear it with them. Apparently doing online check in doesn't suffice. I keep hearing mixed things about that. To be safe on our next trip, we've worked in time to check in at the hotel before heading to DS.
Doing Disney Springs first is one of our Disney traditions. From our honeymoon on, we've always made that our first stop, and we have always eaten at Earl of Sandwich first thing. This time, however, we wanted to try one of the new places, so we ended up at Blaze Pizza.
Um, Yum! This change of tradition did not disappoint. We each built our own, which means lots of pizza. Each was 6 huge slices. DH got basic pepperoni and I added mushrooms and black olives. I couldn't finish mine, DH took one piece, but I still ended up throwing some away. We would recommend Blaze, and we plan to return at some point. It was quick (duh, kinda their thing) and nice and cool inside. There was also patio seating that looked comfortable.
From lunch, we started shopping. We had been saving our pennies for a few months to be able to really enjoy all the new shops. We came away with a lot of great finds. We enjoyed looking in all the new stores, but we probably still spent most of our time in World of Disney. We also dropped by the new CocaCola store and rooftop bar. The original plan was to get a float tray, but we were wanting to save room for dinner, so we opted for splitting a frozen coke instead.
The rooftop is so nice! We loved taking in the views and taking a break from the heat. Its really shaded, and the breeze feels nice. We hit a few more stores, making sure to go by Stance on our way back to the car. DH has to wear dress socks with his dress shoes for work, so most of the staff find ways to make them fun. He ended up with a pair of Donald Duck socks.
Up Next: Checking in at the Grand Floridian! And dinner at O'hana! Oh my!
