January Monthly Recap:
January started off pretty busy. I had quarterly reports for work which were consuming until the 17th.
Financial - Haven't done too much in this area yet. Did get the house refinanced, which will save some extra money each month.
Have June Florida trip paid off by May. (Will probably be using tax refund for a big chunk of this.)
Start saving for cruise planned for 2020.
Set money aside for daughter’s college expenses.
Save money for Christmas. (I have seven kids, so I try to shop all year round.)
Set aside money for the roof. I think we’ll need to re-shingle soon.
House
Continue decluttering. Aiming for 1000 items, hopefully more. Not sure if I'll be able to actually count my items. Hubby was doing this with me and we disagreed on the number where we left off, lol. We both agree it's somewhere around 50 items right now. If I get in a good groove, I just want to focus on the area, and not worry about keeping track.
Get new couch for upstairs living room. (This one is a must; currently have two recliners that have seen better days. I’ll be hosting Christmas Eve in 2019 and I’ll need the extra seating.) Currently checking out President's Day sales.
Once I get the couch, I’d like to get new dining room chairs, if I can swing that, then I’d like a new dining room table next. I’ll see how that goes. The dining set isn’t absolutely essential, but would be nice to have. DH is in his last year of school, so these aren’t very high priorities right now.
Kids
Really push the extra reading and math practice with my 1st grader. Been spending more time practicing spelling words and reading each night. Also picked up some extra practice writing/reading books.
Encourage healthy eating choices and trying new foods for my two picky eaters. Found a couple Pinterest recipes to try.
Throw a nice graduation reception for my senior. Have the suite booked. Got a few food and gift ideas.
Personal
Continue to embrace the power of “no”. (I no longer feel bad about declining things I don’t want to do/have no interest in, like Tupperware parties, etc.)
Continue to keep the joy-suckers out of my life. (Life is too short to associate with folks that are negative all the time and leave me feeling drained.) Blocked one person on facebook for rude remarks to another individual, plus this person seems to love to argue just for the sake of arguing; I don't want to see that. Considering getting rid of facebook, actually.
Read one book each month. (Taking Comicguy’s lead here, but starting on a smaller scale. I use to love to read, then I remarried, doubled my family size, and reading for pleasure got put on the back burner!) Halfway through with one book, but things have slowed down a bit with work, so I'm hoping to have two read by the end of the month.
Do/get one thing for myself each month. (I turned 40 in October, and it really hit me that it’s time to treat myself more.) Got myself a fitbit.
Loose next 20 pounds. (I’ve lost 20 since October, but I’m pretty sure I gained back at least five from Christmas Break.) Oh, it was definitely more like ten pounds. Starting to walk more though and gradually getting back into my pre-Christmas Break habits.
Start walking more. (I can do this in the winter at either the old mall by my work, or the enclosed college football dome close to my house. I really have no excuses here given the close proximity.) Yep.
Work
Continue keeping my inbox tidy. Not looking too bad.
Delete old files I no longer need or have saved somewhere else. Started going through alphabetically, have A through D completed.
