Just back from BCV after a split stay with BLT. I posted a pool update while I was there, but here's a little more feedback about our stay.
Compared to BLT, the 2 br villa was tiny, and had very little drawer space for clothes. Thr bathrooms and kitchen appeared clean, though the furniture appeared to not be dusted in weeks.
The good: the pool is big. The recreation staff seemed great, including many lifeguards that even ran routine safety drills. The location is great, the walk to International Gateway is so short, and the boat the DHS a nice perk.
We had breakfast at Captains grill at YC and it was great.
The bad: hurricane Hannas closed for renovation. This is a total inconvenience for refill cups, bar and food services, bathrooms...the line at the pool bar was often very deep, and they only have 1 pool server (the others reportedly call out all the time). The famous pool slide( the reason we stayed there) was down during our entire stay, a part was ordered from California but was not installed in the 4 days we were there. We were told by staff that this happens every few months, e same part needing replacement, and they then wait for the part to arrive from California each time. The gym is also closed and was moved to the solarium, which is machines only, no weights.
Dinner at cape may cafe still had good crab legs and clams, but there was a lot less variety. The kids selections were awful. The chicken nuggets were replaced with cod nuggets, the pizza was inedible. Our waiter brought us chicken nuggets, but they were e gross processed McDonalds style. For the price, it was not a great meal.
On the last day of our trip, someone stole my son's arcade card from the air hockey table. I finally went to the concierge, as the hostesses suggested at beaches and cream. After 3 calls for a manager, they never showed. I expressed concern over the state of BC during our stay, and was told that DVC knew of the closures and it was "all on dvc" to tell us. Thr bartender at Arielles had flagged down the recreation manager, who was so kind and brought my son a new arcade card.
Our villa location overlooked trees, eater, and the quiet pool. I would avoid this location. Quiet it is not, particularly late at night. Lots of hooting and hollering.
Overall, it's a great location and a nice pool, but I would never recommend anyone go there in it's current state, as the closures do affect the quality of your stay. The villAs need a refresh. Other guests told us the regular rooms were much nicer, but they also were upset over the closures and lack of service at BC.
