Has Tony's Improved?

Exactly! Thank you! Here in NJ friends call me a pizza snob because I'm just so picky with my pizza. When my parents were still in NY and we would go visit, I would always be tempted to bring back home pizza pies so they knew what they were missing out on.
Im not from NYC, but i've visited enough times to know what real pizza (with amazing red sauce) taste like. :)

Yes the red sauce definitely taste like seasoned ketchup.

Which NY pizza are you referring to?
Disney pizza? Yes, must be the same sauce.
Actual NY pizza? Hell no!! NY pizza is fabulous! Not even remotely similar sauce.

Meh..................NY pizza been there done that nothing to write home about.......yawns........................had better

I know Pete and co. did a dining review of Tonys (under new management :upsidedow) and I was wondering if people have experienced it first hand. Has the food improved? The times I have gone before was not up to my Italian standards but if I heard multiple places it was doing better I would give it a go. Thoughts??
I was drinking a lot on my 40 bday this November I got drunk and made my wife go to Tony's as a joke meal it was so bad I was making fun of it as we ate.

I'm glad someone asked about Tony's for recent experiences because we have a reservation for there in July. We've been before and we've had mixed experiences there. A couple good and one not good. We've decided to give it another try since there is a new chef. Happy to see the reviews are better recently and more consistent. So based on that we are gonna give it another try as well. Thanks!
Dont still crap

Tony's is one of those places that is very, very inconsistent. I've eaten there 3 or 4 times over he last 30 years. The first time it was really great, the second time, it was just OK, the 3rd time, it was good again, the last time, which has been at least 12 years ago, it was just not very good at all. Each experience has been very different.

I have only ever had 1 good Italian meal in Disney World, and it was years ago at the 'non-Disney' operated Italian eatery in Epcot, Alfredo's Ristorante. I have since eaten a few times at Tutto Italia, Via Napoli, Mamma Melrose's, and Tony's. I finally stopped trying all together and don't get Italian on my Disney trips. I will fully admit my problem is I grew up in an Italian-American household in NY and that is what I am used to. I can enjoy Italian restaurants, even hole in the wall Italian pizza joints which are everywhere in NY and love it, but I just can't seem to find Italian I like anywhere else or at chains like Olive Garden or Carabbas. I recognize that I am difficult to please on this food front and the problem is mine. Luckily, when it comes to all other types of food, I am not like that and am not picky at all.

But anyway, I can't stand cheap jar tomato sauce or over-seasoned tomato sauce that places MAY make from scratch, supposedly, like Tony's claim, but thinks, when it comes to seasoning, to overdose the sauce. Less is more when it comes to things like oregano and basil. Cheap jarred sauces from like Francesco Rinaldi, Prego, and Ragu and others don't understand that. That being said, there are some more expensive premium jarred sauces like say, Victoria's which aren't bad at all - you get what you pay for.

Anyway, out of all the Italian I have had at Disney, Tony's was by far the absolute worst. They were worse than even Olive Garden. To me, even if they have been improved, they are probably now at best, at the level of say, Olive Garden, and I am pretty sure I still wouldn't like it.

We've been there a few times and really like it. We like to book sit down meals on our MK day, especially when its very hot out. This way we get away from the crowd and relax in the A/C (and have a cold beer:rolleyes1) I find QS restaurants at MK to be very hectic and crowded. This is usually an easy ADR to get even during the most crowded times.

Granted, it is not a first class dining experience. (I agree on the Olive Garden comparison) We aren't picky eaters and my kids love any and all pasta so its a win for us.

We ate there in March for the first time, I had the fettuccine Alfredo it was not bad but also not great. My husband had a pizza that he was disappointed in. I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

Not sure when new management took over but it was terrible when we were there 2 years ago. We won’t be back.

Ditto. April 2017...BLAHHHHHH. Only reason I booked was to get VIP viewing passes for the parade, which my nieces were dancing in. Luckily I had a Yachtsman Steakhouse dinner planned later that night :) Entrees were not even "fair". The raspberry sorbet dessert was good...especially on that 90 degree day. Wonder when new management took over???

Ive been to almost every TS restaurant on property (excluding the majority of Disney Springs, Mama Melrose, Spice Rd, Coral Reef) and only 2 places I wont go back. Tonys is one of them (Trails End dinner is the other) Others have been "OK", but if I was with others who wanted to go, I would go. If they wanted to go to Tonys or TE, I would catch up with them after dinner!

We are very picky with Italian food and really enjoyed Tratorria on Disney Boardwalk.

First off we are definitely not good critics. We like Olive Garden and Chili’s, we are pretty unrefined.

That said, We just had the single worst pasta dish in my life. We have really liked this restaurant the past few years, but this dish was bad. The pasta was mushy, like sitting in the water 10 minutes too long mushy. The sauce was marginal. I was once a poor college student who made and ate his share of pasta and I never once made anything as awful as this.

The Ceaser salad was good though

Were the seats for the parade good, if not here then where in the MK to eat, suggestions?

No offense to the previous posters but until someone who has been there in the past who thought it was horrible says it is now good -- until i see several posts like that -- i will remain far far away.
:lmao: This is me as well!!! Its the only restaurant im afraid to go back to. In all my years at disney, I have never tasted food so bad that i deemed it inedible, until Tony's (I literally couldnt swallow the meatball, it was that bad. My DS said the same). Until i read posts from ppl, like myself, who have been there before and hated BUT love it now...i'll stay far far away.

We ate there last July. I'm not sure when they changed to a new management? Anyway I ordered the spaghetti and I could hardly eat it. It's the red sauce that was bad! I tried to eat as much as I could but it did not taste good. On the other hand my 15 year old loved her chicken parmigiana. The service was good and everything else was fine it was just that sauce !
My granddaughter is begging me to go again this trip:crazy2:! I'm trying to get her to change her mind :rotfl:.

We had the EXACT same experience. And we are Olive Garden and Chili's eaters as well. The kids said they liked the pizza but all the adults did not care for their meals at all. I've never had pasta with that consistency before, it was not good. And I figured I was being safe with getting the pasta because how can they mess that up?? lol I was wrong.

Until I get a refund and apology for the slop the served us in place of actual food on our visit back in 2016, I'll never go there again either. Even if it's improved (as if the bar could possibly have been lower), I have to retain some amount of self respect.

For the lunch, we sat inside, not on the patio. Patio is basically a lucky draw. First come first serve.

For the lunch with VIP viewing, you are given passes for a viewing area after your lunch. From what I hear, its normally at the flagpole area, though the day we went, it was moved to a roped off area in front of the castle, in the "rotary" due to another event at the flagpole (filming??). It was perfect, front row view of the parade.

If youre lucky to get the patio for lunch, close to 3, sip on a beverage and dont move. Those seats are incredible for viewing.
