I purchased the Plastic F&W Tray with a drinkholder and a compartment for food a few years ago. I like it and typically bring it with us. :drinking1

Ooh, that’s a good idea! It looks like they are selling it again this year, so that might solve my problem - thank you!

I saw someone with a resort tray today and it looked awkward to carry. We’re on our way back to the room but the lines weren’t bad. I’m sure once 5pm rolls around the locals will be out.

That sounds very unwieldy! The tray I was considering is a mini one, half the size of a cafeteria tray. I think that the F&W tray that Disney sells will work better for me, esp as it has a drink holder too. I use a walking stick, so trying to juggle flimsy paper containers will just end up with me dropping everything!

Should have listened to DIS-ers. I’m not sure I’ll make it to my culinary demonstration. Thought I could maybe sweet talk the dining cast member to move it to Monday - no dice. :)

Is the Odyssey open this year? In the past, the Craft Beers was located there, but with Craft Beers in the Festival Center now, I’m curious if they are using the Odyssey for anything.

It's been many years since I've been during F+W time but we are going this year and I'm super excited. In the past there were places to buy full bottles of wine to take home. Do they still have that? If so, where is it located?

There is a wine shop in the Festival Center. Shops in the individual pavilions also may offer bottles for sale. I know France, Italy, and Germany do. Some varying experience as to if they’ll box up and let you walk out with a purchase or only send to a gate. I think generally it’s the latter but I was once allowed to take it when I told them I was heading right out (I was). They will not send to a resort or ship it to a home address.

I think I'd call back and see if another CM might be more accommodating. The answer will still probably be no, but you never know.
Otis is my new best friend. He was super sweet - first he tried really hard to book me on a different day. For some reason he couldn’t book anything on my departure day because it was my departure day.

Anyway, he was very nice and patient. He eventually got Guest Services to refund me for the event.

I will try to go to a demo on Monday if it looks like I have time and there is space day-of.

The wife and I attended this afternoon. It wasn’t nearly as crowded as I expected. We literally never stood in a food booth line for more than 1-2 minutes, and rode Soarin’ at 2pm with just a 15 minute wait.

Here are the things we tried today, ranked by how much I liked them. The number listed after the name of the dish is the score, ranked from 1-10. If there is more than one score, that means we tried it more than once.

Banana Almond Soft-serve Sundae - 9.0, 9.0 (Almond Orchard) - Refreshing and delicious!

Ropa Vieja Empanada - 8.5, 8.5 (Islands of the Caribbean) - Best empanada they’ve ever done at this festival.

Short Rib Tostada - 9.0, 8.0 (Mexico) - First one was amazing, second needed more sauce.

Seared Scallops- 8.5 (Wine and Dine Studio)

Xi’an Pancake with Beef - 8.5 (China)

Mango Bubble Tea - 8.5 (China) - Buy this at Joy of Tea next door, it’s a larger portion.

Charred Chimichurri Skirt Steak on a Smoked Corn Cake - 7.5 (Flavors From Fire) - Steak was great, corn cake was pasty and kind of gross.

Braised Beef Stroganoff - 7.5 (Cheese Studio) - Good flavors, small portion.

Quesito - 7.5 (Islands of the Caribbean)

Black Pepper Shrimp with Garlic Noodles - 7.0 (China)

Liquid Nitro Chocolate-Almond Truffle - 7.0 (Chocolate Studio)

Pancake Milkshake - 7.0 (Taste Track)

Croissant Donut with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream - 6.5 (Taste Track) - Tasted good, but texture was very chewy.

Seared Shrimp and Scallop Cake - 6.5 (Thailand)

Shrimp Quesadilla- 6.5 (Mexico)

Beef Brisket Poutine - 4.0 (Refreshment Port) - The “meat” was almost all fat, and the Cheese was a gelatinous mess.

Overall, a very good start! We’re going back Sunday, so I’ll update the list then!
