Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

I sadly left CBR yesterday, and now am back in the "real world." I stayed in a King Sized Bed Room #5401. It had a connecting door to room #5402. It was extremely nice to be so close to the Aruba bus stop. I found that the timing of the busses were on par with all of the other hotels on property. Due to a nice sprain at the beginning of my stay, I was usually getting back to CBR right at 9:00. The Illuminations Fireworks were right across the street, so at least I was able to see the areal portion in between the trees. It was a very nice stay indeed. I just wished that the weather didn't cut my first two days off of my trip. Though that is quite greedy of myself seeing as how many people have been affected by Hurricane Matthew.

The only thing that had me scratching my head was the fact that it would probably be easier, and quicker to have guests going to EPCOT being dropped off at the Beach Club instead of taking them to the front of the park. I am sure that the guests at the Beach Club would not be too fond of this idea though, and is probably a strong reason why they do not do it this way. What I envision is that CBR guest are dropped off at the Beach Club bus stop, and the bus could then be used to transport Beach Club guests to a different destination. It will probably never change to this, so I guess you can just say that it was a daydream that I had.

They just finished a room refurb a year ago. Could this be the long rumored DVC conversion?

I thought so too, but the permit seemed to mention most if not all the existing buildings. In the permit they are named "Lodge #4300", etc which seemed to me to match the building numbers pretty closely.

We are going Dec. 11-18. In all of our trips we have never stayed at a resort during renovations...how much drama does this cause? Will it be hard to get room requests, could they potentially have to reassign us to another hotel? Will it cause more crowding on the buses if they shut down one section of the resort and thereby cram more people into another section? I am probably worrying for nothing but I am definitely a Type A planner...lol

We are less than 60 days out from our stay at CBR. I didn't get any notifications about pre registering? Is that still something that should happen?

Also we have 2 adults, 3 kids and 1 baby. Do we somehow request a room with a pull down bed or how will that work?

I believe becaue you have 6 total in your room you automatically receive a room with a Murphy bed.

You can log in to mydisneyexperience.com any time now and do online check in. And i think you should automatically get a Murphy bed but you can also call disney and have them add it to your requests. I think it also may be a request at the online check in screen as well.

I think I must be missing where to do this. Is it in a certain section of the website? Sorry for being difficult!! Thank you for the help.

In our experience when it's a room refurb zero.

Will it be hard to get room requests?

It won't have any affect.

Could they potentially have to reassign us to another hotel?

Extremely unlikely.

Will it cause more crowding on the buses if they shut down one section of the resort and thereby cram more people into another section?

Each section can only house xx number of guests, so it won't cause any extra crowding.

Most of us here on the DIS are the same which is why we are here.

I have been at a WDW resort 4 times now during a room refurb and each time they had zero affect on our trip. In fact, for 3 of them we had no idea one was going on until they asked if the room refurb affected our stay during the post check out survey. And the other one we found out by hearing some CMs talking about it. WDW is very good about keeping guests away from the area currently being worked on. You may see some workers walking around but that's about it. A room refurb is nothing like the major construction that the Poly went through recently nor the current construction at Wilderness Lodge.
