What will you drink at midnight?

New Years Eve is this weekend. Many people like to toast the new year with a glass of something, often champagne, but sometimes other things, too. What will you drink at midnight, 1st January, 2024? It doesn't have to be alcoholic, so teetotallers can weight in too.

For me, I'll be at a private party and the hosts own a bar that makes craft cocktails, so I'll probably have something along those lines. They have a beautiful cocktail made with various cognacs that is a tribute to E.A. Poe. They've also been really experimenting with mezcal lately and my wife and I are having fun exploring this fascinating and complicated spirit.

Same here. My wife elected to be at work 6 am New Year's Day so no party for us. She unretired for a temporary part time project and the sooner it is done, the sooner she can reretire. She is 2 months in to a project that is expected to take 6 months to complete.

We too! There may be fireworks in our neighborhood, so, maybe we’ll be awake, but we have Gus scheduled to be in the kennel where it’s quiet, and so he’ll be fine.

Ooh… I’m interested in the Poe cocktail! Our older son is a huge fan of Poe.

And, while my husband is a bourbon drinker, he also really appreciates a good cocktail w/ mezcal… mezcal, like bourbons & whiskeys, are really fascinating when you start researching the history & traditions.

For myself, I’ll probably be drinking poinsettias - Prosecco + Cranberry Juice.

I know for sure that it has 2 types of cognac and oat milk. I'll ask our bartender tonight when I go what is in it.

I'm also a bourbon drinker and the stories behind these spirits are absolutely fascinating.
