Controversial Topics Board

I tried to be nice. But I just can't. Yada Yada Yada. Nobody cares. Talk all you want, but nobody gives a crap about your ad nauseum blah blah on given any topic. This board is is poops. You and TVGuy ....nobody cares!!! Good night

I would think the "which resort" and "which restaurant" posts would be better served in their respective boards.
Keep in mind though, Sam, any topic (within guidelines) is okay on the CB. Those topics, restaurants, resorts, etc. probably would be better served on their respective topical boards, but they are permitted here also. Back in the day, when I would see Disney topical threads, generally asking for Disney trip information, I would copy, not move, them to a topically correct board. That way the poster would get greater exposure from that board as well as the CB. Back in 2004, many folks left the DIS due to a couple moderators who went on a moving binge of moving many, many threads from the CB to other boards that they thought more appropriate. Copying would have been fine, helpful. All they did was to create animosity and many folks left, and never returned, including my wife, Marie (Lady M here)

's @eksmama01. You're back from a long trip, a packed van to unpack, in need of R&R time. You take a good rest tonight, come back in the morning bright eyed and bushy tailed, raring to go.'s

When you are viewing the home page of a specific forum, threads started by those you have on ignore won't appear. You can also do the "show ignored content" to temporarily see if any of those threads are of interest to you.
It does make the 1st and 2nd pages pretty short at times, but it is worth it.

True. But, purely my opinion of course, having threads in two forums means double the work for the OP to keep up with. I don't remember if it was the Dis or another forum I've been on that if a thread got moved, the link would still be in the original forum, but it would be noted as "moved to 'x' forum".

That is true here also, Sam. A moved thread is linked to its new location. However, this forum, the CB, should never have threads moved, unless, as it appears, something similar to the old Debate Board comes to fruition. On all the other boards here, if a thread is off topic of that board, it should be moved to an appropriate one. Just not here on the CB though.

I think it was a lighthearted joke by a poster who has that sort of posting style. Likely not mean-spirited. Try not to take offense. But this is the sort of thing I’m talking about - people‘s feelings can get hurt here. No one comes here to get beat up. At the same time, we do need to try to keep a somewhat thick skin and take things from where they come.

Anyway, 👊 I’m not into soccer but if that’s your thing, then, hey.

You may not remember this, but not too long ago you called me out on a “Wow” emoji I put on your post.

Point being that, yes, emojis can cause people to react. Someone could be having a bad day and it hits just right, etc.

It’s too bad we don’t have a thumbsdown emoji. I think that would be preferable for disagreements.
:goodvibes I do remember, and I assume you and I are comfortable going back-and-forth with one another and everyone else here. I wasn't implying that posters can't or shouldn't interact with one another in any way they want...just that nobody has to. An emoji reaction doesn't automatically command a rebuttal and being quoted by someone doesn't force one to continue or escalate that particular exchange.

ETA: Not to go totally off on a tangent, but I'd also love to see one of those huggy-heart "I care" emojis as a reaction option. It would serve very well for posts where you really have no words.

Indeed Pea-n-me, stay with me -

Seems people got offended over the idea they could possibly be offended and not be able to weigh in sufficiently on the degree their offense, which is offensive because everyone knows you should never waste a chance to be offended because what fun is that?
🤣

Agreed!

I haven’t seen that one before, but I like it, and it seems appropriate here tonight.

Thanks for the summary. This thread is starting to give me a headache. :headache:

I know that. It's just seems to be a running joke here at every opportunity. I actually do have a thick skin but that particular joke gets old after awhile.
