Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Information & Questions + Construction Updates

Hello! We have stayed at the Grand many times. But not since the rooms have been refurbished. What is the difference between a resort view room and the resort studio - lagoon or resort view. Are the room layouts the same if there a link to direct me so I can see pictures and the difference I would appreciate it. I am familiar with all the buildings and realize the resort studios are in big pine key. but I am more concerned with room layouts or are they all the same now

Also one more question I realize the renovations will start again in 2024 what would they the doing at that point the main lobby?

The layout of the regular resort rooms is the same as the layout of the resort studio rooms. They moved the closet from the hallway to along the wall next to a bed. The space that used to have the closet now has a long table. The bathroom has been updated to have glass showers doors and plenty of lighting. It is all one room now instead of having the sinks outside of the shower/tub/toilet room.

If I am staying at the Grand Floridian and rent a cabana, but some of my party is staying elsewhere (off-property in Orlando), can they come and enjoy the cabana for the day as well?

I agree. The pool of each hotel is supposed to be for the exclusive enjoyment of guests of that hotel.
Technically, all guests have to be registered as a guest of the resort to use the pool.

Second question, then.....do you think it's "too much" to rent a cabana for two people? :earboy2: I really want to enjoy the amenity of having a cabana, mostly for the included wait staff. (other family waited too long to book at GF, you snooze you lose!) I think I might do it for just my mom and I :)

Anyone have recent experiences with GF cabanas? Would love to know!

How many people in the party? You can have up to 5 adults in a regular GF cash room, so you could go to the front desk and ask to have them added for 1 day/night. I think that's somewhere around $35 per adult (if there are more than 2 adults on the room), but that might be worth it to you to have a pool day with your group.

Gingerbread House Will Return to The Grand

This year, a new display will be available at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort! Disney hasn’t shared what this new display will look like, but we can’t wait to see it.

Guests visiting Walt Disney World during the 2023 holiday season can see Gingerbread Displays at the six following hotels:

  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Disney’s Beach Club Resort
  • Disney BoardWalk Resort
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

I love the miniature village & train set at the YC—I’ll miss it

Just sharing some more videos and photos I found (always trying to find any recent photos/videos of the Grand to check on progress!)

For this one (filmed this past Friday night), you need to fast forward a bit but a CM in the shop upstairs talks about the refurb (1:26:11) and it's....interesting. They also walk around outside a bit (more of the wall outside GF Cafe/Gasparilla's came down.)

We are visiting from the UK November 24 on our 8th trip to WDW but first stay at Grand Floridian. We are doing a split stay with 14 nights at Wilderness Lodge and yesterday changed our Yacht Club booking for 4 nights to Grand Floridian Club Level Theme Park view.

Would we be in the main building with that room booking? I had a look on Touring Plans and it looks like there are 16 rooms over 2 floors overlooking the marina. However, on here some have mentioned theme park view club rooms in Sugar Loaf building - help please.

My husband and I will be at the Grand in 2 weeks and have rented a "Poolside Patio" at the quiet pool for just the 2 of us one day. I wanted a nice place to sit and some guaranteed shade.

I’m sorry I’m so late to this party, but does anyone know which rooms have been remodeled? Is it only the villas?

Our trip is later this week (!) and I’m considering a last minute switch from the Contemporary to GF. The new GF rooms look so nice! Hotel carpeting always seems to trigger an asthma attack so the remodeled rooms are important to me.

And how is the walk to MK? We are going for MNSSHP but have a 4 yr old who will be up way past her bedtime, so I’m hoping for easy access back to the room.

All rooms at The Grand are now updated. The walk, depending on how fast/slow you walk, is approximately 10-15 minutes.
