Christmas Shopping Today!

🎅 In my later years I've found myself shopping later and later, trying to enjoy the December hustle and sales (mostly online deals) as opposed to being done & wrapped by Thanksgiving. BUT during the year if I see a must buy item I do. I would say I have maybe a dozen small gifts put away so far.

We usually start December 15th when stuff starts going on sale. We don't have Amazon Prime anymore, but almost everything gets delivered in 3 days, and some stuff comes the next day even without Prim.

But we did buy one item we stumbled on in an auto parts store back in March.

Here is a sample of one of the things I bought early. Long story short DS#1 is multi-disabled, cognitively a child, considered non-verbal and LIVES for Disney. About 5 years ago he kept showing me the Viewmaster boxes at the stores (I think the new ones worked with cell phones) and then would shake his head no and put his hands to his face to mimic the old school Viewmasters and clicking them. Great, they don't sell them anymore. I spent lots of time searching online for a "projector version" and then eBay to buy some Disney reels. They are in demand so took a few months to win a few reasonably.

Mousesteps follows Disney merchandise so they put this out there and I was pumped, and immediately purchased one. And it's so reasonable!!! with reels and case. I can't wait to see his face when he opens it.

Mousesteps Shares Mickey Viewmaster

I've just started buying little Halloween things to send to my granddaughter in Indianapolis. :)

I've been buying little Halloween things FOR ME! And I assure you I DON'T NEED ANYTHING HALLOWEEN as that has been high holiday here for decades. Just shifting my focus to more inside, less outside and minimal bodies.

I have a few stocking stuffers just because I love filling stockings so I’ll pick things up when I see something that I know would be enjoyed. Beyond that, I don’t shop until Thanksgiving. I have that week off so I usually knock it out then. mostly online although DD and I do keep the tradition of hitting a few stores on Black Friday just for fun.

I started months ago, but not seriously. It's more like, if I see something that a recipient would like, I get it, because Lord knows if I'll find it--or even remember--by the time November rolls around.

I'll start more serious shopping in a month or two. Like last year, I'll probably get DD28 something for the apartment she shares with What's-his-name--last year, it was an air fryer. We decide on an item they want, but can't justify. They pick it out and put it on my credit card. That also saves the hassle of her getting it home from our house, 800 miles away.

I have absolutely no idea of what they want nor have I asked them lol.
My dgd bday is soon and I haven’t even started with that.

BUT: I am planning on next year Xmas present a trip to WDW! Maybe get some. Stuff this year for the trip? Thoughts?

I'm an Etsy junkie so I say yes! I've bought tons of cute things. Shirts, hats, tumblers, bags, charger holders...lol

I estimate I’m about 2/3 to 3/4 done. I keep a running wishlist for the kids and buy things as the price drops. Usually, prices are lowest Aug - Sept so that’s when I wrap up the bulk of the shopping. They’ll still get the chance to go through the Amazon toy magazine and walk the aisles of Target as we get closer to Christmas, so I won’t be fully done until Black Friday-ish, probably.

got a couple of ornaments. preordered a 'kenough' hoodie, did my first EVER purchase on ebay (a couple of items i had been searching for years for but were always overpriced/not in good condition).

most stuff i have to wait for vendors to open their christmas return period on.

We all love to get ornaments, so in July, when we were at a Christmas shop, each "kid" picked one out. Plus, I get my DD20 an angel ornament every year--she has an angelic name, and I make super fancy ornaments--about 6 a year, and give one to DD28 every year (sometimes to the other kids, too, but always her, since she lives so far away).

My theory is, when the kids move out, they'll have a nice "starter" set of sentimental ornaments. It's a good theory, but aside from the oldest, no kids are budging...
