*** Bay Lake Tower Owners Group***

Yeah that does seem like it would work. We can maybe splurge for the view and finish up elsewhere with a standard 1 bed for the other portion of our trip as we always split stay. Those railings are scary and once saw a photo of a kid hanging on the other side which made me so mad.
Studios fit us well but I envy the stroller parking spot, the real fridge, and laundry the most. I think if I opt out this trip and do this studio view, I may be tempted to just get more points but I told myself to wait another year at least with that ha.
addonitis is real!

Do the fridges in the BLT studios have freezer compartments? Just wanted to know in case we wanted to pick up some frozen snacks.

I couldn't find this group couple weeks ago and I thought I was going crazy!

Anyhoo...glad I found this now and just wanna say hello :wave2: to all my neighbors! Our contract is closed and just waiting on membership.
Honestly, 6 months ago BLT was nowhere on our minds and it was probably one of the last resorts we were interested. Then during our last trip, something happened and BLT got on the board! For a couple months, I still wasn't sure and I thought I would be okay with just getting more points at our other home resort and book BLT at 7 months. Then seeing how the market was still favorable to buyers at the time, rofr monster was still hibernating, did more analysis and thinking, I decided it would make sense to buy a small contract. So here we are, new BLT owners and couldn't be happier! :cool1:

Nice! What eventually sealed the deal for BLT besides the favorable market conditions?

Quite a few things...

1. I want the 11-month booking window. We are 1-bedroom people, but I thought there are times we might stay in a studio if we want to save the points for something else. It's not impossible to get a studio at 7 months, but I just don't want to risk it. I want flexibility.

2. Deed expiration/Low MF/Future plans - Our other home resort is a 2042, and if we want to continue to be members after that, obviously we'll need to own something else (and we aren't very interested in buying direct at new resorts). Since BLT will be part of our split stay pretty much every trip (we love the convenience to MK), why not make that our 2nd home resort? The low MF is also attractive, very manageable. If it doesn't work out in the future, I can always sell it. If we do end up keeping it, the plan is that as we get closer to 2042 I will start adding on smaller contracts to build up our BLT ownership. That way, I have plenty of time to look for the right contracts, we won't have any gaps between memberships, and we don't have to shell out a large sum of money at once to buy a bigger contract. The resale value for BLT by then should also be lower. Of course I know nothing is guaranteed, but for now my plan/logic make sense!

3. Future refurb - BLT is due for the big refurb soon, and seeing how popular BRV became immediately after the refurb, FOMO kicked in! 😂

Thank you for the good explanation. We purchased resale BLT for many of the same reasons.

I'm so excited for the refurb, and it's not even announced yet. Lol. Looking forward to having the murphy beds in the living rooms. Other items on my wish list for the refurb:
  • No carpeting in the living room
  • Some kind of Space Mountain or Tomorrowland art inside the large murphy bed. I'm thinking Mickey and friends sleeping in a space station, and one can see Space Mountain in the background as if they had launched from there.
  • Keeping the 50s vibe/color palate for the new wall art.
  • Mid-century modern furniture and style instead of just modern. the main tower was built in 1971, after all, so it fits!
What would y'all like to see changed when they gut the rooms?
I'm sure they'll do a good job as the DVC rooms have been coming out really great lately. Just look at BRV.

You're hired! Get this person a job on the refurb team now!
  • Like to see something updated for the bathroom tile. Bolder blues and greys or something.
  • Also don't care for the see through master bedroom to tub view. Close that wall off. Put up a nice picture or art work in the bedroom for that wall.
  • USB connections. And perhaps offer both B and C USBs. I've started seeing C smaller size pop up in cars. But at least the current USB version would do.

Me too! Honestly, we weren't fans of BLT mainly because of the theming., I love all your suggestions and I think they are pretty spot on! I think you absolutely should email this to DVC! I'm sure they already have all the ideas laid down, but it doesn't hurt and MAYBE they will tweak something along the way! You never know 😉

I definitely can see no more carpet! I think most resorts should go for that these days especially resorts like DVC. Extremely heavy traffic throughout the year, carpets in general are harder to clean/maintain, and it's not good for people with allergies (like myself). I think it would be nice if they can incorporate some monorail artwork w/ Mickey and the gang? I would also like to see the 2nd bathroom with a little more counter space, so someone can put their toiletries there if they need to get ready, but probably not gonna happen. Also better lighting in the bathrooms please.

Speaking of theming, I'm a Pluto fan from way back. Poor guy isn't really featured anywhere. Would like to see him show up. Maybe a space, Space Mountain, etc. But I think thats to far a reach to incorporate in to BLT.

Sooo DH and I actually have a friend who is a senior art director for WDW. She works in marketing but I'm thinking maybe she knows of someone who might be involved in refurbs and might be interested in this kind of feedback/suggestions. So I'm going to send her a link to this thread just in case it finds it's way to the right person lol. One can dream!

But writing to DVC directly doesn't hurt. I'll collect these ideas and send them to them, too.

THIS!!! Plus the USB ports! :)

And while they are at it....maybe add a beverage area somewhere inside (on our side - not having to go to CR), even if it's just for a short time in the AM! This mamma needs her coffee hahahahaha

One can dream....right??!! ahahahaha

I think I'm the only one that don't care for USB ports, I just want more outlets. I don't ever plug anything directly into USB ports anymore since I experienced a mild case of juice jacking years ago. Thankfully, I didn't notice any strange activities with my bank accounts or CC, just my phone got completely messed up and wouldn't charge anymore and I had to get a new phone. We always bring extra charging plugs with us now.

You're not alone. If I go to the hardware store and buy a fancy electric outlet that has integrated USB chargers, I'll install it at home and trust it. But I don't trust other USB chargers in random hotel rooms or airports, etc. Probably > 99% of them are fine, but juice jacking is real and it is just waiting for a victim. I usually take a 6 plug surge strip and plenty of charging plugs on trips.

I am looking forward to the refurb at BLT. Don't know if it will be underway by the time of my next stay at BLT in May, but hopefully soon.

I'm also on team never-built-in-USB, though mostly for predictability (I'm never let down if I bring my own). I have a dopp kit that's full of nothing but chargers and cables of various kinds to cover various room configs 😅

This is our main charger, can charge everything we bring even if there's only one outlet + flat surface available: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09MGRNYHH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also bring 2 of these for situations where there's 2 nightstands and/or a table (the 2nd usually goes to charging MB+ on a table): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZCGYP27/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also bring one of these 'just in case'...it's preferable for a nightstand compared to the above (when the outlet supports its awkward proportions) as it's more compact: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09W2JP6SM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Plus a lotta cables. These are our favorites: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H87VZJ9/ref=twister_B08Q792G5S?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

As for the refurb, we didn't have such a great experience in 2022, thought the studio desperately needed a refurb (and a redesign?), but excited to try a BLT 1BR post-refurb.

Nice! I love it! :thumbsup2

When we travel, my husband is in charge of all tech things, and I'm in charge of everything else. He has a similar bag as your Dopp kit that has a lot of compartments where he puts all the cords and chargers, I think it's an Incase. The nightstand is definitely a challenge sometimes! I hate it when only one side has plug and the other side doesn't, like why?! So we also bring small power strips with us.

They used to but even then if one goes down it would likely be replaced with one that didn't. Unfortunately you can't count on being able to freeze things.

I hate that DVC has gone that route. :(
