Bean Counters and shortsightedness

Disney doesn’t offer much in terms of high end thrills, but it’s that it has a higher percentage of offerings/attractions the whole family can enjoy across generations that will make it hard to topple.
That is a very good point that I don't recall coming up in previous WDW vs UO debates. WDW is full of 3 and 4 generation families that would be very hard for UO to pull away.

What's happening and is going to happen more down the line is that the generations will die off and Disney will not have recruited/indoctrinated the new generation like they had the old one.

Its not going to happen overnight but the transition has started and kids aren't always Disney kids like they were in the past.

Right…. But adding the new screen (with additional seats obviously) would help, right? Not saying it solves the problem, but adding more rides definitely helps - just doesn’t move the needle too greatly.
That would probably be the desired effect, I just don’t think that they threaded the needle on that one. To me the dueling dumbos was the best decision for a ride, jacked up capacity for a must do for so many without causing a new wave of fresh guests. Personally I think Disney would be better suited trying to increase capacity per hour on rides over implementing new rides. You want to run more efficiently without driving up demand at this pint

The price for an AP will 100% go up once Epic opens but as for right now the higher tiers have great perks. IMO Universal treats their APs better than Disney does.

Everything at Epic looks great to me. Can't wait to experience it.
I wouldn’t argue that, but I think it’s because Uni needs to offer more to get people to sign up. Disney treats their AP’s like second hand citizens, and people bang down the doors for them. What an awesome problem to have

When we took our kids out, the principle told me that he wished every single kid could go on a family vacation every year, no matter when or where. He said "family" stuff always helps the kids. Some kids just don't have that and I do feel for them. That's why we always took other kids with us when possible.
Some in the teaching profession have a passion to teach and watch kids learn and grow. Others are there for a stable career and paycheck, (and there’s nothing wrong with that) but it’s just a job to them. He sounds like a class act!

If it means I'm getting great perks with my AP, then I'm fine with it. I'm looking forward to using my free HHN ticket.

Sounds like pontification to me, do you have anything to back up your assertion ?

If Uni ever bumps it’s popularity, I would wager those greats perks start rolling off
If Express after 4, early park admission, free preferred parking or all three were removed, then I'm downgrading my AP or canceling altogether. I don't plan on going to HHN next year as of right now so I don't think that'll be a deciding factor in the future for me.

When that dire time comes, Disney will just join force with Universal and we can all enjoy Universal World of Disney, or DisUneyverse, or whatever.

The couple times I went we saw a bunch of traffic so maybe that’s why🤷‍♂️. Either way convincing people to leave the bubble is going to be tough. Maybe offsite guests would look at it differently
Offsite is the majority of Disney and Universal guests.

I don't know how much it will effect the parks but I do know that most kids aren't into Disney like kids in the past are. My nieces who are 12 and 13, aren't into Disney at all and the goes for their friends too. Kids today have a lot more options for entertainment than kids in the past did. Even my 3 year old would rather watch Blippi, Peppa Pig or Cocomelon over anything Disney puts out.

Maybe it's just me but I have always known like 5 year old and younger to not just watch Disney stuff. When I grew up it was Saturday morning cartoons, Barney, TMNT, Nickelodeon. To me Disney never had a great market of TV shows but movies were where they had a huge impact. Most kids I know now watch a ton of Bluey, Paw Patrol, Cocomelon but they also watch Encanto, Frozen and Moana.

I've even noticed more now than before kids not into a lot of the newer Disney movies. IMO it's alot different now then when we were younger. There wasn't as many options and it felt like Disney was everywhere

Agreed, Disney junior has some sneaky good shows that attract a lot of kids. I also think those stations pump out shows almost daily and if 1 in 10 hits with kids then they win. Just think of the toy market they hit. Just a few Disney hits, bluey, Dino ranch, doc was/ is pretty good and there’s a million duds. I have a 3 almost 4 year old so I consider myself a connoisseur
