The liquor in DC is just in the store with everything else, not a separate store. I am a fan of Kirkland gin and vodka! And their wine prices can't be beat, I can get that in VA but not liquor.At least around here, the liquor stores are open to the public. You don't need a membership to shop there.
Good rental car prices. DH gets glasses there. I wasn't sure once the kids had moved out if we would spend enough to recoup the cost of the executive membership, but we do. I don't get produce there generally because we are only 2 people, but I love only having to buy some things like TP and laundry detergent once a year.
i have never been asked to show my card at the self checkout lines. I flash it on the way in and scan it at the register. You have to give them your card to scan at regular checkouts too (I guess the shop card loophole may be in play?)
