New but very old topic.......we are leaving in a few hours for disney. DH and I, one week 1 bedroom lake view BLT, 6 days one bedroom savanna view kidani. Only going to parks 5 days but hoping to get into moonlight magic. Sad we can't do most rides, but thankfully to even be going.

Since we'll have plenty of resort time, I'm sure I'll pop in. Can't wait to see next topic or what ads will pop up along with it.
Enjoy your trip!

Anyone want to talk sump pumps? Been wanted a battery back up one for years, but other things got in the way. DH is concerned we have a rough pit that was done 45 years ago. Not a cute pit with a plastic liner thing. Will this be an issue? It's like they pour the cement floor and broken off one corner, stuck in a sump pump.

Timely talk. We’e in western NY, a lot of homes have sump pumps here. We’re currently getting estimates on re-routing the outside drain. We have the “cute pit with a liner”. One plumber said we need a new liner inside the hole the pump is in. The other never mentioned it that at all. There’s about a $5,000 difference with this liner issue & will entail them drilling a bigger hole in the cement. We just redid our basement in 2020 because we had a crack in the wall (not related to the sump pump). So we’re not looking forward to having it all torn up if not needed. I’m very skeptical & I’ve never known anyone who needed this done. My husband is starting to question it too. We have another estimate scheduled & talked to a neighbor whose dad does hime construction to get his dad’s opinion. But we do have a battery back up pump in addition to our regular one. Many years ago the electricity went out during a rainy period & my husband had to bail the pit out regularly for hours. He got the battery back up one after that. We have a Generac generator now so we don’t worry about electricity so much now. Good luck with yours.

Our sump pump died the one time we really needed it and we had a minor flood I. The basement. We added a backup one at that time. It probably comes on about once a week now.

Speaking of household appliances (is a sump pump an appliance) do you leave the fan on your furnace/air conditioner (appliance?) on all of the time? This is an oblong argument of which way is right in our home.

We replaced our furnace & AC a few years ago. The salesman suggested running the fan all the time instead of on automatic (intermittent) & said it helps maintain consistent temps thru out the house. I find it definitely helps with the AC in the summer so often leave it on continuous then. I tried it with the furnace in the winter, but I end up feeling like it’s a cool draft when I’m sitting near the vent. So I usually just leave it on intermittent when the heat is on.

We are visiting DL for the first time in the beginning of June - I hope I am not too disappointed or bored. As of now - four rides will be down for refurbishment from what I understand - so not sure this would have been Walt's ideal experience either ... but times are different ... so we'll just go with the flow ...

Can’t wait to hear what you think. We’ve been to DL 5 times & we really liked it. I loved knowing it was where Walt walked & where it all started. I wasn’t crazy about crowds & how rude people seemed. We did A Walk in Walt’s Footsteps tour & went into his apartment over the firehouse. Seeing the lamp in the window made me kind of emotional. But I’m a sap that way. My son & daughter in law went last summer & were not impressed at all. (She was kind of bored!). They’re huge WDW fans, have APs & go a few times a year. She has no desire to go back to DL.

In Tiffany town car, 5:05, still no room number. What shall I demand???? Free passes for life, dining plan for a year?????? Extra roll of TP?????

Extra TP? Nah. Their TP is so useless, I just bring my own. So extra wouldn’t be worth much. I think you should just request Club Level access. That seems to be a thing now. 😁

We only rideshare anymore - so can't say that I worry about transportation much to the parks. It almost feels like we are cheating as compared to the alternatives!

On Walt, could be ... could be - I don't often try to get in the head's of people no longer with us - unless I am watching Ghost Hunters or Ghost Brothers!

Rideshare at Disney is not cheating in my mind. I'm always ready to call an Uber or Lyft, my husband prefers to wait patiently for Disney transportation.

Can't wait to hear how you like Disneyland.

We have two tours planned - including the one you described - so very much looking forward to the historical "where it all started" aspects of the park. It will be nice to have the comparisons between parks, main street, and some of the rides. All my current attachment is associated to WDW, so it would be hard to replace and replicate it at DL

It really does take a ton of hassle out of getting to the parks, planning the day, and creating an easy escape to a resort for lunch, an afternoon off or dinner. No doubt - being in close proximity to the two parks will be a different or even welcome experience, so we'll see how it all stacks up.

I've never been to Disneyland in California. The elimination of transportation anxiety (my personal self-diagnosis term:rolleyes1 ) seems like a dream.

For sure, in that regard, it does take some hassle out of the equation!
