Has this World Cup turned you (non soccer fan) into a new soccer fan or at least understand/appreciate the sport more? Will you explore the sport more in the future or be inclined to attend a match in the future? No judgments if nothing has changed your view on the sport. Just genuinely curious. Thanks in advance. :-) ⚽🏟️

Beyond watching my children play soccer for the local YMCA, I've never been interested in watching adult soccer. But I enjoyed watching the US team play against Britain. Didn't have an opportunity to watch the next two games. I am more interested in watching adult soccer than I've been in the past but at least one of the teams have to interest me. I don't plan on watching just any team play.

OK, Buzzy Boy. :teeth:

You can put a feather in your cap because you’ve interested me more in the game.

Instead of soccer remaining a quadrennial casual fling to me, I’m likely to watch more often in the future. Maybe even attend one or more MLS Philly Union matches next year.

If you want to see high quality soccer really soon, you can see the EPL (England) on NBC/USA/Peacock every Saturday and Sunday. CBS Sports/Paramount plus holds the rights to Serie A (Italy) and the UEFA Champions League/Europa League. beIN Sports holds the Ligue 1 (France) rights. ESPN/ABC/ESPN+ holds the rights to La Liga (Spain) and Bundesliga (Germany). MLS becomes an Apple TV app streaming product in February (https://www.mlssoccer.com/apple/). So depending on what channels and streaming services you have, you have many soccer options to explore. I’m glad to hear your giving the sport more of a look. Happy viewing. :-)

I do wonder how many on the Disboards will watch the USA next month that watched the WC this month? It will be interesting to see what those ratings will be.

Soccer is as exciting as hockey, which is to say, not exciting at all.

This is how I think every team sport should go:

Play for an hour. Whoever has the most points at the end wins. No clock stops. Then people would play with actual passion and it might be more interesting.

Well, that is pretty much soccer except 90 minutes instead of 60. lol
They don't stop the clock in soccer ever? Even with all the dives I've always heard about from EU/UK based discussions in the past? Ball going out of bounds?

I won't watch soccer. I can't, no regular TV.

They only stop the clock in High School and college. And then for specific items... following a goal, injury when they have to beckon on a trainer, issuing of cards, and substitutions by the winning team w/<5 minutes left in the game.

"Professional" matches don't stop the clock ever. Referees will "add time" at the end of each half to "make up" for various delays (ball going out of bounds in NOT one they'd make up time for).

But you have internet, and games are available online.

They add the wasted time back into the match at the end with what is known as stoppage time.

I’m not a fan of soccer goals being recorded as like the 38th minute. I want to see exact times such as in hockey and football.

Still have zero interest in soccer and never watch no matter who is playing or where. Boring to watch and the whole mess around having those matches held in Qatar run by that corrupt organization did nothing to change my view.
