Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2022 (Nov. 3-6, 2022)

Great race today! Not my fav of all time, but it was my first runD race with my DD13 so still special for us. We got on a bus from Saratoga at 3:45 - finally got to epcot at 4:35! Bus def got lost. DD was in coral D and by the time we got there, A and B were already in the starting gates. We were probably the 3rd or 4th to last group to cross starting line - at 5:58am. I saw balloon ladies for the first time in a run! When we did the loop up to the highway, looking down from the bridge we could see them. Luckily we didn't see them again, and we walked a good amount because DD has a sore knee in a soft brace.

The only character line we waited in was the army guy, which was like 30 seconds because no one seemed to care much about him - the army guys are DD's favorite, so that worked out.

I miss the awesome and super thoughtful/connected theming from the SS 10 miler. These characters seemed random (or is there a thread I'm not seeing/appreciating)?

Post race we had a bigger park day today than I originally planned, so I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow (running solo) but I don't care about my time, just want to have fun. Pool day planned all day tomorrow (with a nap in there somewhere) and then the party!

Question - I was able to link to see the pics from today, but got an error message when I entered the HLM code. Do I need to wait until after the race to link it? No code for the challenge bibs this year?

I’m with you on the lack of cohesive theme—they seem to be keeping most of the on-theme characters for the pre/post-race photo ops.

As far as the bib code, I didn’t have any problem with 2022 WINE HLF# #### with the pound signs replaced with your bib number.

I got to the bus stop at 2:45 and got right on a bus. It was apparently the third one. I just couldn’t muster the energy to wake up any earlier today in order to catch the 2:30 bus.

I had a little panicked thought last night about how to set my alarms, since I’d been setting them for 1:45 and 1:55, but with the time change, I obviously wanted them to go off the 2nd time we hit those times, and not the 1st. After much useless googling, I decided to just switch my phone to manual time set and set the clock back before I went to sleep. Then I fixed it after I woke up.

19:43 and .91 miles later and I’m at the front of the B corral. I feel a bit weird that I’m so close, since I’m not fast, but it is what it is. Warning to other A and B folks—you will be walking through median grass.

So happy to be starting with wet shoes from that grass!
