Who here has never watched Harry Potter, never read one of the books, or knows nothing about the Harry Potter universe?

Still not interested. :-) I never mind being clueless about a popular culture item or enterprise if it doesn't interest me. Life is short enough; indulge in the stories, shows, books, activities that do suit your interests and curiosities. Definitely, a lot of varied people enjoy the HP phenom, though. Just not for me.
It will always be there if you change your mind. :-) Jk Rowling also has written some unrelated mystery books as well.

Not a fan of the genre or just haven’t had the time?
I had to look it up to see what I was doing then - cause it seems I’ve missed a lot of things when I get busy with life.

Oh, no surprise, it came out when I had new twins and was working full time overnights! :lmao:

DD never had an interest but DS watched some of the movies with his friends.
HOW??? i have never been in any place with a tv over the past 10-15 years that one of the movies is not running 24/7. every time we go to a hotel and turn on a tv it immediately defaults to either a harry potter movie, re-run of friends or family guy. when any of us have been to an e/r or in a hospital for procedure it seems they run the movies. stores that sell electronics? harry potter or avatar. it's inescapable. someone may have never sat down and chosen to watch the movies but they have watched them unless they are entirely off grid and have been so for over a decade.
Hmm I work in a hospital and I’ve never seen it on TV! Last time I was in an ER I watched Dirty Dancing along with everyone else there, lol. I’ve never really noticed it anywhere else, either. 😝

In high school, we told our teachers that HP will be seen as our era’s Shakespeare. They looked at us like we were crazy.🤣

Do tell? I'm not a huge mystery lover (I actually much prefer fantasy) but I'd like to check them out.
I’ll go look them up, brb. I think one became a BBC tv series too.
While I do that please enjoy these classic clips from HP 1 from Wizarding World’s YouTube channel:

I've only read the first book actually in school but my husband has all the books and read them. Even as an avid reader at this point I doubt I'll ever read the whole series, the movies are good for me for Harry Potter. My husband fills me in every now and then with "in the books..."

We grew up on the movies and have continued with watching Fantastic Beasts although that franchise has never been able to get the vibe the same as Harry Potter. I could watch the Harry Potter movies all the time, Goblet of Fire being one of my favorite.

While I have not been to Universal Hollywood for the Wizarding World there I have been multiple times to Orlando and it's amazing all the details, the sounds, the music, etc. Super excited for what they do with Epic Universe especially with the Ministry of Magic.

I used to be a HUGE Harry Potter fan as a kid. Read the books multiple times and geeked out when I went to the Wizarding World for the first time back in 2012. Now, I'm very ambivalent to it. I think the Wizarding World is one of the best themed lands in any theme park but I wouldn't consider myself to be a fan anymore. A lot of that admittedly has to do with how I really dislike JK Rowling.

Everyone I've gone to Universal with has never read or watched any of the films so they look to me as the "expert" despite not engaging with the franchise in years LOL

Don't really know much about it. My wife bought a set of the books for our kid, but I haven't really read them together. I did watch Fantastic Beasts once, but that was pretty much self-contained and didn't require any knowledge of the history of the universe.

The books and movies are worth a look if you have the time.

I love the HP books and movies! I do not have kids and had no interest until the first movie came out and we decided to go and see what all of the fuss was about. We enjoyed it so much I immediately bought the first 4 books and as the 5th, 6th, and 7th books came out we pre-purchased and got them at midnight and as each movie came out saw them in the theatre. I reread the books a few times a year and watch the movies a lot. Not as into the Fantastic Beasts but have seen seen them each once. I do enjoy the adult murder mystery series she writes under a different name that was mentioned. I think the first book is called Silkworm if I remember correctly.

There are some people who haven’t seen HP? 😳 :faint:
Just kidding!
Until about 2010, I never did either.
Nov 2010 is when The Deathly Hallows - part 1 came to the movie theater. I told my girls May 2010 that I was going to read all the books and see all the movies by November so I can be all caught up. I read and read and read. My older DD watched the movies with me, my younger DD had no desire to watch them. By November I accomplished my goal and my older DD and I went to Navy Pier (Chicago) to watch Part 1 on the big IMAX screen - it was great. We then returned in June 2011 to watch Part 2.

I am now a HP nerd - I love love love everything about HP. I’ve read the books twice (I’m gearing up for a third time) and every New Years Day is my HP movie marathon day - from the minute I wake up, until the minute I go to bed.

Every time I read the books and watch the movies I think the same thing over and over - what an INCREDIBLE imagination JK Rowling has - it’s just incredible - such a gift she has. Thank you to JK Rowling for giving us this fun and magical world for all of us to enjoy and escape too.

And now I’m taking my Elder Wand that I got at Universal Studios and Apparate out of this thread pixiedust:
