My last card of the 5/24 rule will be the chase freedom unlimited (Probably apply around December of this year) so that I'm building a reputation with Amex, Capital One, and Chase. Once my business gets big enough, I'll apply for a Chase Business Ink card in August of 2023 (That's when my first card application drops off 5/24), then chase sapphire reserve in May 2024 (Next card drops from 5/24). That way I've got the chase churn out of the way earlier on so that 5/24 doesn't hinder me when my business is built and I've got the income and score to go through the other nicer cards.

You are doing great!

Just a note: the business cards do not add to your 5/24 in most cases such as the Ink card so you will remain 4/24 with the Ink application approval in August 2023.

We made our 14.5 our drive yesterday and my sister and I survived. My almost 16 year old dog panted most of the way and got angry a few times and started barking at us. The nutty younger one was good as gold. The hard work starts today. I asked my mom if she had a list so she could prioritize and she said no. How do people live without lists? Also, once we arrived and started talking about what needs to be done we got in a fight right away about what to do with paperwork (my sister wants it all shredded, my brother thinks we should throw it in the fire pit, my parents really don't care/aren't worried about it). I forgot how opinionated my family is--wish me luck!
Well, tell your brother to try that firepit thing! Wads of paper don't burn as quickly and as easily in a firepit as he may think. And - shredding may be an option if you can take it somewhere that does bulk shredding. If it's just a 'little' bit, let sister sit and do it. It's a most boring job when you are trying to get through a business box full. Don't ask me how I know. Plus even the best shredders will clog up.

Sorry for your old dog! Did you remind old dog that he could be somewhere without his mama? I talk to my old Yorkie as if he should understand and sometimes I think he gets it - for about 2 seconds.

There was some chatter on reddit where someone posted a bunch of links to higher than usual (I think) Chase SUBs but the comments almost unanimously indicated that using those links is not a good idea. I assume you here all concur with that assessment? (I need to lay low with Chase anyway probably).

So on to Amex... I currently have the BBP and since opening in January 2020 have put a few autopay items on it just to keep it in use. Can anyone recommend an Amex I could apply for? I have previously had the Hilton Biz (opened 9/19 but since closed) but that's it as far as me and Amex.

We found checks from 1961. My sister agreed that we could throw out stuff like that. Small victory.

We are getting 50 mph winds up here. It’s unreal. I can’t talk the dogs out by the bay because I’m seriously worried about them being blown away.

Credit card hackers! My people!
I've been in this game since 2013, beating the banks at their own game to fund fantastic vacations.

As to your question regarding Amex, if you can provide some more detailed information I can give you some more targeted advice.
-I know you asked about Amex, but what is your 5/24 count (number of new personal credit cards opened in the last 24 months)?
-Where are you looking to travel?
-What are your closest airports? Are any of them a hub for any of the major airlines?
-Is there a particular hotel chain that best fits your travel needs?

-What is more valuable to you? Airline/hotel points, or do you prefer the flexibility of cash back?

If you can stomach the annual fee, everyone should do the Amex Plat or biz plat at least once. I noticed the 150k UR came up when I generated a support link in incognito mode for the biz plat- I'm not sure if there is a better offer out there, but 150k is great. Saw 125k for personal. I have been successful in offsetting the high annual fee and a 150k bonus is worth $2250 in my experience. Plus they frequently offer great transfer bonuses and offers to save money.

I also really love my Hilton Aspire and get tremendous value out of that every year.

Ooooh yeah not sure about that AF. I will look over the benefits very carefully and see if I think I'd get use out of them. I don't want to buy things just to buy things to use a credit, you know? But I will look... thank you.
From VFTW:

Southwest Airlines is offering a 20% discount on award redemptions booked by 11:59 p.m. Central time on Thursday, October 20 for travel by December 15, 2022 with promo code SAVE20NOW
Is an "award redemption" the same as "buying a ticket on miles that I transferred from Chase URs"?

:rotfl2: Asked someone I follow on Insta about their sherpa fleece because I'm looking for a zippered one for curling. The two brands she has are over $100, for a fleece jacket? I was looking more in the under 30-40 range. I've used my saks credit or I might've looked to see if they had any.

Started curling again and the rink is freezing, which yes I get, but I mean worse than others I've curled or skated in. I've been wearing a reg zip hoodie over a regular fleece and need to up my layer game.

So if anyone knows of any from Costco on up. Doesn't matter if it has a good but can't shed cause I don't want to leave stuff on the ice. I have a pullover I got at Costco a couple of years ago which is grear but it needs to be a zip in case I need to remove a layer.

I know you asked about Amex, but Barclays also has several elevated offers.
Do you have the AA Biz Card?

I do not currently, although I have in the past. Does that matter with Citibank?

Is Barclay's the one where people complain about their website all the time?

I saw that too. Said the links were not public links and didn't recommend using them. Hopefully, new public links will come out here shortly.

So both DH and I have the Cap One Venture X. Coming up on a year for both of us. I am going to keep mine (don't need 2 of them). Anyone know if we are able to Double Dip the $300 Travel Credit? I know we can with Chase CSR not sure if it works for Cap One or not.

CSR public and support links are showing 80k UR.

Reminder, if it's been more than 4 years since you received a Sapphire bonus, you can downgrade your sapphire, wait 4 days and apply for another sapphire to re-earn the bonus. 80k is a great CSR bonus.
What a bummer! DH isn't eligible for another Sapphire until February :(

good question. Mine is coming up too (must be all of us that applied day 1). I don't think I am going to keep mine, but the credit would be nice.

So I'm thinking of pulling the MDD in November, which will give me probably enough time to hit both MSR (w/ taxes in Jan and insurance in Jan too). I don't have any Sapphire products currently. In fact it was back in 2016 today that I got my CSR, LOL. So I'm guessing I should lower the CL on the CFF (which is what I downgraded to when I got rid of the CSR), right? I think it's like $17k. What do I need available for the MDD? Also I'm thinking I do the CSR first as I want that one more if I don't get approved for the MDD.

From looking at my chart, this will make me 5/24 and I'll drop back below in Jan 2023. So I think it's a perfect time to finally do the MDD since I'll be tied up meeting the SUB and it's the holidays. I can have my mom use my card, LOL. Anything else I'm not thinking about?
