I love credit cards so much! v5.0 - 2022 (see first page for add'l details)

I want to PC DH's CSP to a CSR since we each now have a CSP and no CSR. However, I forgot that he needs 10k credit limit and he only has $6k. He doesn't have any other personal cards with Chase since I closed his SW in January. They said it's a hard pull to get his credit line increased. Should we do it? He's 2/24 so I'm not too concerned on that, but he did just get approved for the Citi Premier yesterday.
Can you change yours?

Home for one more night. So underwhelmed by the Ritz Carlton Cleveland. Only good thing is I think we've agreed we do our next conference in the winter in Orlando. Made three trips to Staples yesterday and today and have converted $2000 so far. DD is home for fall break and I'm barely getting to see her:( Tomorrow morning my sister and I leave for Northern Michigan. 14 hour drive, give or take.

My wife is currently an authorized user on all my cards. We aren't too into the idea of churning, so we have curated our cards to maximize value for us.
If we want to take a 2 player approach, any idea if I can refer her to the same cards and she can became our p2? Would I have to remove her as an au first? Would she get denied since she's already and au, or was recently an au?

Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

She can become your P2…just send her a support link from your card…no need to remove her has an authorized user….not sure when the cards were opened but if within the last 24 months for Chase they count towards her 5/24

If he’s going to get a hard pull anyway and he’s 2/24 would it make sense to just have him apply for a another chase personal card you’d like the Sign up bonus on and then you could move $4k from that card to the CSP so you can PC it

No, I just got it in June. Had to downgrade my CSR to a CFU to apply and then was unsuccessful on the MDD so didn't gain a new CSR, only CSP.
FYI, I PC'd P2's CSR to a CFU in prep for a CSP app. Within a few months of having the CSP, I upgraded that same CFU that I previously downgraded back to the CSR. I've heard mixed reports on things like "one PC per 12 months" but that wasn't the case for us. This was mid 2021.

@palhockeymomof2 gave you good advice. As you move forward here, consider not adding your P2 as an AU on future cards (unless there is a specific benefit you just have to have), just so you don't limit each other's x/24 options. We like to use digital wallets like Applet wallet or Google pay if we are both using the same card at the same time, or paypal, etc.

Supporting each other with support links is a very smart way to earn more points and I also like where your head is at as far as having the same cards, as it can be helpful to be working with the same currencies.

Feel free to ask any other questions that come your way.

Thank you both very much! We've primarily used the au approach simply so we could pool points from purchases, and minimize annual fees.
I think we're now at a point where we're ready to take advantage of referral and sign up bonuses, and understand that the annual fee is worth it for the rewards.

Thanks again!

I was thinking about that. His last app for a CIU was 8/24/22 so probably need to wait a bit to apply for another Chase card. I had been thinking about supporting him to a Freedom anyway.

Hmm so they wouldn't care that I have a CSP and a CSR? That might be easier since I have all the accounts already linked to pool points.

MY IHG premier ws approved (used support link) with a 20k limit!
waiting on card to create ihg account (assume they'll assign me a number)

I have 3 months for 4k spend. I'm thinking to do minimum right now and pay 7k on Jan 2 to try to hit 4k next year. I'm guessing the 90 days is from approval and the 40k spend in a year is calendar year.

thank you for your advice. My do a quick weekend girls trip to Paris so I'll see what hotels they have.

Small point, as I am waiting on my IHG card in the mail. The MSR is only $3000.

Hey Guys - I posted on here a month or so ago and just wanted to update on my progress. I'm 19 and a college student. Before posting I had a Discover IT (formerly Secured) card, and Apple Card.

Now, I also have the Amex Hilton Honors and Capital One Quicksilver cards! So far all 4 cards have 0 annual fee, and I'll easily hit the spending requirement for the 100k Hilton Honors points bonus. (And don't worry, I pay everything off in full the second it's due - thanks autopay). I applied for the chase Sapphire preferred but got rejected, the reason they gave was "too many recent inquiries". (I also applied for an Ink card a bit prematurely for my business...). My last card of the 5/24 rule will be the chase freedom unlimited (Probably apply around December of this year) so that I'm building a reputation with Amex, Capital One, and Chase. Once my business gets big enough, I'll apply for a Chase Business Ink card in August of 2023 (That's when my first card application drops off 5/24), then chase sapphire reserve in May 2024 (Next card drops from 5/24). That way I've got the chase churn out of the way earlier on so that 5/24 doesn't hinder me when my business is built and I've got the income and score to go through the other nicer cards.

Any thoughts or feedback on this plan?

You're on the right track! Just note that you don't have to have an actual business to apply for Chase business cards (though I would wait for you to have at least a year established on your Freedom). With Chase business cards, as long as you put down a business income of at least $1,000 and 1 year in business you're usually eligible. I'm a "consultant" in the same field as my actual job. Expect on the first Chase business application to get a call from the fraud department, but that's usually just an ID verification call. Amex also has a ton of attractive business products and tends to be more lenient than Chase on giving you your first business credit card. Make sure you have a plan for the Minimum Spending Requirements as business cards tend to be higher.

Down the road if you're ready to push hard, note that Barclay and US Bank are more inquiry sensitive than Chase and Amex, so tap into those companies first before circling back if there's any offers that are attractive to you. I like Barclays for JetBlue and AA and US Bank for their business cards (statement credit cash back and gift card redemptions).

Transferring both Amex and Chase points to Marriott to use toward one award night. Amex transfer was almost instantaneous... still waiting on Chase! (I don't do this often... is that normal??)

I also (last week) transferred Chase points to SW to book our flights, since cash is tight right now and the whole goal of accumulating points is to use them for travel. (I know it's a terrible redemption).

I am debating going for another Amex card (I feel like I should lay low with Chase for awhile) but the last time I applied for one (probably over 2 years ago now) I was denied got the popup (I currently have only the BBP) and am a bit reluctant to try again. I am currently 2/24 but I think that's the Chase rule and not the Amex rule... last personal card opened was just August of this year with C1.

Has anyone ever had luck using the AMEX Plat concierge to get into a hotel that was fully booked (I’m looking at you, Swolphin…). I’ve been stalking for cancellations daily for months with nothing coming open, so I’m grasping at straws. If that $695 annual fee could help me get a room there, I’d be thrilled!

I think it's fairly unusual to get denied for an Amex card. Was it a denial or a popup? If denial, do you recall the reason? I think it doesn't hurt to try and Amex won't mind that your last card opened was in August.

I too transfer UR to SW when I need it. I think it's a pretty decent redemption and the flexibility of using points vs cash is worth it to me with Southwest.

Many people have both, either acquired through upgrade or downgrade or through MDD, so I think it's common that reps see people with both. I did specifically ask the rep because I'm sort of risk adverse and she specifically said there is no issue with holding both cards, the issue is with earning the SUB on both cards and it was fine to PC. That was my experience but please do what you are comfortable with.
