Transpacific cruises now open to book

Booked online this morning @ 7:45 EST…..Vancouver to Hawaii AND Hawaii to Sydney. Our first back to back and we were lucky to get the same ocean view stateroom for both cruises!
Nice!! We got an oceanview for Hawaii to Sydney-- had a placeholder, so we were anxiously waiting while our travel agent called it in. We're on the ship. Might try to get a slightly better room later, but we're fine with what we have.
Also, noticing your screen name-- I have participated in a FQ exchange on another longer DCL cruise (Panama Canal)-- it was fun! Maybe we should do that again.

I keep ended checking the DCL site starting at 7 am and online booking finally opened at 7:30am. I booked Hawaii to Vancouver at 7:30am this morning and was able to get the stateroom I wanted. I then called at 8am and wa able to add my placeholder with no problem. Just had to change staterooms but was able to get the room next door to the one I originally booked! So excited!!

We got two 5B connecting veranda rooms for Hawaii to Sydney this morning; I'm really happy with our travel agent, I had emails with the reservations right at 8AM this morning.
Please tell what you paid per person for your verandah stateroom for Hawaii to Sydney. Thanks

As of 10 am Eastern time, there are still a few cabins left on both the Hawaii to Sydney and Sydney to Hawaii cruises, for you Silvers. A lot of it is now to GTY, so you can't necessarily choose room, but you have hope!

So I booked both Hawaiis, not sure which one and HNL to SYD.
I am honestly thinking if the transpacific makes sense for us.
1. We fly in from Germany so just getting to HNL is two days and almost 20 hours. and getting back home is 22 min back and two days ( need to do an overnight between legs).
2. I wonder if such an itinerary makes more sense that includes Asia to Australia at least that way part of the flying is covered. It just seems a lot of out of the way flying to do this one.

WWYD?

We did the VAn to HNL this year and loved it.. Kinda wierd maybe doing the same again. but we loved it and have the planning down in my head.
With such a long flight I wouldnt do it, personally. I would also like to have a few days in Sydney as I do not have the chance to visit Australia that often. You probably also want a day or 2 to recovery after such a trip. It costs more vacation days than I would be willing to sspend. Only when I have unlimited vacation days, are retired etc. Then I would consider it.

About doing the same route again, are there things you would like to do in port you missed the first time? Things you would like to repeat? If your sea days consist of laying by the pool all day, does the route matter?

Our cat 5B Honolulu-Sydney was $4474 pp+$258.76 taxes and fees. $4603.38 pp all inclusive. No vacation protection plan (trip insurance).

They were many things that we missed the first time. Even in Honolulu we never got to do Pearl Harbor, Hawaiian Royal stuff , and north shore. Or diamond head.
Maui we also did it the wrong way and with a second chance will do it the right way. Hilo is new and we loved Nawillili And totally want to go back to two areas there. I also have the logistics totally down or it’s not so bad. My mom and I were actually laughing saying that traveling within Europe this summer was more stressful than that trip to Hawaii lol.

The only bad thing is the time. Beginning of October doesn’t really fit with my schedules but I’ll make it work. It’s just after our summer vacation so we’re just have to deal with that. And Nawillili is not an overnight like the other cruise and a short stay. I have a placeholder to for the other direction coming back in the spring. I’ll keep my deposit there until the end. My mom is just more nervous because of her age sooner is better than later.

I will be canceling the Sydney portion though. When I looked at Disney’s itinerary vs cruise lines it made me realize we’re not really getting much for all that traveling. I found on Princess a Sydney to Singapore one way 15 nights that goes to Bali and a bunch of other places in Australia that would be more fitting for us because it also takes away an eight hour flight.

@mousefan73 Yes, Princess has a lot of one way cruises in Asian and to/from Asia which look really interesting! There places along the SYD-HNL route I'd like to explore, but I'd probably prefer a land trip for these destinations.

I will most likely cancel my Honolulu to Sydney. We got a window on deck 2

Is anyone doing the transpacific and then the first Australian cruise after? I was wondering about the dates. The transpacific shows october 13 to the 27th. The next cruise is the 28th. They told a friend that as of right now you have to get off the ship and stay at a hotel for the night but they have time to figure it out. Anyone else hear anything different?

Correction – I will cancel that sailing. I’m just still in denial and need time to process the regret. Lol

I’m just assuming here but knowing how Australian Agriculture is they want to have a complete go through on that ship making sure that nothing agriculture/ pests are coming off that boat. I can see them Spraying that thing down with a pesticide.

Because the media will be on the ship once it arrives in Sydney.

The holds expire on 10-13 at 11:59 PM. I’m thinking there will be availability then.
That they do. We also heard that a lot of people booked this and the Panama Canal cruise that's at the same time and now will have to choose, so there may be more rooms opening up then too.

Update for those looking at the TransPac cruise - approx 5pmPT neither one was showing on the website any longer. At midnight PT, for the HNL to SYD sailing there are now a few openings - Standard and Deluxe Inside GTY cabins only, two or three verandahs, and amazingly two Concierge Family Veramdah cabins opened up. Nothing again yet for the SYD to HNL sailing yet.

As others have said, keep checking back often as things are opening up at times.

Edit - and 15 minutes later, an Oceanview popped up.

Edit #2 - about an hour later, all those cabins had been snapped up.

Waaah! This silver can't find a thing this morning for Hawaii -> Vancouver or Vancouver -> Hawaii.

I guess I'll be hoping for a cancelation!
